FULL credit to The Ducks. Oilers in the first, but the Ducks down a goal , facing the historical demons of Game 7 on home soil came out with their best period of the series in the 2nd.

Getzlaf had 10 points and a +7 in this series. Crazy numbers

Happy for Bobby Ryan. He's had a hell of a playoffs and yesterday's OT goal was that of a man playing with full confidence. No doubt in his mind ;full speed and breaking to the net. As for Mata on the play? ugh.

[h=1]Bobby Ryan Discusses Double Life While Living with Fugitive Father[/h]Ottawa Senators forward Bobby Ryan will take on the New York Rangers in the second round of the 2017 Stanley Cup playoffs starting Thursday night. While at least two games of the series will be played at Madison Square Garden, his life story may deserve a spot on Broadway.
On Thursday, Howie Kussoy of the New York Post recapped the double life Ryan was forced to live as a teenager because of a fugitive father who ran from police after a domestic violence situation involving the hockey player's mother, Melody, in 1997.
His father, Bob Stevenson, was charged with attempted murder and five other felonies, per Kussoy, after an incident in which Melody suffered a "fractured skull, a punctured lung, internal bleeding and four broken ribs."

Melody did not cooperate with authorities afterward, but after Stevenson was released on bail, he went on the run. Eventually, Melody forgave Stevenson and they reunited, continuing to run as a family. They settled in Southern California and changed their last name to Ryan.
A few years later, when he was 12 years old, Bobby Ryan awoke surrounded by police. They had finally tracked down his father, an incident he recounted during a conversation with Chris Simpson of Sportsnet in 2013.
"I think I knew this wasn't gonna last forever," Ryan said. "That was kind of the toughest time when [my dad was arrested]. I knew it was gonna be a long time before I saw him again."
The New York Post report noted Ryan's mother, who worked two jobs to support his budding hockey future, gave him the option to switch his name back to Stevenson. He declined but doesn't know why he didn't want to return to his first identity:
It's really weird that I didn't want to go back to my other name. I don't know if it was because I didn't want to be associated with everything that happened or I was getting recognition throughout the country for hockey or what it was ... but I liked it. I felt more comfortable with it at that point for some reason.
He admitted there were times after getting drafted second overall by the then-Anaheim Mighty Ducks in 2005 where he considered quitting hockey. He told Tim Baines of the Ottawa Sun in 2013 that sports psychologist Dana Sinclair kept him from walking away.
"She saved my career," Ryan said. "When I started seeing her, I was 18, it was post-draft. I wasn't really excited about the game for a while. I wanted to quit. I had a lot more going on than most 18-year-olds should ever have to deal with."

Now 30, the forward has scored 472 points (223 goals and 249 assists) in 669 career games with the Ducks and Senators. He also helped the United States secure a silver medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics.
Ryan enjoyed a strong start to the 2017 postseason with seven points in six games as the Senators knocked out the Boston Bruins in Round 1. Ottawa will need him to keep playing on that level as it faces off with the Rangers and superstar netminder Henrik Lundqvist.

What about Penguins to win the series now that they are down 0-1? In bball I will sometimes take a team down 0-1 to win the series if I don't have any change in opinion of the two teams after the first game. In a 7 game series the better team is still gonna lose a few games, but that game can just happen to be the first one. Doesn't really mean any change in value of the two teams. Just that the variance swung that way to start the series.

Pens were -280 to win the series to start so I'd think they would only be like -120 to win the series now.

-140 at the Greek . Penguins are clearly the better team - Ottawa's coaching moves during game 1 tell us they know they r big underdogs . A forechecking 1-3-1 . Once they got the lead they resembled the Italian National
soccer team ; everybody back :), in the 3rd period they had a forward playing defense - instead of a line of 2 you had 3 .Stunning .

can Anderson continue to play out of skin? This team has gone to OT 6 times during these playoffs and won 5 . Tremendous confidence in that dressing room

I got -125, good price if they are clearly the better team. Ottawa magic needs to fade sooner than later.

Go Penguins, that 1-3-1 is toast.

Pens back on track, didn't see the game but guessing the 1-3-1 trap has been solved and we cruise from here, umm right?

Caught the game midway thru the 2nd. nutty Ottawa coaching in the 3rd. I get the trap for two periods, pounce on an opportunity and try to steal another one on the road. 0-0 into the 3rd and you are golden- 1 goal likely ends it. But, in the 3rd of 0-0 game they STILL have the barn all back ? wtf? disagree. Anyway, what's their plan on home soil?..:think2:

big one in Nashville tonight. The game's deepest back tries to continue its home playoff unbeaten streak........

yup, won the division that had the swedes and russians....... Damn good result. And no Matthews . Why didn't he play?

looks like both groups won by the two N American squads-- lets keep in mind, on European soil

Canada going for three-peat. Hasn't happened since the Czech's did it 1999-2001

goaltending for Canada doesn't exactly instill confidence. Nice to see Giroux with the C on his jersey
