Today's MLB Picks

Toronto at Seattle

The Blue Jays look to take advantage of a Seattle team that is 1-9 in Jason Vargas' last 10 starts. Toronto is the pick (-120) according to Dunkel, which has the Blue Jays favored by 1. Dunkel Pick: Toronto (-120). Here are all of today's picks.

The Wizards look to build on their 6-1 ATS record in their last 7 games against a team with a losing SU record. Washington is the pick (+5) according to Dunkel, which has the Cavaliers favored by only 2. Dunkel Pick: Washington (+5). Here are all of today's picks.

Jim Feist's Wednesday Bonus Play:

Take: (951) CINCINNATI REDS

Reason: The Reds out to a fast start in the NL Central, taking over first place. This offense has balance, with speed and power, second in baseball in runs scored and batting average, plus tops in on-base percentage. Starter Travis Wood has good stuff, fanning 11 in 12 innings with only 2 walks. He faces a bad San Diego offense that traded its top star, Adrian Gonzalez, over the winter. They are 26th in runs scored and 25th in on-base percentage. Cincy has a huge edge offensively this game and they San Diego starter Tim Stauffer has struggled, with a 5.06 ERA allowing 20 base runners in 10 innings! Play the Reds.

SPORTS WAGERS

Tampa Bay +130 over PITTSBURGH (game 1)

The Penguins play in your face hockey and grind out goals while the Lightning are more of a free wheeling squad that is laden with plenty of highly skilled forwards. Pittsburgh’s style has found them to visit the penalty box far too frequently and if that flaw continues in these playoffs they’ll get burned. The Pens will also face adversity if they are forced to come from behind because of their limited scoring ability with two of their star forwards being absent from lineup. In addition, Pittsburgh’s James Neal has a wrist injury and did not play on Sunday and is listed as questionable for the opener. One really has to wonder where the Penguins offense is going to come from. The Lightning couldn’t have handpicked a better first round matchup because their weakness is their defence and they catch a club that has trouble scoring. The Penguins play hard and as determined as anyone but they’re going to need Marc Andre Fleury to stand on his head to win this series. Lastly, in a meaningless game against Carolina to end the season and with Carolina needing a win to get into the playoffs, the Bolts came out and whipped the Canes 6-2. Was there a message being sent? We like the Bolts in the series but will play them in game one instead. Should they lose game one, we’ll come back with a series bet before game two with a much higher take-back. Play: Tampa Bay +130 in game 1 (Risking 2 units).

Chicago +180 over VANCOUVER (series)

Chicago can pull the upset as long as Corey Crawford holds his own. The Canucks like a fast-paced skating game, which plays very well into the Blackhawks’ hand. The matchup is a good one for the underdog and history is certainly on the Hawks side, as they’ve eliminated Vancouver in each of the past two post-seasons. This Canucks team, however, is better than the last two. They went from 26th in penalty minutes per game in 2009-10 to 13th in that category this year. Gone is motor mouth Shane O'Brien and Roberto Luongo is no longer the captain. They speak and play with one voice: Fast and disciplined. On the ice, the Sedin twins combined for 198 points, and their second-line center, Ryan Kesler, had a career year by netting 41 goals. Their defense is also better than a year ago. Still, Chicago can get into Vancouver’s head. The Blackhawks shut down the twins in last year’s playoffs and if Daniel and Henrik don’t do any damage in game one, it could really play some mind games upon the fave. Despite winning the Cup last year, the Blackhawks are deservedly the heavy underdog this year and that, too, adds to their appeal. Chicago is on the free-roll after getting lucky to even be in this position, making them quite dangerous. Of course, the Canucks can win this series but these two split four games this season and Chicago owns the psychological edge, which could definitely be the difference in this series. Play: Chicago +180 to win series (Risking 2 units).

