Yeah Vit, it is. This is the reason I work hard to pay for my medical insurance for me and my family. I work for what I receive. I work hard for it. I don't work hard to pay for other people not working hard to do their share.

If I were a person, I would think medical insurance is important as well. I would think working hard for it would be important.

here is the deal.... you, I, and others were paying for it anyway. we are paying for those
who are uninsured who wait and wait to receieve medical treatment or those who are uninsured who suffer a catastrophic event. I am still thinking that costs will not be driven at such a high rate, hope this does save lives and and encourages people to
get quicker treatment and keep costs down. let's see how this pans out

Ahhh, so a Supreme Court judge wants to base his decision on a technicality. Seems like a reasonable guy. No wonder the right wing loons love Scalia so much.

Yep. This was a ridiculous case for the SCOTUS to take. It should have been resolved just by asking the framers of Obamacare what they meant, and correcting the typos to bring it in line. It should have been an easy 9-0 vote once they took the case, but 6-3 with idiots like Thomas and Scalia is equivalent.

They aren't as fortunate because of their own actions. If a young black man can grow up and become the President of the U.S., anyone can be successful.

It's this simple. I work for what I have in life. Others don't and want me to pay for them. That's the crux of the issue. I have a problem with that. If I had to work five fast food jobs to pay for my family's healthcare coverage, I would.

I hate when you guys say "we're fortunate." I'm fortunate because I worked my ass off Vit. I'm fortunate because I enrolled in school (paid for by myself) and worked hard. That's why I'm fortunate.
how about that 28 year old white male who can afford health care but says fuck it I'm young and gets cancer?

Obamacare is great for some people... Its those people who refuse to work, and live off of others that get under my skin.

The takers... The ones who stupidly believe everyone owes them everything.... The ones who believe that they shouldn't work, or that its too hard to work... The ones who haven't held one job in their entire lives... The ones that don't raise their kids, have 10 different fathers, and complain life is hard... The ones that made the wrong choices over and over again, knowing they were wrong, yet still believe they should be rewarded.... The ones who milk every government system that they can... The ones who point the blame on others, and wont take responsibility for themselves...

Those are the ones I have a problem with.

Nope that's their choice... BUT I do have a problem with them being FORCED to purchase it, and if they don't they get a fine!

Forcing someone to buy something or face a penalty is wrong.

Most sane people are against the same things you are against, and have problems with the same things. Obamacare has Nothing to do with that. Obamacare, for all it's flaws, allowed people who couldn't get Health Insurance because of Pre Existing Conditions to get health care. It is Not Free health care.

An Open Letter to Justices John G. Roberts, Jr., Stephen G. Breyer, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Elena Kagan, Anthony M. Kennedy, and Sonia Sotomayor.

In my 32 years (How many years) serving the people of California in Congress, I have never written to Supreme Court Justices. But your ruling in the King v. Burwell case was so momentous and so important for America's families, I felt compelled to write and share my gratitude for this decision.

The stakes in this case were enormous. If the plaintiffs had prevailed, nearly 6.4 million Americans in 34 states would have lost the tax credits they rely on to provide health insurance for themselves and their families, and faced an average $3,200 tax hike.(Why/How its coming anyway) Many would have been forced to go without health insurance.

Eliminating these tax credits would not only have undermined the entire Affordable Care Act, it would have put the health and lives of Americans at risk. As the American Hospital Association warned in its amicus brief, a ruling for the plaintiffs would have been "a disaster for millions of lower and middle-income Americans" and "the ranks of the uninsured [would] swell again, with all that portends in the way of untreated illness and overwhelming debt." (wait till they use and see deductible)

The reason we passed the Affordable Care Act was simple - so that every American could have the security of knowing their health care would be there when they needed it most. No one should ever have to go to sleep at night worried that their child won't get the treatments they need, or that an accident or illness will bankrupt their entire family. (Public Unions are Bankrupting the working person)

Your opinion, which was eloquent in its simplicity, clearly recognized Congress' intent. As you wrote, "Congress passed the Affordable Care Act to improve health insurance markets, not to destroy them." I could not agree more. (I imagine Erie/Allstate/Aetna are huge contributors to campaigns)

