[h=4]Mighty's deficit shrinks but remains!
[/h]
It’s not Super Sunday without a super deal from Steve Malone, owner of Faddy Malone’s (3120 Hempstead Turnpike, Levittown):
“The most generous man in Levittown(?) is at it again. Sweet Lou’s free Italian buffet, free hot dogs, free orange (Denver) and green (Seattle) jello shots, free SB 48 T-shirts, plus Jana (best bartender on L.I.). Food from Fred’s, best deli on L.I., with Ron, Nicole and Joe. “Shotzie (L.I. legend) and tall Jen (6 foot, 4 inches) will be dressed to kill and will handle all your drinking needs while they remain standing (been known not to be able to finish shift up right). We might not make money, but a good time is had by all at Faddy’s. Just ask Warm Beer Johnny and the Darcys (ex-NYPD).
“Did I mention pool table is always free on Sundays? Happy birthday, Mighty (Jan. 30), and here’s my present to you: The SEAHAWKS are a lock.”
Mighty hit with Eastern Michigan (-8) on Wednesday and likes Louisville -9.5 or -10 on Thursday. The deficit is 55 sirignanos.................................................................. 11-14-3

Mighty's deficit is back in triple digits for the end of the first month of 2014! Who knew? We ALL DID!

Mighty stopped in J&S Pizza in Rosedale last Friday. “Tough loss, Charlie (editor’s note: Charlie predicted, on opening day, a Denver/San Francisco Super Bowl), still don’t know how the 49ers lost that game to Seattle.”
“Actually, Mighty, I became a little worried when I read in The News you picked the 49ers (over Seattle).”
“That’s great, Charlie, blame Mighty Quinn. I think the Seahawks will cover the spread in the Super Bowl. Care to wager on that, Charlie?” said MQ
“You’re on, Mighty. Seahawks cover, I buy you a pizza, Broncos cover, you buy me.”
Gypsy The Greek: Gypsy Impalla is the only person we know to ever predict the EXACT score in a Super Bowl (Super Bowl 46, N.Y. Giants 21, New England 17). He’s earned another chance: “This is a tough one: Seahawks 23, Broncos 14. Have a great birthday (Jan. 30), Mighty.”
Mighty missed with Louisville (-9 1/2) on Thursday and likes Manhattan -2.5 on Friday. The deficit is 110 sirignanos.............................................. so we see above that MQ is on Seattle +2, that's opposite LANG :aktion033

Hondo takes the plunge into Sunday’s Super Bowl ............. as the hottest handicapper in the Bettor’s Guide, having been the only contender to sweep the spreads on Championship Sunday. The leap to excellence vaulted him into a first-place tie in the postseason standings with hapless Mark Cannizzaro.
And that’s not the only reason to adhere to Mr. Aitch’s logic for Sunday’s investment. You should also factor in that he has been on the right side of The Big Game’s point spread since 2008, which, according to his calculations, means he is on a 6-0 run of superb Super selections.
Thus, His Aitchness’ recommendation to the citizenry of HondoNation is this: Follow the cred to the bread, not the bums to the crumbs.
Seahawks-Broncos: This is the Uber-Hype Bowl, a matchup lending itself to an orgy of anticipation that has the masses frothing about all of Peyton Manning’s conflicts: Mann vs. SherMan, Mann vs. himself (in the playoffs), Mann vs. the elements (can’t play in cold weather), and Mann vs. brother Eli (trails in Supes, 2-1, and probably memorabilia money). If that’s not enough there are other notable clashes: The best in “O” vs. the best in “D,” Beast Mode vs. Pot Roast, and Black and Decker vs. the Legion of Boom.
It’s a seemingly ultra-tasty pigskin meal that is almost enough to make one stop craving for a few morsels from Marshawn Lynch.
Unfortunately, lost in all the propaganda is the reality the Seahawks have a problem even bigger than Richard Sherman’s mouth — their offense is the Legion of Lame. When the unstoppable Men of Manning get off to their usual fast start, it will be bye-bye Beast Mode, hello Least Mode.
Therein lies the trouble. Russell Wilson doesn’t have a lot of appealing downfield options — journeymen Baldwin, Tate, Kearse, Lockette and maybe the X-factor, Percy Harvin, for a play or two. That’s a bad matchup against an underrated Denver defense that has grown increasingly stout and stingy.
This ain’t your father’s NFL: Offense, not defense, wins championships, as will be seen when Manning conquers all conflicts. Denver 31-13.

[h=4]Mighty is making a Super pick with the Seahawks on Sunday.
[/h]
Al Ponce emailed with one last Super Bowl tidbit: “Mighty, just happened to see Google Super Bowl predictions and in Sarasota, Fla., a manatee from a water zoo has picked the Broncos as the winner of the Super Bowl. The manatee has picked the winner 6 years in a row.”
EA Sports video game company predicts some snow, a furious comeback and a game-winning kick in the first overtime contest in Super Bowl history. EA Sports has correctly predicted eight of the last previous 10 SB games: “Broncos 31, Seahawks 28, OT.”

