GAME: Oakland Athletics (16-20) at Texas Rangers (18-20)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, May 14 - 3:05 PM EST
WHERE: Globe Life Park in Arlington, Arlington, Texas

The Texas Rangers put their five-game winning streak on the line when they host the Oakland Athletics on Sunday for the finale of their three-game series. Texas has outscored its opponents 31-12 during its run, which includes a 6-5 triumph on Saturday.

Elvis Andrus and Nomar Mazara combined to go 4-for-8 with five RBIs in the Rangers' most recent victory, which gave the Rangers a 4-0 record on their eight-game homestand. Oakland is hoping to avoid a three-game sweep, as well as its sixth loss in seven road contests, as it comes off an 11-hit effort. Yonder Alonso continues to swing a hot bat for the Athletics as he went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs in Saturday's loss. The 30-year-old Cuban has hit eight of his 12 home runs and registered 15 of his 29 RBIs in 11 games this month.

TV: 3:05 p.m. ET, NBC Sports California (Oakland), FSN Southwest (Texas)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Athletics RH Kendall Graveman (2-2, 3.67 ERA) vs. Rangers RH A.J. Griffin (4-0, 2.45)

Graveman is winless in his last four starts despite allowing fewer than three runs in three of the outings. The 26-year-old native of Alabama settled for a no-decision against the Los Angeles Angels on Monday after giving up two runs in seven innings. Graveman evened his career record versus the Rangers at 2-2 on April 8, when he yielded one run and two hits over seven frames at Texas en route to a victory.

Griffin has allowed a total of four earned runs while winning each of his last four starts - all on the road. The 29-year-old Californian is coming off the second shutout of his career and first since 2013, a four-hitter at San Diego on Tuesday in which he issued just one walk for the fourth straight outing. Griffin, who began his career with Oakland, is 1-0 with a 3.86 ERA in two turns versus his former team this season.

WALK-OFFS

1. Athletics DH Ryon Healy has registered four two-hit performances in his last eight games.

2. Oakland OF Jaff Decker was sent outright to Triple-A Nashville on Saturday - four days after being designated for assignment.

3. Texas RHP Tyson Ross (shoulder) is expected to throw 60 pitches in an extended spring-training game on Thursday after allowing a run and three hits while throwing 45 pitches over three innings in a contest on Saturday.

Preview: Dodgers at Rockies
GAME: Los Angeles Dodgers (22-15) at Colorado Rockies (23-15)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, May 14 - 3:10 PM EST
WHERE: Coors Field, Denver, Colorado
Despite entering this weekend's series against the Los Angeles Dodgers with an 8-3 record versus left-handed starters, the Colorado Rockies may be reaching their breaking point against their National League West rival's southpaws. The Dodgers eye their eighth win in nine tries Sunday, when they conclude their four-game series versus the host Rockies.

Colorado roughed up left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu for 10 runs - five earned - in Thursday's series-opening 10-7 victory, but Los Angeles evened up the series as Clayton Kershaw held the Rockies to two runs over seven innings in Friday's 6-2 triumph. Fellow southpaw Alex Wood upstaged his three-time Cy Young Award-winning teammate one night later, striking out 10 over six scoreless frames in a 4-0 win - the Rockies' second home shutout loss of the season. Colorado will try to avoid matching its longest losing streak of the year and end a 14-inning scoreless drought in the finale against yet another left-hander in Julio Urias, who took a no-hitter into the seventh inning in his last outing. The Rockies have allowed 11 extra-base hits while managing only two over their last two games, although DJ LeMahieu has continued to do his job at the top of the order, accounting for five of his team's 14 hits over that time.

TV: 3:10 p.m. ET, SportsNet LA (Los Angeles), ROOT (Colorado)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Dodgers LH Julio Urias (0-0, 1.06 ERA) vs. Rockies RH Antonio Senzatela (5-1, 2.86)

Urias was forced to settle for his third no-decision in as many turns this season on Tuesday against Pittsburgh after yielding only one run on one hit and two walks over 6 1/3 innings. The 20-year-old Mexican is holding opponents to a .164 batting average but has given up more free passes (10) over 17 frames than hits (nine). Urias was reached for three runs in as many innings during a relief spot last year in Coors Field and did not factor into the decision in his only career start against the Rockies.

