Seeing the Munson card reminds me of the time I traded this neighborhood kid, this was after Thurman had died...I traded him a couple current star cards and casually asked for the cards he was holding, lol, he didn't realize he had Munson , it was a rookie card with another player,lol...

What great memories card collecting was, when it was innocent and just a hobby!

FW do you recall the 1969 Allstar cards , with the player breaking thru the newspaper? I also recall the black border cards , the playoff card, it was the orioles so it was easy to remember...One had Jim Palmer with the quote 'Palmer Mows Em Down" high leg kick photo... FW try to find that one!

Fish do you recall those old football cards early 70's...they were much larger in comparison to the reg cards, I believe you bought them one at a time...

Or those 3-D cards in the Kellogs Cereal? They were unique!

How about the year they had the baseball coins in the pack of cards, probably like 1971

Myself and a buddy used to play Madden Football and gamle for hundreds of dollars of cards per game. I still remember back in the early 80's when the trading card hobby really started to pick up and have value. My Joe Montana rookie card came out priced at around $150 in the very first Beckett Football price guide, which was a lot for a football card at the time. I was much younger then, but I lost it and some other cards to him and I stayed up all freakin night trying to win that thing back! :sad3: :ohno: :>Grin>

And of course the best. A 1972 Billy Martin with a message for his fans. Look at his hand on the bat.

That's funny Hache, betting on Madden with baseball and football cards...although you seem to be a football guy....Hache do you remember "Baseball Stars" I believe it was on the old Sega System? How about Intellivision Football?

J~Man, I remember Intellivision. Man, that was the shiznit back then! lol.....compared to Atari! Guys, all of those old cards are nice, but the cards they put out today are much more fun and valuable. Autographs by rookies and stars right out of packs, so you know they are legit and authentic, cards with pieces of game used jerseys that the player actually wore in a game. The hobby is just fun now~a~days. I actually have been in discussion with Upper Deck trading card company about a new idea I came up with that they surprisingly hadn't even considered yet. Maybe I will be awarded as I should...........

Hache - I disagree, you see , your in it for the value of the card it seems....

I was in it for the keepsake, not any monetary reason, thats why the cards today will never go up in comparison....Like everything else Hache , sports was better 25 years ago, it was a more humble time, when dollar $igns werent everything....

I could care less about an autograph or a supposed game jersey, thats all hype...then again I could care less about any modern athlete, because they sure as hell only care about themselves , this is not 1975.
