Picks for Tuesday, 12/23

Ok, two things...

First off, the play for the Poinsetta bowl...which as far as bowl names go is without a doubt the best one...is TCU (-3). Now, I read in the paper that standout LB Robert Henson may not play in the game but that will have no impact on the game overall...so we will look to go to 5-1 overall with the TCU Horned Frogs (-3)...

Also, if anyone reads the forum daily, this next side bet has nothing to do with me, the Round Table, etc. In fact, Sami Farha & Ace-Ace (and I think one more, I may be missing someone, please do not be offended) are the true credit for this pick. These guys are veteran posters and they have been tracking some over-unders for the last couple of months or so in the NCAA Football. Bottom line is that it's not a system but has been nothing but some hard work and reasearch. My props go out to theses forum vets...oh and they have a pretty good track record...

The point that I am trying to make is that their first play of the college bowl season will be during this game. They like the OVER (opened at 45, currently at 46). This has nothing to do with the Rounda Table but we will will all be playing...I personally have a couple hundred on it...

So to recap...the Round Table takes the TCU (-3)

Side bet will be Over the total 46 tomorrow night...

Good luck, Have Fun...Shakes

Picks for Wednesday, 12/24

The Round Table hates Notre Dame...except for member Mike, he's a ND fan, but we were all unanimous in this one...we like Notre Dame...so needless to say, the pick for the Hawaii bowl is:

Noter Dame (-1.5)

I hate ND as do three of the other guys. My wife hates them too but the pick here is ND. Not much else to say but I think that ND plays their best game of the year and wins...it's gonna suck to cheer for them but that's what we got to do...

Personally, I will take a close look at the o/u in the game and get back to you all...

Pick for Friday, 12/26

This one was one of othe easiest dicussions that we had all year...we probably didn't spend more than 10 minutes on it. For once, we were all in agreement...the line is just wrong and the Chippewas will win pretty big...

Central Michigan (-6.5)

(Most places have it -7 but out local guy has still has it -6.5)

Enjoy...Shakes

I'll put up Saturday games later in the week...note on the Wisky game Saturday, Johnny Casillas starting LB is out. Unlike the TCU/B St game, I do believe that this injury will have an impact on the outcome, not just for his on the field play, but he's a senior and leader off of it as well...pay attention to the line change.

The Round Table likes the Seminoles in the match up already...the line has gone from (-4.5 to -5.5) so watch this one through the week...I'm locking it today...

Round Table Picks (4-2)

We lost the...ready...San Diego County Credit Union Poinsietta Bowl last night, not once, but twice...

First off the Horned Frogs handed the Broncos their only loss of the season. No cover and no win. The record is now:

ATS: 4-2 (+180)

In addition, we lost the side bet as well as we were expecting the total over 46. Again, win or lose, I would not take credit for this pick. Still, we lost a couple hunny on the game and it really wasn't close...overall, it was a good game but I would rather have the cash.

Side bets: 2-1

The pick for tonight's game is still Notre Dame, locked at -1.5...

But, the most important thing for today is that it is Christmas Eve and tomorrow Christmas. We should all take a moment to reflect on the things that we have, be grateful that we have someplace to be, and more so, that we have someone to share it with. Personally, Christmas for me, is not a day, or holiday, but a feeling. Enjoy the holiday season and keep a peace after it is over...

Merry Christmas everyone!

Round Table Picks (5-2)

Merry Day after Christmas everyone...

Christmas Eve saw a victory for ND and boost the Round Table record to:

ATS: 5-2 (+280)

Side Bets: 2-1

Tonight's pick is Central Michigan (-7)

This was, just to reiterate, was one of the easiest picks for the Round Table. We are hardly ever in agreement on anything...remember, there are 5 of us so it's a very rare thing that we all see eye to eye on everything...and, this was one of those picks...

We will be back tomorrow to get the picks for the Saturday games...have an awesome day and we will check you later...

Actually, that's the hard part...you gotta picture a table, five guys sitting around it, cigar smoke in the air, beer and other assorted beverages littering the table, food wrapper (today's menuw includes sushi and chinese)...the discussions get intense but very few are willing to give up easily...it's a honed tradition and since we've been doing it for a long time, well, it's easy to push buttons b/c we know each other so well. In the end, the clearest and most logical agruement (based on fact) - wins...

Sorry I missed you man but keep checking back...

Round Table Picks for Saturday, 12/27 (5-3)

Last night's lost dropped the Round Table to:

ATS: 5-3 (+170)

Side Bets: 2-1

We were all a little shocked at how well FAU played last night. So far in this bowl season, this was provided us with the least amount of discussion. C Mich was the better team, the line was wrong and we thought it to be an easy winner...WRONG! (It happens...)

Before I get to the picks, we have some good news to share and the Round Table has grown by one over the holidays as member John had a little baby boy...10 fingers and 10 toes and healthy as a bear. Baby and mama are doing great. So for the upcoming discussion, we may or may not be short a man. Welcome to the world little man!

The other good news is that member Fat Mike celebrates his 34th bday today. And, yes, he is Fat...