Senzatela posted his fifth quality start in six outings Tuesday, getting the win at home versus the Chicago Cubs after yielding two runs on five hits and three walks in six frames. The NL Rookie of the Month for April, who has watched Colorado score at least 10 runs in three of his last four outings, is 3-1 with a 3.12 ERA in four turns at Coors Field. Senzatela will make his first career start versus the Dodgers after collecting four of his first five victories against division rivals San Diego and San Francisco.

WALK-OFFS

1. Saturday's win was Los Angeles' 100th at Coors Field - the first visiting club to reach that mark in Colorado.

2. Senzatela is one of six active pitchers to go 5-1 or better with a sub-3.00 ERA in his first seven career starts.

3. The Dodgers are responsible for three of the five losses (in 14 games) the Rockies have suffered against left-handed starters.

Preview: Tigers at Angels
GAME: Detroit Tigers (18-17) at Los Angeles Angels (18-21)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, May 14 - 3:37 PM EST
WHERE: Angel Stadium of Anaheim, Anaheim, California

There was some thought that Detroit was rushing J.D. Martinez back to action after he missed seven weeks with a foot injury, but he’s quickly addressed those concerns. Martinez appears to be in midseason form heading into Sunday’s series finale against the host Los Angeles Angels, who are wishing the Tigers had postponed the right fielder’s return just a few days more.

In his second game back from the disabled list, Martinez hit a pair of homers Saturday - including a go-ahead blast in the ninth inning off Angels closer Bud Norris as the Tigers won 4-3 to move one game over .500 at 18-17. “You can tell how much we missed (Martinez) just from one game,” Detroit manager Brad Ausmus told reporters. Angels star Mike Trout also appears completely healthy after missing five games with a tight right hamstring, going 3-for-7 with two home runs and three RBIs in his last two contests. Cameron Maybin went 0-for-4 on Saturday and is batting .187 for the Angels, who have dropped eight of their last 11 games.

TV: 3:37 p.m. ET, FSN Detroit, FSN West (Los Angeles)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Tigers RH Justin Verlander (3-2, 4.25 ERA) vs. Angels RH Alex Meyer (1-1, 7.62)

Verlander recorded his second straight victory on Tuesday against Arizona, allowing three runs with seven strikeouts over six frames. The former American League Cy Young Award winner has thrown at least 103 pitches in six of his seven outings. Trout is 1-for-15 with five strikeouts against Verlander, who is 6-7 with a 3.67 ERA in 16 career starts against Los Angeles but 2-4 with a 5.98 ERA in seven turns at Angel Stadium.

Meyer bounced back from a rough outing against Seattle by allowing three runs and recording seven strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings in Tuesday’s 7-3 win over Oakland. The 6-9, 225-pound Meyer was sent to the minors after struggling in spring training but returned to the majors after Tyler Skaggs landed on the disabled list. The 27-year-old continues to struggle with his control as he has a 14-to-12 strikeout-to-walk ratio over his first three starts.

WALK-OFFS

1. Detroit can secure its first series victory at Angel Stadium since 2009 with a win on Sunday.

2. The Angels have scored three runs or fewer in 11 of their last 19 games.

3. Tigers RHP Shane Greene has a 1.17 ERA over his last 15 appearances covering 15 1/3 innings.

Preview: Reds at Giants
GAME: Cincinnati Reds (19-17) at San Francisco Giants (14-24)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, May 14 - 4:05 PM EST
WHERE: AT&T Park, San Francisco, California

The San Francisco Giants attempt to extend their winning streak to a season-high three contests when they host the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday for the finale of a four-game series. Brandon Belt and Justin Ruggiano each homered in Saturday’s 3-1 victory after San Francisco outlasted the Reds for a 3-2 triumph in 17 innings one night earlier.

Denard Span had just one hit on Saturday, but is 8-for-16 in the series with a pair of homers and three RBIs to lead the Giants, who should have All-Star Buster Posey back in the lineup after he caught 17 innings and belted a walk-off homer Friday before being rested Saturday. Jeff Samardzija will try to post his first victory of the season for San Francisco as he goes to the mound against fellow right-hander Tim Adleman, who attempts to win his third straight start. Cincinnati, which swept the Giants last weekend at home, has cooled off after winning nine of 11 games - ending with a 3-2 victory in the series opener. Scott Schebler belted his 10th homer for the Reds' only run Saturday and is 5-for-11 in the last two contests, while teammate Joey Votto boasts a seven-game hitting streak in which he is 10-for-29 with eight RBIs.