When we passed this historic law back in 2010, we stated our intent clearly. We had exactly 60 members of the Democratic caucus in the Senate, and each of us knew precisely what the law would do - ensure that middle-class Americans, regardless of what state they lived in, would have access to the tax credits they needed to afford health care. If governors did not want to set up their own health insurance exchange, they could rely on the federal exchange and still offer their residents the full benefit of the law. (Middle-class Americans are the workers and majority of them have/had Health Insurance I see it as a punishment for alot of their plans to end and be required to sign-up for OC)

We knew these tax credits were essential to all the other reforms in the law - such as ending discrimination against those with preexisting conditions, ensuring women are not charged more for their coverage because they are women, and guaranteeing Americans access to life-saving preventive health services like annual exams and cancer screenings. (Possibly a benefit but if other services are required, deductibles cost ?)

These tax credits have now made it possible for more than 9 million men, women, and children to have health care coverage - some for the first time ever. We know this coverage is saving lives. (As a Senator, I can't understand how she could ignore this for 32 years?)

Take David Tedrow of Durham, North Carolina. Without the benefit of these tax credits - which helped him afford health insurance - he never would have been able to get the liver transplant he needed to save his life. He wrote recently that these tax credits were "the difference between life and death."

I want to thank you for making a decision that put the welfare of Americans like David Tedrow ahead of partisan politics. I want to thank you for taking the time to recognize Congress' true intent. And I want to thank you for ensuring that millions of Americans will be able go to sleep tonight knowing their health insurance will be there when they need it. ($11,150 in income is needed to be eligible for OC so I no matter who won't qualify for OC, until they get work?)

Sincerely,

Barbara Boxer
United States Senator

Who pays Barbara's salary and Health Insurance?

Not the unfortunate......

Disgusted, those who don't work or do work for cash are receiving FS/Medicade/Housing/Transportation/ETC... No need to apply for OC!

While @ BK before work I sat behind a grandmother with her granddaughter and this woman knew everyone who walked in and was asking them for their receipt. Call # on back of receipt take a 5 minute survey and you get a code from BK for Buy 1 Get 1 sandwich. Anyway a lady sits down with her and asks her how her daughter is and she laughs and says fine now that she was able to move into Public Housing after getting out of Water St. (local prison) Grandma says she takes little Sara T-F-Saturdays so Mom can work delivering pizza's for Joe's who pays her cash........

I never heard of 32 year Barbara or saw anyone talk of her, here or in papers popcorn-eatinggif

i have a problem with people who can afford health care, do not purchase it then use it and do not pay. you may not think people should be forced to buy it then the hospitals should bot
be forced to treat those who do not have and who refuse to pay

Obamacare, for all it's flaws, allowed people who couldn't get Health Insurance because of Pre Existing Conditions to get health care. It is Not Free health care.

Then its a simple probably 2-page law that could have been enacted stating it is illegal to deny insurance to anyone with pre-existing conditions. Quick and easy....

Also, why were there so many closed door meeting with hospitals, and insurance companies? Why wasn't the bill able to be read by the general public before it went to a vote? Why weren't the meeting between the hospitals and insurance companies behind closed doors transcribed and documented for the American Citizens to read or watch?

This law befuddles me in so many ways, and I still don't understand whats really going on with it.

All I know is that since it was enacted my rates are over double what they were, my co-pays, prescriptions, and premiums have doubled AND tripled (co-pays and prescriptions tripled).

I work hard for my insurance and getting butt fucked for providing for myself and my family... Yet there are a vast amount of people who haven't worked and put no effort into it, and my rates went up to provided for them.

Shared responsibility my ass.... What are they sharing? Im sharing... and they are taking.

And many people's rates have either gone down, or have increased at a lower rate, than it did before Obamacare. There are some winners, some losers. The Insurance Companies ALWAYS win, and your ire should be directed at them, not at a law that has allowed uninsured people to become insured, or poor people that are now able to get Health insurance that was too expensive before. Obamacare has many flaws, and now is the time to stop silly political arguments about repealing it, and start trying to fix it.

