Greece +.5 EVEN (1 unit)
Draw wins and under 2.5 goals +260 (.25 unit)
I am backing Greece to get the job done against who I believe to be an underrated Columbia team. The dark horse talk about Columbia only holds weight with Radamel Falcao fully fit. Instead he is relegated to number 1 cheerleader from not being able to recover from an acl tear suffered over the winter. You ask me, it was a shock he even was able to try to train in time and by next summer in the Copa he should be back to normal, but that wishful thinking for Columbia is still strong in his replacements (Bacca is more dangerous than Martinez IMO and I'm curious to see who gets the nod.) still the dark horse talks continue for Columbia.
greece has something like an 83% defeat rate in World Cup play, pretty staggering stats. They rely much on defense and tend to play for the draw for reasons obvious to me...they have little offense. However when playing as a team and through set pieces they can be dangerous, as seen from other competitions, and in qualifiers. They have also failed to score in the last 5 of their 6 World Cup games. Everything to want to make you take Columbia really...my wager however will be more on the fact that I don't believe Columbia will get the job done in their first game and for Greece to break some ugly stats against them. I'm betting Columbia not to win basically tho I do like the draw, I just bet around the draw rather than betting it strait. I'd rather have both options with a win for Greece as well.
Uruguay -1 -120 (3 unit)
Luiz Suarez is out. Edison Cavani isn't. Against Costa Rica I'm not sure they need Luiz. Costs Rica had a couple good friendlies though, and ca be rather dangerous on the counter attack. Uruguay in 2010 finished 3rd place and then came back and the next summer won the copa America. They are no doubt a good team and shouldn't have any problems with Costa Rica, especially if they are looking ahead to England and Italy. I don't see the game being a complete blow out, but a 2 goal lead should be enough to cash in this bet. I fully expect this group to be a tight call between the 3 contenders and Costa Rica will exit early with zero points. I only see one option. In the outcome of this game and that is for Uruguay to get a win, and I'll gamble on the chance they can win by more than 1. I tip Cavani to open the scoring as well and will have my eyes out for the first goal scorer props a little later. Enjoy the games, will have some thoughts later for the evening games as well.
