The rule on pitchers is 3 year contracts max. The Yankees should ABUSE teams with this rule, seriously. They can offer more per year than any other team, and players are often greedy and short sighted. If they ever sign another pitcher to a contract over three years they are insane. Personally, I would only sign pitchers to two year contracts, as so much can change. I would do it even if it means outbidding people by 10%. Look at the Zito Deal (not that I advocate signing him). If he's making 15 per year, the yanks could easily have given 17 (15% outbid) per year over 2 or 3 years. Why tie your own hands?? Use your amazing cash resources to allow yourself to have a huge flexibility edge over other teams.