TV: 4:05 p.m. ET, FSN Ohio (Cincinnati), NBC Sports Bay Area (San Francisco)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Reds RH Tim Adleman (2-1, 4.44 ERA) vs. Giants RH Jeff Samardzija (0-5, 5.44)

Adleman has completed at least five innings in all four of his starts this season and won the last two, including Tuesday when he permitted three runs over five frames against the New York Yankees. The 29-year-old Georgetown product boasts 26 strikeouts and just six walks over 26 1/3 innings but surrendered seven homers in that span. Adleman, who gave up six runs (five earned) over 5 1/3 innings in his only road appearance this season, is four frames shy of 100 for his career and faces the Giants for the first time.

Samardzija has worked at least seven innings in four of his last five starts and the Giants won two of those contests without the 32-year-old being factored in the decision, but he gave up six runs in seven frames Tuesday versus the New York Mets. The Notre Dame product boasts 55 strikeouts and just 10 walks over 46 1/3 innings but has surrendered seven homers in as many starts. Devin Mesoraco is 6-for-11 with one homer against Samardzija, who is 2-5 with a 4.00 ERA in 25 games (11 starts) versus the Reds.

WALK-OFFS

1. Cincinnati CF Billy Hamilton sat out Saturday with a mild calf injury and could return for the series finale.

2. The Giants own a respectable 3.04 ERA at home this season despite going just 8-9 at AT&T Park.

3. Votto has belted 231 homers for the Reds, two behind Jay Bruce for seventh on the team’s all-time list.

Preview: Pirates at Diamondbacks
GAME: Pittsburgh Pirates (15-22) at Arizona Diamondbacks (21-17)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, May 14 - 4:10 PM EST
WHERE: Chase Field, Phoenix, Arizona

After making certain they would not go winless on their seven-game road trip, the Pittsburgh Pirates attempt to close it out with back-to-back triumphs when they visit the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday hoping to earn a split of their four-game series. Pittsburgh had dropped the first five games of its trek and six straight overall before edging Arizona 4-3 on Saturday.

The Pirates are showing signs they're ready to break out offensively, scoring four runs in each of their last two games after doing so just once in their previous nine contests. Arizona attempted to rally late from a 4-1 deficit and extend its winning streak to four games but fell just short. The Diamondbacks scored all their runs Saturday on solo homers, with Nick Ahmed belting a pair and Paul Goldschmidt also going deep. Ahmed's two-homer performance was the first of his career and gave him three blasts in as many games after he produced just one in his first 23 contests of the season.

TV: 4:10 p.m. ET, ROOT (Pittsburgh), FSN Arizona

PITCHING MATCHUP: Pirates RH Ivan Nova (3-3, 2.23 ERA) vs. Diamondbacks LH Robbie Ray (2-3, 4.14)

Nova is coming off a no-decision at Los Angeles on Tuesday in which he limited the Dodgers to two runs over 6 1/3 innings. The 30-year-old Dominican, who shares the major-league lead with two complete games, has yielded more than two runs just twice in seven outings this season. Nova won his only career start against Arizona, allowing two runs in five innings on April 16, 2013, while with the New York Yankees.

Ray has lost three consecutive starts, including an outing against Detroit on Tuesday in which he was tagged for five runs on five hits and as many walks over five innings. The 25-year-old native of Tennessee has recorded at least eight strikeouts in five of his seven turns this season - and each of his last three. Ray has yet to defeat Pittsburgh in his career, going 0-2 with a 7.71 ERA in three starts.

WALK-OFFS

1. Pirates 2B/OF Adam Frazier went 1-for-5 in his first start since returning from a stint on the 10-day disabled list due to a strained left hamstring.

2. Diamondbacks C Chris Iannetta hopes to avoid a trip to the DL after suffering a fractured nose and fractured teeth when he was hit in the face by a pitch on Friday.

3. Arizona, which scored 20 runs during its winning streak, has been held to three or fewer in each of its last six setbacks.

Preview: Phillies at Nationals
GAME: Philadelphia Phillies (13-20) at Washington Nationals (23-12)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, May 14 - 7:05 PM EST
WHERE: Nationals Park, Washington, District of Columbia

The Washington Nationals fought through two straight rainouts, gave Bryce Harper a record contract and pulled off a walk-off win on a busy Saturday. Harper and company are in for an even busier Sunday when they make up for Friday's rainout by hosting the Philadelphia Phillies in a day-night doubleheader.

