If the solution is starting useless threads that doesn't bring the views , that isn't the right path either if thats the goal..
If I see a thread with the name calling going back and forth with pedo etc, I pretty much scroll past it
Good threads in the poly forum outnumber the bad ones.. the bad ones don't have to be bad threads. Just put the poster on ignore and move on with those threads. I have several of those left wing nut jobs on ignore. Works for me. I don't see any bad threads. I read the content , post in it, or move on.
We'll agree to disagree about the good threads in the poly forum that outnumber the bad ones. I see a bunch of spam in there by the same people. Now if you are on the same page as those people, i could see where it could be good.
Nothing wrong with a good debate or respectful disagreement in the poly forum. Always fun to read.
However when people carry grudges and annoy you in other forums, you'll get a point. If you are an a-hole to the mods, you get a point. If you rack up enough points, you get the boot.
Just like when we went to school. If you bug the teacher enough, you get detention. You get enough detentions, you get suspended. You get suspended enough, you get expelled.
Its that simple
Might be a little different if a mod that was involved in the political debate did the banning
I've seen one or two or more mods throw out some shit in a few heated discussions over the years, don't have a problem with that either. But if that mod then bans his adversary, then that's not a good look
Trying to change the forum is not going to happen without resistance. People inherently resent change. And truthfully, the subforums have more traffic than the other forums from like April through July / August