I think that's where the "Backroom Deals" comes in.... making sure the insurance companies would win. That's why this Obamacare bill is a piece of garbage, and should have been an effort to help the people... ALL the people. No a few here, while hurting a few there.

This country continues to go downhill, and the takers increase in numbers with every generation. What happens when the takers outnumber those who are forced to care for them?

The biggest "takers" are the Corporations and the extremely wealthy. Hopefully when/if that is reversed and they pay their fair share, the downward trend will reverse. It's easy to be outraged at a Welfare Mom on TV, or others gaming the system, but their gaming is miniscule compared to the Crooks on Wall Street.
Obamacare was garbage because it didn't go nearly far enough in making sure every American has health insurance, like citizens of almost every Civilized Nation have. But it's a bit better than what we had before, IMO, despite all it's flaws, and it's fixable if the damn Politicians just take Politics out of it.

Ted's Story He wrote recently

The Obamacare subsidies saved my life. Now, I’m scared the Supreme Court is going to gut them.

In 2010, at 54, I was diagnosed with non-alcoholic cirrhosis (end-stage liver disease). It’s debilitating, and a transplant is the only cure.

At that time, I owned a jewelry store with my wife in Pawleys Island, S.C.On weekends we would meet friends, walk on the beach and join in community events. My wife and I would travel regularly to see our daughters and take annual vacations. We enjoyed a rich and full life.

The disease quickly robbed me off all that. One of my first symptoms was an accumulation of ammonia in the brain. I became highly forgetful — I forgot how to get out of a car and how to answer the phone. I couldn’t remember how to make change for customers. One day, I tried to go home from work and got lost.

As the disease worsened, I tried to make the best of it. My wife and I were lucky to have private insurance for high-risk patients. It cost $2,000 a month with a $5,500 deductible. That cost was high, but we didn’t have any other choice. My liver ailment and diabetes were pre-existing conditions that would have made it impossible to find a new plan.

I stopped working at the store in November 2012. My life was a roller-coaster ride of monthly blood transfusions, hospital admissions, severe memory loss and the loss of my ability to drive. I slept most of the time and depended on my wife for all of my care. We would drive 3.5 hours to Duke Medical Center several times a month for transfusions.

Treating my condition eventually took up so much time that we closed our store. In June 2013, we sold our home in Pawleys Island and moved to Durham, N.C.

In October 2013, I got a letter from my insurance company telling me that my existing high-risk insurance would be ending effective Dec. 31, 2013. I was told that if I wanted continued medical insurance, I would have to find another provider.

I was terrified. At this point, I was so ill that my wife had to be a full-time caregiver for me. We were living on my Social Security Disability check, a drastic change in income for both of us. We could not afford the hundreds of thousands of dollars a liver transplant would have cost. And without insurance, I would have been dropped from the transplant list. I would have died.

On Jan. 1 this year, I started on the Obamacare insurance. I now pay just $126 a month for insurance; a federal government subsidy covers the rest. If we had to cover the full cost of our health care, we would have just $574 left each month for all of our other expenses, including food and medicines.

By April, I was dying. Then, miraculously, on April 3, a liver became available. I was given a second chance. I had the liver transplant, and my insurance covered the entire cost of the procedure.

From my signing up with OC you are required to answer alot of personal questions...... income/assets/ETC..... Interesting he qualified, My payment for OC was the same as Ted's and I received a $372 subsidy based on my income. I did not have a Jewelery store nor a sale of a home on Pawleys Island to report :think2: I did have a full life but a Rich life? Said it b4 but now it is reality.... Good Luck Ted!

Tea Partying, Anti-Obamacare Ex-Sheriff Now Begging for Help to Pay Medical Bills

Aww! The Bundy Ranch "freedom fighter" has had to set up a GoFundMe site for his wife and himself.