Finally, the picks for Saturday:

West Virginia (-2)
Florida State (-6)
California (-10)

Now, we locked in Cal back over a week ago at -7 with our local guy, the other guys in the round table will still take it at -10, I am a little hesitant...but since we are all in agreement, for the purposes of what everyone else will be getting Cal at, the line will -10 for this thread...when I update the records for the thread later today/tom, the line for the Cal game will be -10...

Anyway,, those are the picks for today, all favorites but we feel pretty strong about it...I personally will be taking the Florida St game myself for 2 hunny (if people have read this thread, I got it -4.5 last week...). Again, for the purpose of this thread, the line will -6. There's no such thing as a "lock" but this one is my personal favorite...either way, good luck and have fun...

Round Table Review (6-4) w/ one to go...

The West Virginia game was a fun to watch but resulted in a loss for the Round Table and dropped the record to:

ATS: 5-4 (+60)

And, then, Florida State came along and absolutely destroyed Wisky, which is what I am drinking (ironically enough) and not only restored the faith but added a nice chunk of change to my wallet...which is good b/c I have been in a personal funk lately. Confidence is back and the record goes to:

ATS: 6-4 (+160)

Now, we cheer on the Bears of California as thew Round Table has them at (-10)...

Enjoy the game...I'll be back for some "side bets", my own personal picks, for tomorrow's NFL as well as the LA Tech-N Illinois game...

Keep it up Shake...I'm looking forward to this now...as the bowls are getting bigger and better every day!

I took UNC, FSU, and CAL. Hope cal pulls it off, but wish I had that -7 right now!

The Cal loss dropped the record to:

6-5 (+50)

In the NFL today, I took the Patriots (-5.5) for the 1.00pm start. I couldn't get in front of the computer until now so we will not count it for today and the side bets. As for the 4.00pm games, I have $200 (220-200) on each of the following:

Arizona Cardinals (-7)
San Francisco 49ers (-2.5)

I am also going to add the Dolphins (+3) which my local book has at 130 to win 100. I am also going to do something that I normally don't do, which is bet on the hometown Eagles (-2) 110 to win 100...so that's an usually high 4 bets on the 4.00pm games. These are not the Round Table picks but only my peronsal plays for the NFL...the "side bets".

As for the Round Table, we have decided on taking the LA Tech (-2.5). So, let's get the cover and stay on the plus side...

Good Luck, Have fun...Shakes

Round Table Picks (Monday, 12/29)

Well, well, well...First off, let's get to business...LA Tech wins last night and more importantly, covers the spread, to push the record for the Round Table to:

ATS: 7-5 (+150)
Side bets: 6-1

One a personal note, I had a monster Sunday going undefeated and digging myself out of hole and into the plus side in a BIG way! Posted side bets alone went 4-0! So, nice day all around.

Eagles a monster winner of the 'Boys to make the play offs...it was a wonderful way to close out a beautiful holiday weekend...

Finally, onto today's picks. They are:

Rutgers (-6.5)
Missouri (-12.5)

Rutgers has been hot...Missouri's pissed and their offense will be a bit too much for NW.

Finally, with all due respect to Ace-Ace/Sami Farha/theJackal, I will also be adding a side bet today for the 3.00pm game. Now, this is not my pick but the aforementioned posters. Their research has indicated that we should play the under the UNDER 56 in the Rutgers/NC State. And, I will add this as a side bet play 110/100...

So, there you have it...three plays total...two sided and a total...feel pretty confident about all of them so, as always, have fun...

Round Table Picks - Tuesday, 12/30/08

Well, both dogs covered yday afternoon to drop the Round Table record to:

ATS: 7-7 (-70)

Side bets are now up to a pretty damn good 7-1 overall.

The Round Table has never been at or below 50% (ever!) so we will be looking to take at least two of three today. I never say that we will guarentee anything, but we will end up on the plus side. Here's the picks for today:

Nevada (-2.5)
Rice (-3)
Oklahoma State (-2.5)

A little bit of analysis:

Nevada is the more consistent team.
Rice was a unanimous choice among the Round Table.
Oklahoma State is the better team from the better conference.

Also, I have noticed a trend here lately as the Round Table has taken mostly favorites but I can assure you that this is merely a coincedence. We actually like taking the underdogs but these are the picks.

Back with more plays about 10-11a tomorrow...

One side bet today:

NCAA BB - Syracuse Orangeman (-12.5). Most people look like they will be on Seton Hall tonight, but I see the return of Eric Devendorf has a huge thing and the Orange make a statement. The side bets are my own personal plays and well, me likey the streak I have been on, so me look to stay hot.

Also, look out for my NFL plays, my own personal NFL plays, is the NFL Forum later in the week...8-3 ATS the last 3 years and chasing the ever elusive 11-0 NFL playoffs.

And, as always, have fun - Shakes

I like your picks, Shakes. Not sure about the Oregon/Okie St.
yet, but OK st always seems to fall short and Oregon has been pretty good lately.

This is the one that I strongly disagreed upon with the group, the thinking was that Ok St played in the better conference and hence faced stiffer competition...I disagreed...my agruement was lost in the shuffle and the group voted the way that they did...I'd do it different but for the record, the pick is on the Cowboys...
