Anyway, in Islam the following are entirely non-controversial:

1. Putting gays to death
2. Killing apostates - those who wish to leave the religion
3. Honor killings

The amount of radical extremists or fundamentalists does exist but is small. Islam does however have a larger peaceful following.

The issue is that the extremists actions capture much of the media attention while the latter does not.

I lived in the same building with 40 practicing Muslims for 12 straight months. I ate breakfast and dinner with them. Shared tea, engaged in dialogue and observed their actions during the most difficult time of the year, Ramadan.

I don't pretend to know your experience FZ as far as interaction with Muslims goes but I can assure you, mine has been pretty extensive throughout the Middle East.
