The Clippers are struggling with the Blake Griffin injury and we are playing against road teams with rest that failed to covert the spread as home favorites of 4 or less and scored 90 or less, vs an opponent like Houston that won and covered as a home favorite of 5 or more and scored 110 or more points. These road teams are 0-14 straight up and 3-11 to the spread the last several years. The Clippers have failed to cover 5 of the last 7 on the road when the total is 210 or higher and Houston has covered 6 of the last 8 vs winning teams. Take Houston. On Wednesday its another powerful card led by the BIG 10 Game of the Month from 3 perfect indicators and the NBA Total of the Month from a Perfect totals system. Complimentary CBB Pick for February 25th, 2015

Game: Central Florida Knights (759) @ Cincinnati Bearcats (760)
Time: Wednesday 02/25 7:30 PM Eastern
Pick: Central Florida +16 (-105) at 5Dimes

Central Florida is certainly not on the level of Cincinnati, but the Bearcats are an offensively starved team that hasn't exactly been playing very well in losing three of their last four. This is an offense that has not a single player averaging double-digits on the season, and as a team they have averaged just 57 points per game in their last seven. That puts them in trouble to big favorite lines, something that has been a tough spot for them this season as they are just 1-5 ATS in their six games as a 10+ point favorite on the season. Their first meeting saw just 102 total points scored in the game, and with a line of 16, that is 30% of the Bearcats' last seven game average, which is far and away too high. Play the points on Central Florida.

Washington @ MINNESOTA
MINNESOTA -1½ -103 over Washington

The Wizards are 33-24 and sitting comfortably in a playoff spot in the East. At one point earlier in the year, the Wizards looked so good that it appeared like they could pose a serious threat in the East. However, that was quite some time ago and now we must pay attention to what the results are telling us in respect to the Wizards. Losing is one thing but the way the Wizards are losing is quite another. Washington has dropped four in a row and eight of its last 10. They just lost to Cleveland and Detroit by 28 and 17 points respectively. Last night at home, they lost to Golden State by seven, which isn’t so bad on paper but on the court it was awful. The Warriors played a poor game last night but the Wizards were worse with 26 turnovers to the Warriors nine. A sharp team would have beaten Golden State but the Wiz were anything but and it’s not just one game. The Wizards have been sloppy and unfocused for a while now. They lack intensity and just about every other intangible. Washington has not stepped it up in Bradley Beal’s absence; instead they have taken five steps backwards in his absence. The Wiz will now play the tail end of back-to-backs and their third game in four days against perhaps the most under the radar team in the NBA right now.

Minnesota has been playing so much better lately but it has gone rather unnoticed because the betting public doesn’t pay a lot of attention to teams at the bottom of the barrel. However, during their last four games, the T-Wolves took Western Conference heavyweight Golden State to the wire while losing to two other heavyweights, Atlanta and Houston. Minnesota’s other game over that span was a 2-point win over Phoenix. Prior to that, Minnesota defeated Detroit, Memphis and Miami all in succession. Minnesota is playing at full health with Kevin Martin and Ricky Rubio back and those are two serious upgrades, especially Rubio running the show. Add the outstanding play of Andrew Wiggins and now you have talent, energy, and experience among that trio. T-Wolves fans do not have a lot to celebrate these days but for this one night only, they’ll come out in droves to welcome home the most beloved player in their history when Kevin Garnett returns in a Timberwolves uniform for the first time in eight years. This guy is to Minnesota what Lebron James was to Cleveland in James' first few years. The Target Center is going to be the loudest building in the NBA tonight. It’s going to be a hugely emotional one for the fans and the Timberwolves players figure to respond with a strong showing. The T-Wolves are rested, they’re in much better form, they have a sense of rejuvenation and they could be in line to play their best game of the year. Washington is so ripe to get beat and this is the perfect setup for that to occur.

