Stuttgart vs. Barcelona Camp Nou, Barcelona. Spain 2:45 PM EST Wednesday March 17, 2010
by Jason Green at Predictem.com

On Wednesday night in the 2nd leg of a Champions League tie defending champion Barcelona hosts Stuttgart. Barcelona is the heavy favorite in this match, but they did not look very good when they played to a 1-1 draw in Germany in the 1st leg of the tie. The struggled in the match and they were lucky to come away with a draw.

Stuttgart started their season horribly only winning 2 of their first 15 matches, but they have got back on their feet and have played well moving up to the 9th position in the Bundesliga. They are playing with a ton of confidence in the Champions League and they played well in the 1st leg against Barcelona. They had quite a few chances to win that match, but winning at Camp Nou will be far from easy.

Stuttgart cannot sit back on defense, as they have to score since Barcelona scored an away goal in Germany. I do not see them scoring on the solid Barcelona defense that is led by Carles Puyol and Gerard Pique.

Stuttgart's defense has struggled lately, as they only have 2 clean sheets in their last 10 matches.

Stuttgart will not be intimidated in this match, but they will be overmatched by the talent of Barcelona. The Spanish giants simply have way too much talent, especially on offense and I do not think they will have any problem winning this match. I see Barcelona winning by a score of 2-0 or 3-0 and advancing to the Champions League quarterfinals.

Blistering red-hot Matt Rivers of OffshoreInsiders has a free pick on the NY Knicks plus the points. The NBA spread has them getting 9.5 at Boston.

Three huge college hoop winners today for pay but as for the comp play I'm going to the NBA and grabbing some points with the New York Knickerbockers.

I'm not sold on Boston right now. They did shove it up my butt by blowing out the Pistons the other day by a billion but things are still not fully right in Beantown. Doc Rivers' squad just looks old to me and Kevin Garnett is not nearly the same guy. Shoot, Ray Allen isn't either for that matter and these Knicks have now won two in a row on the road and have got to be feeling pretty good about themselves.

Mike D'Antoni's squad shocked the world with the beyond easy win in Dallas snapping the Mavericks 13 game winning streak and then won in Philadelphia on Monday. Obviously the Knicks are going nowhere and the franchise is targeting the off-season more than the season but Lee, McGrady, Harrington, Gallinari and Chandler form a team with a ton of potential. They are the poster child for a group that can stink when you think they will be good but to get around 10 here in this rivalry spot is a-ok with me.

The C's I guess should pull out the game but they are just not that good right now and are playing for a fourth time in the past six days meaning the legs could be a little wobbly.

Fully trusting these Knicks is impossible but I do believe they come to play and stay within this too large impost in the end.

The pick: NY Knicks

Wow, what a day. A bad day to have a "Free day" as I have my first bad day in a month. How do you give up a 19 point lead? Books are pissed because the public took them pretty big today. I'm not one to just leave people hanging so I'm going to throw you my card tomorrow as well. Not only that but I want you to bet them pretty hard. If we have a losing day then our tournament package is on us.

$2200/$2000 Charlotte Bobcats +2

$3300/$3000 Appalachian State -2

$2200/$2000 Northern Colorado +1
