Dammit World Runner, no need to tease the fossils around here. Your day will come:finger: (just joking).

By the way, who do you like in the 3A semis tonight?
Do you have any more line opinions?

My lines haven't been too far off so far. West Lyon should have beat Gilbert and came close to covering my -3.5 (too bad, another western team down). My -7 wasn't too far off in the Columbus' 10-point win today.

Damn... Harlan scores a meaningless late touchdown and now are up 45-10. If it stayed 38-10 my line would have been almost spot on. Time for some continous clock action. I hope Waukee can score a consolation touchdown to get my spread back to being right on.

...speak of the devil. Waukee's first string burn the Cyclones' reserve for a consolation score. 45-17 now.

NO... Harlan scores with the reserves on the last play of the game 51-17 (extra point pending). Why did they have to rub it in:kicking:

I really didn't have much of an opinion on 3a. There are only certain schools I follow in 3a. Those near the center of Iowa.

As far as the 4a game is concerned I'm thinking I'm still going to go on Friday night. Game time is 7:30. GO VALLEY.

The only reason why I gave them a small line is the iowa state 4a championships are usually close games. Seem to always go down to the 4th qtr.

good lines, so cal baseball. in covering harlan over the years, they're just
amazing. but they're also happy sioux city heelen has stayed in 4-a. heelen
could be 3-a in football, but doesn't want to drop down a class. if they were 3-a, they probably would be in harlan's district. right now, council bluffs lewis central, a 4-a school, is in the district. it's too complicated to explain here, but it's safe to say harlan is happy heelen is 4-a. in fact, they are usually in the
4-a playoffs and top-ten. this year, they lost, i believe to ankeny. world runner would know for sure.:coffeetim

Ankeny spanked 'em in round 1. Probably most would consider an upset.

Heelan used to spank all comers in 4A back in the late 70s/early 80s and won the state title a few times. Are they 3A or 4-A in hoops?

I think the 3A final will be a really good game. I'll initially make Harlan -11 over Decorah, but it could be close.

I'm having a harderm time deciding the 2A final. I'll open with Waterloo, Columbus -1.5 over Gilbert.

heelen is 3-a in all other sports. but since they were 4-a when their enrollment went to 3-a levels, i think they had the option of staying in 4-a, which they did for football. i'm sure very few schools would make the same decision, since they would be a large school for the class, like heelen is in 3-a, instead of being a small school for the class, which heelen is for football in 4-a. kuemper this year dropped to 2-a and nobody is crying. in fact, kuemper lost their first four games and won their last five, qualifying for playoffs. they lost in the first round.

Thanks for the update WR!

On a personal note, I am very familar with the West Bend team...........having grew up a mere 5 miles from there.

They are the arch-rival of my almamater, TWIN RIVER VALLEY.

TWIN RIVER VALLEY has NEVER defeated WEST BEND.............IN HISTORY!!

Beating Madrid in the Semis 39-6 is about the equivelant of USC beating Oklahoma 39-6. WBM is something else this year.

I decided against going to the game tonight. I'm pretty ashamed that I'm not going but I'm going to watch it live on tv tonight instead. Bettendorf is tough... Valley will have their hands full until half-time I think. After that they should cruise.

Gladbrook lost the 2A game exactly like we lost our 3A championship game... With the time running out after just failing a 3rd down attempt from the 1 yard line. We were ranked #2 in the state too and lost to an unranked team. Just goes to show ya....

Too bad WR, though to be honest I was kind of rooting for Bettendorf, I just didn't think they could beat Valley. My lines have been o.k. so far. Remsen Union killed Adair-Casey. It seemed like most the "experts" had AC (I was just guessing). Never fix a line against a late 70s/early 80s Iowa high school baseball powerhouse... you'll get burned every time. My St. Alberts line fell right on the number (-7). The one that was bad was Waterloo, Columbus (though I had them winning). One to go. Go Harlan Community Cyclones (7-7 now)!!!

Would love to post lines for Iowa High School Girls BB games, but my expertise is the 6-girl game... wouldn't know how to handicap this 5-girl stuff.

Trivia: West Monona was the last Iowa Girls High School BB program to dawn the old "skirts". They stopped wearing them in 1984.

Nothing sweeter than 2 dribbles, a flying skirt, and a nice check of the rump on a sweet forward driving to the hole with her skirt above her waist.... memories.:toast:

Also WR, thanks a bunch for the heads up on the webcast link. I go to the IHSAA site all the time and wasn't thinking they'd have webcast links. Have to listen to the Harlan game on FMCTC though. Love that site and Iowa High School Friday night radio show.

Yah...i bet your lines would have gotten equal action on each side. My line was more of a power rating. This Bettendorf team just had something this year.... Saw it through the playoffs when they waxed everyone.

Funny Story (since you brought up womens high school basketball) I remember 6 game from when I was a kid. We had a pretty good womens team that regularly went to state. One of the players was my babysitter as a kid growing up. She went on to be a starter for a national champion.

6-girl was awesome. Another sweet thing about is was that the guards had to stand an arm-length away from the forward. This led to many a girl bent at the west with her arm outsteched in the face of the forward. Ass sticking out and tits a hangin'. Not trying to be sexist, just the way it was. 6-girl was a sexy MF'ing game:suomi:

Also, Harlan 35-7 now with 10 minutes to go.

Line: Harlan -7.5 over Bettendorf. By far the greatest football program in the state of Iowa year in and year out.
