And you're making arguments against your own case.

Yes more ppl being tested = More people positive = it's worse than many will admit
worse? wtf you talking about? opening up a state did not produce more deaths and hospitalizations and the testing shows that very few positives (%) cases exist and that's taking into account the numbers from the meat packing plants that were running 30% and higher.

in case you forgot the reason for the lockdown was to keep hospitals from being overrun. Now we have our first states that have been largely opened up for a few weeks and none are reporting an increase in deaths and hospitalizations. Yes it's a contagious disease but you quarantine the sick and elderly not the healthy. These states are proving that and you people still don't want to believe it

how bout you stay inside and wait for the bogeyman and us folks that decide to resume our lives do so without interference? you're not going outside anyway so shouldn't matter to you what I do. If you do go outside please wrap a bandana around your nose and mouth and pretend like that cloth will keep out virus molecules that are infinitely smaller than your fabric

If you honestly think that more people being exposed to one another, doesn't equate to more cases, then you are a complete moron.

It's a virus. It spreads.

Swim in a pool and you're safe.

Swim in a pool of sharks and you will eventually get bitten.

It's simple math.

And let's not even mention the newly related sickness spreading across states in children now.

It's a no-brainer that this would happen & will happen everywhere.

Not rocket science & just don't understand why ppl can't comprehend it.

Agree but there isn't really an alternative for the US, just gotta take our medicine and see what happens now.

We're not gonna lock down for 3-4 months for a variety of economic, social and cultural reasons.

you aren't getting that more cases doesn't matter. more positive cases? ok good.
at this point it doesn't matter unless 50% of new positive cases are resulting in death.
don't be a pussy.
humans have dealt with this stuff since existence.
just stay put and don't worry about what other people are doing...especially in states hundreds and hundreds of miles from you.

this train isn't stopping unless we start seeing a new surge that is resulting in 50% mortality. which we won't.

went and got me a fresh haircut today.

A haircut? Lmfao. Thought you would be licking portal toilet seats right now to prove your point. A fucking haircut? Really? Congrats.

Let me know when you can go to a sporting event, a concert, church, drop your kid off at school without making sure they have a mask. Let me know

it's sad when most of the country can't or won't do it. i'm actually pretty frugal...so I don't need to do alot of that.
\...my wife is a pastor at the largest church in the country...where our tithes are double that of second place. will be back there in a couple of months. online giving has been fine.

I was in NY for a week at a time Oct-Feb, and I then went to london-paris-belgium for two weeks ...using all public transportation. not scared of this thing at all...like most Texans (besides the blue epicenters of course)
this thing is losing steam.

I have my haircut scheduled by of all people a China man.

And I’m very much in comprehension of the seriousness of this virus.

It’s easy to say.....”I’m not scared of mass transit” when people are being very considerate and taking measures to protect each other. Or just completely avoiding it altogether

Idiotic to say that on a normal day. It’s a cluster, claustrophobia. You’re crazy. Get on the metro in dc or ny and try to tell me you wouldn’t be worried.

This is what I am reading (i have no opinion on this)

The state is reporting 1,801 new cases since yesterday. Its biggest 1 day surge. The big reason is the Texas Panhandle were more than 700 new cases flagged in just the Amarillo area. Cases in Potter county doubled in 8 days.

Statewide this has been a terrible 3 days for deaths in Texas. Another 33 people died since yesterday which totals 147 deaths in 3 days. This is the worst 3 day stretch since this all began. They are averaging 33 deaths per day in May. In April, they averaged 25 deaths per day.

Tex Gov put out a public statement to the media acknowledging the surge and said it is due to him sending a surge response team that has increased testing in Amarillo in hot sports.

Abbot said "As Texas continues ramping up its testing capabilities, there will be an increase in positive cases as the state targets the most high risk areas: nursing homes, meat packing plants, and jails. By immedeiately deploying resources and supplies to these high risk areas, we will identify the positive cases, isolate the individuals, and ensure any outbreak is quickly contained, which is the strategy being deployed in Amarillo"

Also hospitalizations in Texas are up slightly again. They are at 1,791 which is the 3rd highest total that they've had. The good news is that they still have lots of hospital capacity still and plenty of ventilators according to state data.

(again, i have no opinion but wanted to type what i read. Best of luck to everyone)

My county isn’t that bad but surrounding counties are. So we’re still shut down.

Governor has been excellent. Our county executive has been great as well

I know nothing about a Maryland government state official. NY is a joke.

I talked about this couple weeks ago when discussing my daughter.

The ONLY reason the numbers are down in the hospital is because unlike in the beginning, they are sending ppl home immediately and/or turning them away, unless they absolutely require higher tier breathing assistance.

It's NOT because there are fewer ppl sick.

Medical field doing anything they can to limit their exposure to the sick.

Wise move, or cowardly?

I'll take the latter.

r u for real? Cowardly? u mean like the guys hiding, prancing around with masks on?

In case u r not aware acute covid patients go to hospitals, they r breathing out this virus in spades, so healthcare workers treating them are at risk of exposure to sizable viral loads. yet they go to work everyday

why are the hospitals sending pts home? Dunno, did you make an effort to CALL the hospital to ask, or you drew a convenient foolish conclusion

-maybe less staff? hospitals continue to furlough healthcare workers . Sending them home, as non-elective medical is canceled. Less income coming in , cant pay bills . No money, no funny ...capiche?

https://www.beckershospitalreview.c...loughing-workers-in-response-to-covid-19.html

-maybe its becuase we know more about the virus now; mild/moderate symptoms ,its go home , self quarantine

Call the hospital , ask some questions then call your govenor . That's a better route then calling healthcare providers 'cowardly', dont ya think?

I know plenty of first responders/medical folks in ER's. From what I can gather, they are doing a fantastic job, as always, of sorting through and deciding upon those that need additional medical attention from this virus or any other sickness and those who come there with a sneeze and think they are COVID positive. In a majority of cases, like 98%, maybe more, people who are COVID positive don't need to be hospitalized. They can recover at home in self quarantine. It's emergency room medicine. Assess quickly and get them additional help, or get them out of the way to make room for those that need help.

As for Texas and for all of the stats coming in - it still cracks me up at how many people grasp onto one stat and run with it without any other perspective.

"Texas had its highest number of new cases today".... does not mean there is an actual problem yet, based on the other facts, such as testing rates, clusters, age demographics, etc. With the assumed inaccuracy of the stat "new cases" on both sides, it is very important to consider trend lines over time. I understand not everyone is a statistician, but really???

OP rocking some Greta-level math. yeah, testing is way way up so positive tests are up. percentage-wise though (you know...the thing that really matters) shows it's significantly decreased from March and April numbers

I have to ask. If you guys are open, what the fuck are you still doing on here!? Lmfao. You keep touting that you’re open...but you’re still posting daily on here.

Why not to enjoy the openings? Lmfao. Why are you still here talking about opening? Go experience it.

Btw...if you try to tell me you are open because you got your hair cut, I’m going to smack you.

I got my hair cut from a China man. Nobody is less fearless and rational about this thing than me. A China man. Said he got back from China last week(he was joking)
