Wednesday NBA Opinions
Atlanta (+1 ½) over CHARLOTTE

Rotation #503 – 5:05 pm Pacific
Atlanta has been resting their starters in the 4th quarter of the last two games and they’re expected to do the same tonight. That, however, has been factored into the number on this game and my ratings make this game a pick if the starters play the same minutes they’ve played the last 2 games and I get Charlotte by 1 point if the Hawks’ stars play 20 minutes. Atlanta applies to a few very good situations, including a 49-17 ATS final week revenge situation and a 66-18-2 ATS bounce-back situation. I would play the Hawks here if I knew the starters would play the first 3 quarters as they’ve done the last two games, but there is good chance they’ll sit more than that – although I think they’d certainly like to break their 5 game losing streak heading into the playoffs. I’ll lean with Atlanta at pick or better.

CLEVELAND (-5 ½) over Washington
Rotation #514 – 5:05 pm Pacific
Washington took advantage of the Celtics sitting their 4 star players with a 1 point overtime home win over Boston for their second straight win. The Wizards, however, are still just 5-23 ATS after a win and they’re 1-15 ATS in road games this season when not getting more than 8 points (0-10 ATS after a win). Cleveland has improved recently with Baron Davis in the rotation and the Cavs have covered in 4 of their last 5 games. My ratings favor Cleveland by 4 ½ points, so the line is a little higher than I had hoped, but I’ll lean with Cleveland tonight in their home finale.

HE also has 1 best bet tonight, anyone have it....THANKS

Gold Sheet

Washington 94 - CLEVELAND 91—
How many fans will be in attendance
to see these two bottom-feeders duke it out? The answer is maybe more than
usual, as it’s fan appreciation night, and the Cleveland PR department will dole
out $1 million in prizes. Every fan goes home with something. So, the “Q” will
be rockin’ and Cleveland has shown a bit of life down the stretch, as Byron
Scott’s club has at least played well against bad teams, covering 5 of last 6
against non-playoff foes. Not sure that will be enough for the Cavs to hold off
a more talented Washington side that obviously hasn’t quit on Flip Saunders,
winning 5 of last 8 SU prior to hosting Boston Monday night. With F Andray
Blatche (26 ppg, 12 rpg in April), John Wall (20 ppg, 5 rpg and 7 apg) and Jordan
Crawford (22 ppg last 8 games) all producing, the Wizards don’t look like the
team that had lost 26 straight road games in their first visit to Cleveland on Feb.
13. Washington has scored 115 pts. and covered in each of last two meetings
with the Cavs, and Wizards own much more potent weapons. Certainly couldn’t
lay any points with Cav team that’s 1-7 as a favorite this season. "Totals" note:
Cleveland 9-1 “under” last 10 at Quicken Loans Arena, while Washington 5-1
“under” last 6 on the road. 10-Cle +4' 107-102 (194), Was +1' 115-100 (207),
WAS -2 115-107 (202); 09-CLE -11' 102-90 (197), WAS +4 108-91 (195), CLE
-13' 121-98 (196)

OKLAHOMA CITY 99 - Milwaukee 93—
This game might have a great
deal of significance for Oklahoma City, as the Thunder are just a game behind
the Lakers and Dallas prior to the OKC visit to Sacramento Monday night. The
game might also have no significance, as the Thunder lose the tiebreakers with
both L.A. and the Mavs, so would have to finish a game in front of either to move
up the ladder. Milwaukee is without C Andrew Bogut, and the Bucks haven’t
fared well when he’s not available, dropping 7 of 9 spread decisions when the
big Aussie is absent. The Thunder won at Milwaukee back on Nov. 20 without
the services of the league’s leading scorer, OKC F Kevin Durant. The new-look
Thunder has shown flashes of recent brilliance (beating the Lakers and Denver
twice in the last week), but HC Scott Brooks’ team has also been inconsistent
(lost to the Clippers). So will it be a motivated Thunder romp or a Milwaukee
“hang in there” against the OKC subs? More likely scenario is that the Bucks
(11-6 vs. the number getting more than 6 pts. on the road) play tougher than
expected against OKC side that’s failed to cover in last 3 laying double digits.
10-Okc +5' 82-81 (188); 09-OKC -5 108-90 (197), MIL -1' 103-97 (OT-197)

Houston 119 - MINNESOTA 110—
Houston has some questions due to
sketchy status of F Luis Scola (knee) & PG Kyle Lowry (foot), as both of whom
might shut it down. Minny is equally concerned about the groin injury to F Kevin
Love, sitting him down for a 5
th straight game against Phoenix on Monday. Still,
the Rockets are seeking a little revenge, as Houston had won 13 in a row against
the Timbewolves before finally losing the Feb. 8 game 112-108 at the Toyota
Center. Also, the absence of Love would be a major blow facing the Rockets,
as he scored 20 ppg & took 16 rpg in first 3 against Houston. Meanwhile, the
Rockets have ridden Kevin Martin’s coat tails against Minny, with Martin scoring
26 ppg and shooting a robust 52% against the Timberwolves. Houston is 6-3 as
a road favorite, while Minny is just 9-17 as a home dog. In this case, “a trend is
your friend.” 10-HOU -9 120-94 (215), Hou -2' 129-125 (221), Min +9 112-108
(217); 09-Hou -6 97-84 (197), HOU -9' 120-114 (3OT-203), Hou -4' 112-98 (208)

DALLAS 109 - New Orleans 94—
The home team has held an edge in this
series, with the host winning 10 in a row SU. However, the money has mostly
gone to New Orleans, as Chris Paul’s crew has posted an 8-2-1 pointspread
mark last 11 against the Mavs. Can’t be overly impressed with recent Dallas
wins hosting the Clips & Phoenix, as the Hornets present a much more difficult
challenge. New Orleans still jockeying for playoff position in the final games, as
one game separated Portland, Memphis and the Hornets heading into N.O.’s
Monday night match with Utah. Certainly it would be in their best interest if the
Hornets could pull out of the 8
th seed and avoid top-seeded Spurs, who’ve
answered their wakeup call, winning 4 straight and once again appear to be the
scourge of the West. Part of the Mavs’ failures against New Orleans has been
the matchup at point guard, as Paul and sidekick backup Jarrett Jack have both
tallied 21 ppg against counterparts Jason Kidd & Jose Barea. 10-DAL -4 98-95
(190), NO -5 99-97 (192), NO +5 93-92 (188); 09-NO -4 114-107 (OT-189), DAL

-9 94-90 (198), DAL -8 108-100 (200), NO +4' 115-99 (202)

Where did you see that? I thought his final court appearance is tomorrow.
Also, if what you say is true, how is it that he has gone on continually operating his service without interruption since last year when he was arrested?
I am not saying what you are saying is not true but would like to know where you go this information.

Atlanta Braves -130

Both pitchers are off to a great start this year. For some reason, Josh Johnson does not get run support against the Braves and I really like how Atlanta blanked them last night 5-0. Tim Hudson is off to a really nice start as well, so lets ride him again at home. It seems like Atlanta knows how to shut down the Marlins' bats. Take the Braves.