Phoenix +170 over DETROIT (series)

For the second straight postseason, Detroit and Phoenix meet in the first round. The Red Wings eliminated the Coyotes in seven games last year while this season the two teams split four games. In other words, it’s real close and now the question that needs to be answered is whether the Coyotes can break through? We’re thinking they will. For one, Keith Yandle is quietly becoming the NHL’s most potent offensive defenseman and he now has a playoff year under his belt, not to mention an entire second season. Secondly, Detroit’s top scorer, Henrik Zetterberg, is unlikely to go in the first game and could miss the entire series. Last but not least is the Red Wings defence. Unlike years past, the Red Wings do not have the players in the third pairing to alleviate the pressure on their top four defensemen. They are prone to turnovers and can be overwhelmed against speed and pressure. Attacking them and making them play under duress accomplishes two things: (1) You will get scoring chances, and (2) you will force them into shortening their bench and playing their top guys more. The Red Wings are an older team that is simply not feared anymore while the Coyotes are younger and ready to take it up a notch. The ‘Yotes offense is also a lot more potent than they’re getting credit for, as they ranked 13th in the league in goals scored. The Red Wings don't beat themselves. To beat them, you have to be smart and you have to be relentless and the Coyotes are both. Phoenix is a frustrating team to play against and they were on the verge of beating Detroit last year. A year later, a year better, a year wiser and with a sweet tag, the Coyotes are most certainly worthy of this endorsement. Play: Phoenix +170 to win series (Risking 2 units).

N.Y. Rangers +190 over WASHINGTON

If you’re thinking of laying the big lumber we urge you to step back because these Capitals have a horrible playoff résumé and this year their scoring is way down. All the so-called experts have strongly suggested all year that this years Caps are different in that they’ve made a commitment to defense. No longer are they winning 6-4 games, instead they’re quite happy to grind out 3-2 wins, playoff hockey if you will. That’s all nice but we don’t see it that way at all. The Capitals are a fragile playoff team that could go south fast if the Rangers score first or win game one. Washington’s defensemen are really not that strong at all and come playoff time, that flaw will be exposed. Yeah, they have guys like Ovechkin, Semin, Backstrom and Green but so what. Has that group ever won anything? O.V. and Semin fold whenever the chips are down whether it’s in the Stanley Cup playoffs or International play. Besides, the Rangers can be so tough. Losing Ryan Callahan hurts a lot. However, this is a team made up of character guys that will outwork and out-grind you to death. They also have Chris Drury back. The last three games these two have played have resulted in the Blue Shirts winning all three and outscoring the Caps 13-1 in the process. That means something, especially after the Caps were seeking revenge after a 7-0 loss to the Rangers but instead lost again, 6-0. The Rangers certainly won’t be intimidated by this foe or setting and again, we strongly caution you against laying a big price with a very fragile playoff team. Play: N.Y. Rangers +190 to win series (Risking 2 units).

2* NY Rangers +160 over Caps
The Rangers won three of the four meetings, including wins of 7-0 and 6-0. Both teams say the regular-season dominance of the Rangers means nothing now... which isn't surprising because the media will twist any situation in order for the Capitals to look better. The fact is that the Capitals are easily thrown off from their game even with their new defensive strategy. The Rangers have a lot of grinders and they are backed up by one of the best, if not the best, goal tenders in the league. Lundqvist will shut down scoring attempts while Ranger capitalize on Washington's mistakes.

GC MLB Totals Play

Wednesday 2 Big NBA Last Game Power Systems one is a 5* NBA 2-0 on Tuesday. MLB Diamond Cutter system Game of the Week + NHL Game 1 Power Angle Side. Free MLB Totals system below

On Wednesday the MLB Totals play is on the Under in the Florida at Atlanta Game. Rotation numbers 957/958. The Total is just 7 here. However when we take a look at the pitching match up, we see why. Florida has their ace on the mound in J. Johnson. While Atlanta counters with T. Hudson. Both pitchers have started the season in excellent form. Hudson has allowed 3 runs in 14+ innings thus far this season and allowed 5 runs in 21+ innings last season in 3 home starts vs Florida. Johnson allowed 3 runs in 18 innings last season vs the Braves and has allowed 3 combined runs in his 2 starts this season. This game sets up like a classic pitching duel between two aces. If the bull pens hold their form and these two do what's expected this one stays under. On Wednesday I have 2 BIG NBA Last game Power systems both in the upper 90% range, I also have the MLB Game of the Week from a Big system and a rare NHL Game 1 power Angle Play. On Tuesday the NBA Swept going 2-0. Jump on now and Cash this big Quad Pack. For the Bonus Play take the Under in the Florida at Atlanta game. GC