“Dear Mighty, after carefully calculating the ‘stats,’ I came up with this final score: Broncos 29, Seahawks 27. Joe Solimeno, Ridgewood, NY, Chapter MQFC.”
Mighty’s know-it-all-brother, George: “I like Denver and the over.”
Mighty missed with Iowa State (-8) on Saturday and likes the Seahawks +2 on Sunday. The deficit is 220 sirignanos.

[h=4]Mighty gets the Super Bowl right! Too bad it doesn't shrink the deficit enough.
[/h]

Mighty received a happy birthday card (Jan. 30) from John Naddeo of Merrick.
“Hi, Quinn. Sending you this card wishing you a happy healthy birthday. I am picking the Seahawks for the Super Bowl because your mother said for you to pick them.

“I think you are going to have a winning year in 2014, so I am playing your picks for the year. I read your column first thing in the Daily News. It’s time to get out your party hat and prepare to smile wide at the happiness and surprises your birthday is sure to provide. John Naddeo.”
One S.O.B. To Another: “Happy birthday to a real S.O.B. That’s Super Outstanding Buddy. (What else did you think it stood for?). Poor JR.”
Lucky Charm?: “PS: My birthday is on Monday, Feb. 3. Good luck on the Seahawks. Johnny Rogo, Glen Cove.”
Mighty hit with the Seahawks (+2 1/2) on Sunday and likes Villanova -10 on Monday. The deficit is 170 sirignanos................. MQ faded LANG and won, again. That "Shipwreck Sharples" guy that MQ mentioned as being horrible, well he had Denver and the under and lost both

[h=4]Mighty may tear his rotator cuff patting himself on the back for picking the Super Bowl XLVIII winner! Although he got the score wrong. And the MVP. And he still has a deficit of 120 sirignanos.
[/h]

Mighty nailed the Super Bowl in last Friday’s paper:
The following appeared in the Daily News NFL Bettors Guide: “Mighty Quinn. Seahawks 36, Broncos 20.” In the Daily News NFL pullout on Friday. Sept., 6, Mighty predicted the Seahawks would beat the Broncos in Super Bowl 48, with Russell Wilson the game’s MVP. The man’s a genius.

SEAHAWKS AND OVER
The congratulatory phone calls, emails and Facebook posts were nonstop, and the line around MQHQ in Rosedale was so long, we can’t ever put a number on it.
Poor JR: “The winning team in the Super Bowl. I should've took your advice and went the opposite of Shipwreck (Kiss Of Death) Sharples, instead of going the opposite of your pick. I’ll have to remember that for next time.”
Faddy Malone: “Nice to have the Super Bowl lock (Seahawks) come in.”
Mighty hit with Villanova (-10) on Monday and likes Kentucky -13 on Tuesday Feb 3. The deficit is 120 sirignanos.

Mighty gets the deficit down and is looking better in early February 2014 than he did in January. Or in all of 2013. Or in 2012. Or 2011. Or in 2010...

If it weren’t for bad luck, this guy would have no luck at all:
“1) SB box pool have 5/7 as family numbers. Seattle does its part and Denver is going to score to make the halftime score 15-7 and a $45,000 hit. No, Peyton turns into Eli and the halftime score is 22-0 (2/0 for box pools).

“2) 3rd quarter we have 6/6 as our numbers and Denver scores with no time left making it 36-6 with a two-point conversion to go. Seattle decides not to show up for this only play and third-quarter score becomes 36-8 (3/8 box pools) costing family another $15,000.
“Two plays cost me $60,000. Lost: not priceless. Now I know how you and your no-luck cronies feel. A happy and healthy year to you and your readers. Alex Carr, Valley Stream.”
Happy belated birthday (Feb. 1) to Robert Knerr of Rosedale.
Mighty hit with Kentucky (-12) on Tuesday and likes Northeastern -8.5 on Wednesday. The deficit is 70 sirignanos................................... MQ is on a run here thats at least 3-0

Quinn isn't that bad in NCAA hoops, but it's time to lose, he isn't going 4-0. Can't wait to fade him in MLB, he had some terrible runs last year.

Mighty is STILL congratulating himself for his Super Bowl pick. Hey MQ it is already FRIDAY! GET OVER IT. Oh, by the way, Mighty missed on Thursday and the deficit grows.

Of this elite group, who showed why he’s the cream of the crop?
Who is the only NFL expert from your favorite newspaper, a big time cable network and the Super Bowl host channel to pick the winner and over/under? Tony (Coach) Botta claims to know the answer:

“Congrats to the Mighty Quinn. Out of the 19 Daily News, ESPN and Fox analysts who picked Super Bowl 48, ONLY THE MIGHTY MAN had Seattle AND Over!
“You like quotes, well here’s my quote of the week: ‘After watching and betting football for over 40 years and seeing THAT performance by the Broncos, apparently I don't know ANYTHING ABOUT FOOTBALL!’ Coach Tony Botta.

Mighty missed with Old Dominion (-12 1/2) on Thursday and likes Princeton -8 on Friday. The deficit is 125 sirignanos. ............................. 14-19-4 record
