"We're gonna be about the same team and we're probably gonna lose" generally makes fans restless but they aren't gonna get rid of Brown yet I don't think. You just can't get fair value for a 27 year old all star wing with hardly any injury history. Got 2 more years before Tatum has to make the supermax, at that point if they haven't won then I think they will probably trade Brown rather than have 2 guys on the team making 5/300ish each that hasn't won anything.

I'd expect he'll be on the team next year.

And I don't think Brown will take less money, one thing no one talks about is he probably already feels he took less money as his role/playing time was reduced in 2019 and he struggled when Irving/Hayward came back and he didn't get paid the full max because of it.

Also think in reality Boston doesn’t have many options personnel wise to make them tangibly better. Maybe retool the bench, but no earth shattering moves

It is interesting to think about what happens if they move Brown for Durant before the season started and got a healthy Durant this year. I figure Boston probably loses a key rotation player as well, but Tatum/Durant healthy would have been interesting with a solid supporting cast

Brown is eligible to sign the 5/295 when the new league year starts, I think that's like July 10th or something. Celts get swept and bombed out by the Heat and they probably wanna drop that 1 into a busy news cycle. If they win it all, probably would've just snap done it that day.

Obviously once he makes that (kicks in '24-25) team flexibility going to get harder going forward but I think they figure just pay him and figure the rest out later. Not like the minute you pay him he is untradeable like Jordan Poole.

"Bad genetics" Naw. They're just basketball players.

But individually they don't have a high basketball IQs. They definitely need strong coaching. They are getting just the opposite.

Brad Stevens is gonna have to pull some magic this offseason. They need to bring a Basketball smart take charge player here (like when Danny Ainge brought Kevin Garnett here). They have tradeable chips. But I'm not smart enough to figure out who that would be.

Without a doubt Mazzulla must go.