By Brad Friedman / The Brad Blog
March 2, 2015

This story is reposted with permission from The BradBlog.
The courageous 'Tea Party' leader and former County Sheriff who hid behind the women on the 'front lines of freedom' at the Bundy Ranch last year, is now asking the public to pay for much needed health care for both himself and his wife. Via TPM...
Former Arizona county sheriff Richard Mack, a fierce opponent of Obamacare and a leader in the "constitutional sheriff" movement, is struggling to pay his medical bills after he and his wife each faced serious illnesses. The former sheriff and his wife do not have health insurance and started a GoFundMe campaign to solicit donations from family and friends to cover the costs of their medical care.
"Because they are self-employed, they have no medical insurance and are in desperate need of our assistance," reads a note on Mack's personal website.
Mack, the founder of the Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association, suffered a heart attack in January and is in recovery. His wife fell ill late last year. Mack is on the board of Oath Keepers, a right-wing fringe group made up of police and military veterans, and is known for supporting Cliven Bundy in his standoff against the federal government. He is also an ardent opponent of Obamacare.
Well, huh. If only the tens of millions of Americans who were unable to receive health care prior to enactment of the Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare"), had just made a public name for themselves and then created GoFundMe sites to convince others to give them money to help pay for their care.
Others paying money to help their fellow countrymen receive health care. Now where have we heard that before? Oh, yeah. Too bad Mack appears to have been too much of a dumbass to sign up for Obamacare following his heart attack in January and prior to the close of this year's open enrollment period. We suspect he would have received great care at an affordable rate.
In case you don't recognize the name, Mack is the guy who, during the wingnut uprising in support of scofflaw Nevada rancher/bigot Cliven Bundy last year, discussed the Tea Partiers' courageous plan to use their wives as human shields. "We were actually strategizing to put all the women up at the front," Mack told Fox "News". "If they are going to start shooting, it's going to be women that are going to be televised all across the world getting shot by these rogue federal officers."
Here's hoping both he and his wife receive the important medical care they deserve, even if other people are paying for it --- just as they would have, without begging, had Mack bothered to sign himself and his wife up for that federal tyranny known as Obamacare.

Man Who Would Rather Go Blind Than Get Obamacare Now Going Blind.

Who should save the sight of an uninsured South Carolina man who can’t afford eye surgery? That’s the question the Charlotte Observer asks in a story about a 49-year-old Republican who declined to sign up for Obamacare because he “prided himself on paying his own medical bills,” and is now upset that the Affordable Care Act won’t bail him out.
Luis Lang, a self-employed handyman from Fort Mill whose clients include the federal government, told the Observer he “knew the act required him to get coverage but he chose not to do so. But he thought help would be available in an emergency,” like the mini-strokes and deteriorating vision he suffered in February.
It’s not available though, because that’s not how insurance works. Insurance companies are profitable because they take your money before you incur major medical expenses, not because they save new customers’ eyes for free. It’s almost like the needs of the market aren’t aligned with the needs of actual human beings, as if the American healthcare system encourages people to gamble that they’ll stay healthy instead of getting insurance, and forces society to bear the costs when the house wins (which is always).
If only there were some way to make people get insurance, and maybe even help them pay for it to save all of us money in the long run.
Nahhh, that’s crazy.

Anyway, Lang is now stuck in a position where, suddenly having come around on this whole insurance thing with the impending loss of his eyesight, it’s too late for him to sign up under what his wife calls “The Not Fair Health Care Act.” Furthermore, his income has dropped now that he’s out of work, making him ineligible for a federal insurance subsidy. (What about Medicaid, you ask? Well, South Carolina was one of 17 states that opted out of the ACA’s Medicaid expansion.)
For now, Lang’s doctor, Malcolm Edwards, will keep treating him for free, but he doesn’t have the expertise to do the surgery Lang needs. And he can’t force his patient to take care of himself.
“There’s a lot of talk about personal responsibility in health care reform,” the Observer observes, “so it’s probably fair to note that Lang is a smoker who has, by his own account, been inconsistent in his efforts to control his diabetes.”
Cool.
Lang has set up a GoFundMe page, and people are donating—because even though it’s insane to blame Obamacare, the system really is fucked up—but they’re also chastising him for being “a poster child for what you claim to be against” and “voting against [your] own self-interest.”

