Im on the Vols -7. They'd better not choke it on the west coast again this year.

The keyword in the above phrase is "again". If you look very closely, you'll notice the word "choke" and the phrase "on the west coast". I'm glad someone remembers last year. Tennessee is favored by 7pts on the road.

Cut and Paste:
Tennessee had trouble keeping up with its opponents away from Neyland Stadium, allowing an average of 39.5 points and 483.5 yards in road games, compared to 18.3 and 342.6 in seven home contests.
The Vols have been picked to finish third in the East behind Georgia and Florida, but even doing that won't be easy. After opening at the Rose Bowl, where UCLA has won five of its last six against ranked opponents, Tennessee plays its next road game at No. 10 Auburn on Sept. 27. Its third road contest is against the top-ranked Bulldogs on Oct. 11.

I took the Vols for a few reasons:

- I like Jon Crompton and I think he is a nice fit for Clawson's offense. Therefore, I expect little, if any, drop off in UT's QB play.

- UT's OL is experienced which should offset UCLA's DL to some degree

- Berry and Morley at S for the Vols

- Lennon Creer and Gerald Jones are very nice playmakers on offense that will give UCLA some trouble.

- UCLA is on their 3rd string QB and scoring has been a problem of theirs. I know it's a new staff, but I don't feel the personnel is there yet, even though I have tremendous respect for Chow and Neuheisel as O coaches.

- UT feels like they are being slighted and they want to make a statement

- UCLA doesn't really know how to win. You may laugh at this, but anyone following football long enough knows this is a real statement and concern.

- No one expects much from UCLA this year as they are "rebuilding".

Wouldnt no one expecting much from them be a thing in UCLA's favor?

Chow >/= Clawson, we dont know yet

I said Chow is equal or better than him. Clawson is an unknown so im not going to say he is at a sever disadvantage or advantage over Chow.

"Clawson twice has been named national Division I-AA coach of the year, winning once at Fordham and once at Richmond, and four times in the last seven years earned his league coaching honors. In 2005 and 2007, the Richmond Touchdown Club selected him College Coach of the Year over the likes of Virginia Tech's Frank Beamer and Virginia's Al Groh.

Quarterback development and pro production have been Clawson staples. Eight times in his 14 years as either an offensive coordinator or head coach, Clawson's quarterbacks earned all-conference honors. In addition, NFL regulars such as two-time 1,000-yard rusher Brian Westbrook (Eagles), receiver Brian Finneran (Falcons), tailback Rabih Abdullah (Bucs, Bears and Patriots), quarterbacks Stacey Tutt (Jets) and Kevin Eakin (Bills), and defensive lineman Aki Jones (Redskins) have benefited from Clawson's system and tutelage.

This past spring, Richmond wide receiver Arman Shields was a fourth-round pick of the Oakland Raiders and tailback Tim Hightower was a fifth-round selection of the Arizona Cardinals.

Clawson has proven himself a program builder and offensive specialist.
His 19 combined victories during his final two years (2002-03) at Fordham were the most wins there in back-to-back seasons since 1918-19. Then he guided Richmond to the biggest two-year turnaround in Spider football's 124-year history, improving from 3-8 his first season of 2004 to 9-4 and an NCAA playoff berth the following year.

Clawson then was named offensive coordinator at Villanova, where Drayton and he helped establish 70 school records and led the Wildcats to the I-AA playoffs in 1996 and 1997. Under Clawson's tutelage, receiver Brian Finneran won the Walter Payton Award, given to I-AA's most outstanding player, and Brian Westbrook became the first student-athlete in NCAA history to gain more than 1,000 yards rushing and 1,000 yards receiving in a season.

I feel the time to take Tenn has passed. If you were lucky enough to get it before it popped to 7, then great job. If you got 7, decent. But this sitting over a TD now just doesn't sound appealing one bit.

UT feels like they are being slighted and they want to make a statement

I think this is the complete opposite. Slighted by who? It doesn't seem to me that many people are giving UCLA a chance at all in this game. Not even to stay with the points. They are shoving them aside much like everyone shoved Bama aside last night.

Yes, but Tenn can use the same thing as motivation. They arent ranked high, are expected to finish 3rd in the SEC East, and they arent being highly talked about or touted. They tend to do better when there arent lofty expectations. See 2005

Expecting an SEC championship or a BCS bowl game would be having high expectations. The only people expecting that are thier fans, not the national media, or the rest of the nation.

I think UCLA wins this game SU. Their defense is incredibly underrated, and have some very good athletes on offense. Also like some have pointed out they have a HUGE coaching advantage. It's not as close as some here think it is. UCLA has great coaches across the board and Tennessee has Fulmer.

We saw how big coaching can play into a game last night when Bama destroyed a more talented Clemson team. The reason? Saban > Bowden. Same scenario here except Tennessee really isn't that much more talented and are playing on the road.

Hope you're right. No one is more obnoxious than Tennessee fans... well except Bama fans.

This is exactly why you actually have people in here betting on UCLA...
Ok i dont wanna be too cocky with this game.....oh well screw it..
I will go ahead and call them dunces if they think that a 3rd string QB is going to beat UT...

UCLA backers have to be complete football idiots if they dont see that its absurd to assume that their mash unit squad can compete against a legit
SEC player.. (it doesnt matter if UT winds up ranked 4th in the SEc behind BAMA, LSU and FL) There is no way in hell you can seriously believe that
UCLA is going to achieve anything against the vols.

The only thing that may save you.. is probably a ridiculous fumbling and turn overs from UT...

It could happen but... naaah!!!

UT 34- UCLA-7