Harper and the Nationals avoided arbitration next winter by agreeing to a $21.625 million extension for the 2018 season, the largest contract ever for an arbitration-eligible player, on Saturday and the All-Star outfielder went out later that night to belt a two-run walk-off homer to give Washington a 6-4 win over the Phillies. "He's our own," Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo told reporters of Harper. "Drafted, developed, signed, been an MVP for us. He's a very unique player. There's not many comps for his performance, both in the short-term and in the bulk throughout his career. So he's a unique player with a unique talent set that is our own. We love what he's done for us, and we couldn't be happier that we know where we're at in 2018." Harper is 3-for-14 with seven walks against Phillies Game 1 starter Jeremy Hellickson and 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBIs and two walks in his career against nightcap starter Vince Velasquez. Philadelphia, which dropped 11 of its last 13 games, will send its hitters up against lefty Gio Gonzalez and Washington ace Max Scherzer.

TV: 7:05 p.m. ET, CSN Philadelphia, MASN (Washington)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Phillies RH Vince Velasquez (2-3, 5.94 ERA) vs. Nationals RH Max Scherzer (4-2, 2.59)

Velasquez had a string of three straight solid outings come to an end against Washington on May 6, when he allowed six runs and seven hits over seven innings to suffer a loss. The 24-year-old struck out eight in that turn and posted his two biggest strikeout totals of the season against the Nationals after fanning 10 in a loss on April 7. Velasquez has 22 strikeouts in 17 career innings against Washington but is just 1-2 with a 6.88 ERA.

Scherzer can rack up some high strikeouts totals as well and punched out 11 in each of his last two outings. The reigning National League Cy Young Award winner took a no-hitter into the sixth inning at Baltimore on Tuesday but ended up without a decision as the Nationals went on to fall 5-4 in 12 innings. Scherzer went up against Velasquez on April 7 and earned the win while allowing two runs and four hits in 6 2/3 innings.
WALK-OFFS

1. Nationals SS Trea Turner is 3-for-29 over his last seven games, dropping his average from .316 to .257.

2. Philadelphia 1B Tommy Joseph is 11-for-23 with four doubles and two home runs in his last seven games.

3. Washington RHPs Koda Glover and Shawn Kelley were both activated off the disabled list on Friday and combined to throw 2 1/3 hitless innings on Saturday.

Preview: Astros at Yankees
GAME: Houston Astros (25-11) at New York Yankees (21-12)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, May 14 - 7:35 PM EST
WHERE: Yankee Stadium, Bronx, New York

Rain forced the New York Yankees to turn Derek Jeter Night into an all-day baseball extravaganza, as the squad will honor one of their all-time greats in the midst of a doubleheader against the visiting Houston Astros on Sunday. Jeter, the franchise's hit king and a five-time World Series champion, will have his No. 2 retired and a plaque placed in his honor on Monument Park prior to the nightcap.

Before that, the teams will play the makeup game from Saturday's postponement, as the Yankees try to slow down an Astros squad that has won five in a row after two straight victories to open the series. Former New York catcher Brian McCann slugged a three-run homer to lead the way in Friday's 5-1 win, which marked the sixth consecutive game in which MLB-leading Houston had held an opponent to three runs or fewer. The Yankees have dropped three in a row following their dominant 20-5 stretch. The twinbill is a single-admission event and the Jeter ceremony is scheduled to begin at 7:35 p.m., with the second game to follow.

TV: 7:35 p.m. ET, ESPN

PITCHING MATCHUP: Astros RH Charlie Morton (4-2, 3.63 ERA) vs. Yankees RH Masahiro Tanaka (5-1, 4.36)

Morton allowed one earned run in each of his last two starts and has 25 strikeouts in 18 2/3 innings over his last three outings. The New Jersey native kept the ball in the park in five of his last six outings, although opponents do have nine doubles and a triple in that span. Morton, 33, faced the Yankees just one time in his 10-year career, but he's seen plenty of Starlin Castro (12-for-27, three homers against Morton) and Matt Holliday (8-for-31).

Tanaka won each of his last five starts to push his career record to 44-17, allowing three earned runs on a season-high 10 hits in seven innings at Cincinnati his last time out. He allowed three home runs over his last two starts after giving up just one over his previous four outings. The 28-year-old owns a 6.89 ERA in three career meetings with Houston and both Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa are 4-for-9 against him.

WALK-OFFS

1. Houston's 25-11 record is its best ever after 36 games.

2. Astros CF George Springer has an 11-game hitting streak, although he has just one hit in each of the last seven affairs.

3. Yankees closer LH Aroldis Chapman allowed four runs on six hits and two walks in 1 1/3 innings over his last two appearances.
