He called timeout because he wanted the ball back and the clock was running. You guys seriously need to turn down the sound on your tvs. EVERY play in college football is reviewable.

OK, so are you now arguing that Tedford didn't even recognize that it was a blown call, merely just trying to save clock? The cameras never showed him on the sideline during this fiasco so I'm unsure myself, but this is beyond bizarre.

Head Coach’s Challenge
(Rule 12-5-1-b). A new rule expands the ability of a head coach to challenge a reviewable ruling on the field. The head coach now retains a challenge if his initial challenge is successful and thus results in a reversal by the replay official. The coach will then still have a single challenge that he may use anytime during the game if his team has not used all its timeouts. Thus a team may have a total of two challenges in the game, but only if the first results in a reversal of the on-field ruling.

The split second they did show him he sure as hell wasn't as mad as he should've been. He should've been half way on the field talking to the head ref with the white hat. EVERY play in college is supposedly reviewable and this BS about not being able to challenge in the final 2 minutes is irrelevant (if even true which I don't think it is - that's the NFL rule). Even Bozo the Carroll would've known to make a scene right there and get it reviewed

As for the refs, these aren't ACC refs. Only the Pac-10 inisits on having their home refs do the out of conf home games. This is a large reason teams won't travel to play Pac-10 teams, but the Pac honks never seem to mention this little fact

Man do people ever overreact quickly. Maryland is a pretty good team like I said during the week, and Cal is not a top tier team. Don't even try to say USC has no competition. Cal is probably not even a top 4 team in the Pac 10, plus they play the second best team this year in Ohio St. Georgia might be the only team with a schedule I wouldn't take over USC's this year. I'm not a USC fan, and I'm not a west coast guy, but USC would win the SEC almost every year.

As for this game, I think Cal might come back to win, but no way do they cover. That line was ridiculous in the first place though. -14 on the road? Give me a break.

No he is saying the coaching staff in the both is horrible. Casue its their responsibility to tell the coach to challenge a play like that.

You can't challenge certain types of plays though, the same way it is in the NFL. The replay booth can look at the play but with ACC refs doing this game & at home, they ignored one.

Quit trying to make excuses for overrated Tedford. Spots and balls crossing the plane can clearly be reviewed or challenged

Tedford had no more timeouts thus no review. It won't make any difference in the long run in this game because Cal can't stop the Maryland running game.

What are you talking about. Are you guys watching this game. He called timeout right after the play was over and then called another timeout on the next play.

Tedford and Cal are yr after yr one of the most overhyped, softest, FASTEST TO QUIT programs in the country. This is a joke. Time zone my ASS. They should've arrived on Thurs if they had to adjust.

Well, if this turns out that he could challenge but didn't, then Tedford and assistant coaches must be held responsible. But the fact that you say that he looked even remotely upset seems to point to the fact that he couldn't challenge for whatever reason. Otherwise, no need to even get mad, just throw the red flag.

The announcers said Tedford called his last timeout after the supposed stop for a safety. But it wasn't a review/challenge timeout. It was a timeout to hope to get the ball back.

Have you read the posts I've made? I obviously didn't hear what they were saying and for the life of me can't understand why he didn't challenge it. I'm in no way trying to defend Tedford and his coaches, but it was such an obvious blown call that I'm afraid to assume that anyone could mess this up and fail to challenge it if they could.