A conservative video blogger with over a million views on YouTube said this week that he would likely vote for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton because he was terrified that a Republican president would take away his affordable health insurance.
James Webb, a 51-year-old YouTube celebrity who devotes his “Hot Lead” channel to topics like his love of guns and ranting about gay men kissing on The Walking Dead, may have shocked his viewers on Monday when he revealed that he was torn over which party to vote for in the 2016 election.
“And I’m serious because I asked myself, ‘Which party has helped me out the most in the last, I don’t know, 15 years, 20?’ And it was the Democrat [SIC] Party,” Webb lamented. “If it wasn’t for Obama and that Obamacare, I would still be working.”
“With Obamacare, I got to retire at age 50 because if it wasn’t for Obamacare, I would have had to work until I was 65 and get on Medicare because health insurance is expensive when you’ve got medical problems,” he continued.
Webb said that he hoped to lose some weight and get in shape by taking advantage of a gym membership that was covered by his health insurance.
“But you know, the Republican Party, they haven’t done nothing for me, man. Nothing,” he remarked. “So, I’m leaning toward voting for Hillary unless something major comes up. I don’t trust the Republicans anymore because they’re wanting to repeal the Obamacare. And I don’t want them to do that, man, because then I’ll have to go to work again. My life’s already planned out.”
“Just a tough decision,” Webb sighed. “I voted for Republicans for 32 years, I’m a charter member of my Tea Party Patriots chapter. I’m also a veteran of the U.S. Army under Reagan, when Reagan was in. That was great when Reagan was in there.”
“Things have changed. So unless the Republicans change with it, I’m probably going to have to swing my vote over toward Hillary.”

Who is Barbara Boxer....... On January 8, 2015, Boxer announced that she would not seek re-election in 2016

Boxer was elected to the United States House of Representatives in 1982, defeating Dennis McQuaid. Her slogan was "Barbara Boxer Gives a Damn." In the House, she represented California District 6 (Marin and Sonoma Counties) for five terms.[SUP][10][/SUP]

Boxer was a Congress member of the original Select Committee on Children, Youth, and Families[SUP][11][/SUP] that was established in 1983.

In 1992, Boxer was implicated in the House banking scandal, which revealed that more than 450 congressional representatives and aides, herself included, wrote overdraft checks covered by overdraft protection by the House Bank. In response, she issued a statement saying "in painful retrospect, I clearly should have paid more attention to my account" and wrote a $15 check to the Deficit Reduction Fund for each of her 87 overdrafts 15 x's 87 = $1305! 87 x's amount of overdrafts = anyone's guess.........

Obama delivered his remarks today in the Rose Garden.

1. “There can be no doubt that this law is working.”

2. “We can see how it is working.”

3. “This law is working exactly as it’s supposed to.”

4. “In many ways, this law is working better than we expected it to.”

5. “This law is working. And it’s going to keep doing just that.”

6. “It’s workin’.”

If I didn’t know better I’d swear Vit wrote those talking points for him.

Lazy unproductive parasites and illegals get health care for free. Hard working taxpayers continue to pay through the ass.

What a great system Hussein and his libtards have given us.

how about that 28 year old white male who can afford health care but says fuck it I'm young and gets cancer?

Tell Paul to start a Go Fund Me page or go to church and beg for charity. Less video gaming on his 60' flat screen TV he chose over catastrophic health insurance is healthier.

I'm sorry, but explain why someone else's health care is YOUR personal business again?

Oh, I forgot. You believe in a 'system' that's designed to line the pockets of the elite, provide FreeStuff for the lazy, stupid and illegal, lower the quality of care for everyone, while stripping ever more wealth from honest hard working Americans.

Oh, and the next thing you and the other libtards will be pissing and moaning about is "Americas shrinking middle class" face)(*^%

This case was as clear as it gets. And somehow the good guys lost - AGAIN!

Conservatives wanted a strict constructionist like Janice Rogers Brown. Instead, George W. Bush gave us this disgrace of a judge who believes "good intentions" trump the letter of the law.

There is no logic in this decision at all because there is no longer any logic in Washington.

There is only corruption.
