Can't wait for this one. SoCar could quiet a lot of their doubters this Thursday night. At the same time, who the hell knows how bad A&M's defense will be this year. SC is deeper at RB than they have ever been under SOS. This is without question the best OL for SC since SOS has been here, arguably could be one of the best in the SEC. Lots of people questioning SC's secondary, and rightfully so. But I'm convinced SC will be able to get significant pressure with their front seven. SoCar lost JD Clowney, and Quarles. But they return Surrat, and everyone else on the DL this year has a lot of significant playing time under their belts. The LBs will be a strength this year, something that is all but unprecedented in the last 7, 8 years. Lorenzo Ward (DC) scraped his typical "rabbits" package (essentially a DL with nothing but DEs, used in 3rd and long, passing situations) and now has his "money" package which is a 3-4. With the depth and athleticism SoCar has at LB, I'm excited to see this package. I do, however, think it may take a game, or two, for SC's defense to fully congeal, if you will. But, and it's not often you can say this about SoCar, if this game or any other for that matter turns into a boat race, I think SoCar has the offensive weapons to go tit for tat. Great OL, amazing and deep talent at RB, and a better passer under center. Lot of people think SC will miss Shaw and his legs but DT can run when he needs to but hopefully he won't need to with that OL. Regardless, I'm so glad football is back!!!
