Besides Brett Gardner, Alex Rodriguez and Mark Teixeira, no other member of the Yankees' projected starting lineup this season has been with the team for more than two years.

Yankees prospect Rob Refsnyder is trying to transition to third base to make the Yankees as a utility man -- it has not gone well the last two days. Each day, he has taken a ball off his face. On Friday, Refsnyder suffered a bloody lip, while Saturday he took a hard hop off his cheek bone. Refsnyder said after the game he was going to visit a doctor to find out the seriousness of the injury. Refsnyder won the College World Series MVP as an outfielder in 2012. The Yankees originally converted him to second base. Now, they hope he can be a utility guy, but so far he is picking up painful experience at third.

Soreness in the Diamondbacks All-Star center fielder's right elbow may cause him to start the regular season on the disabled list, manager Chip Hale mentioned Saturday. The discomfort has kept him out since March 8 and he has just eight official at-bats this exhibition season.

Just four Cactus League games remain for the Dodgers, but it looks like rookie SS Corey Seager (sprained knee) could play in one. Seager hasn't played in a major league game in two weeks, but saw action in a minor league game Saturday and had no restrictions.

2B Logan Forsythe will be at the top of Tampa Bay's order this season, manager Kevin Cash said Sunday. Forsythe had a breakout year in 2015, posting a career high .804 OPS, but none of his 148 starts came as a leadoff hitter.

Asdrubal Cabrera said he will be in a Grapefruit League game on Monday. He will play four innings at shortstop in a minor league game on Sunday. Cabrera, returning from a knee injury, preferred to get in a game in the field on the minor league side before facing major league competition for the first time since March 10. He had only served as the DH before today in minor league action the past week.

The Mets are leaning toward having Kevin Plawecki open the season as the backup to Travis d'Arnaud at the major league level, not get at-bats at Triple-A Las Vegas to begin the season. That said, they have told their scouts to be on the lookout for an available backup catcher. That type of acquisition is not foreseeable, though, because of the scarcity. Out-of-options Bryan Holiday is available with the Tigers, but the Mets view that as more of a lateral move compared with Johnny Monell and do not seem interested.

The Yankees Jacoby Ellsbury is back in the lineup on Sunday for the first time since being hit on his right wrist a week ago. Manager Joe Girardi has what could be his regular lineup for the season with Ellsbury, Brett Gardner, Alex Rodriguez, Mark Teixeira, Brian McCann, Carlos Beltran, Chase Headley, Starlin Castro and Didi Gregorius batting in that order to face former Yankee Phil Hughes.