Our Pick
MINNESOTA -1½ -103 (Risking 2.06 units - To Win: 2.00)

Evansville @ NORTHERN IOWA
#773 Evansville +12½ -106 over NORTHERN IOWA

9:00 PM EST. The Panthers are ranked #10 in the country. They have won 15 in a row and they’ve also won 17 straight home games. The Panthers are going to the Dance as either the MVC champ or as an at-large team The Panthers play outstanding defense and while they are not a high scoring team, they’re selective in their shots and make a high percentage of them. With their ranking and they’re current winning streak, the Panthers stock is soaring. You will pay a premium to back NIU and that’s something we’re always looking to play against. We also look for situational plays and we trust we found one here in fading the Panthers. NIU is tied with Wichita State atop the MVC with a 15-1 record. The Panthers close out the regular season on Saturday against Wichita State that is very likely going to decide the conference. All focus figures to be on that showdown and even if the Purple Aces are down 15-20 points in the second half, they should get a chance for a back-door cover. We doubt it’ll come to that but it’s something we can stick in our back pocket.

The Purple Aces are a formidable foe. They’re an outstanding shooting team that ranks 14th in the country in FG percentage while playing a strength of schedule that is almost on par with NIU. Evansville has won three of its last four games with only loss occurring against the aforementioned Shockers. The Purple Aces are one of two MVC teams to bring back all five starters from last year’s dangerous squad. They get outstanding guard play and as a result of that, they have a real penchant for finding the open man and getting good looks. Evansville has some of the best talent in the Missouri Valley. They are 19-9 overall but have underachieved in the conference with a 9-7 record. That doesn’t mean they aren’t dangerous and they match up well against this host. The Panthers are in one of those very vulnerable spots that big favorites often do not cover in and that makes us sellers.

Our Pick
#773 Evansville +12½ -106 (Risking 2.12 units - To Win: 2.00)

Wichita State @ INDIANA ST
#740 INDIANA ST. +9½ -106 over Wichita State

7:00 PM EST. If we’re going to fade the Panthers in a look-ahead game against Wichita State, we can sure apply the same theory to the Shockers on the road. Wichita State closes out their season at home against the Panthers this Saturday and so this game is nothing more than a huge inconvenience for them. All focus for the Shockers figures to be on Saturday’s contest. The Shockers not only play for all the marbles on Saturday but they have a score to settle with the Panthers, as they lost to them in Northern Iowa by an embarrassing 16 points. We can assure you the talk in that Shockers locker room is not focused on the Sycamores.

The Sycamores did lose some firepower from a squad that won 23 games last season but the team did not get depleted by any stretch. ISU still has last year’s Sixth Man of the Year in Khristian Smith along with senior forwards Justin Gant and Jake Kitchell. The Sycamores are third in the MVC with a very respectable 10-6 record. They played a rather difficult out-of-conference schedule that included games against Illinois, Memphis and Butler. In fact, ISU’s strength of schedule ranks 127th in the country out of 351 teams but forget about all of that for a second. This one, just like the one above, is all about fading a situation. That situation hinges on fading a road team laying big weight in a horrible spot that has something much bigger on their minds than this game.

Our Pick
#740 INDIANA ST. +9½ -106 (Risking 2.12 units - To Win: 2.00)

Welcome to Ecks & Bacon for Wednesday, February 25, 2015 (aka Chalk/Benjamin Lee Eckstein)

NBA:
Utah Jazz -8

NCAA (three team 5-point teaser):
Wake Forest +14
Mississippi St. +24
Iowa St. -1

UEFA Champions League:
Arsenal -190
Arsenal/Monacco Draw +320

Atletico +150
Atletico/Leverkusen Draw +220

Gonna dribble on to the NBA hardwood tonight and try Utah -8 points over the Lakers. Never easy to play up in the altitude of Salt Lake City, which is 4,327 feet, give or take a few inches, especially for a team that comes from ZERO altitude on the ocean in Los Angeles. The Jazz are historically tough in Salt Lake, and this season is no exception. They have covered seven of their last nine at the EnergySolutions Arena (liked the old Salt Palace WAY better), while the LAL are in the proverbial TANK. Of course they will not admit to "tanking," but after winning only TWO of the last EIGHTEEN, what would you call it? The Lakers have been horrible against the spread as well, covering just one of the last six. Gimme half a Benjamin on the Jazz.

Also gonna throw down a college hoop teaser, 5-point three teamer. Start with Wake Forest, and take the Demon Deacons from +9 to +14 points against Virginia. Then grab Mississippi State, and bump the Bulldogs up from +19 to +24 points against Kentucky. Close it out with Iowa State, and drop the Cyclones from -6 to -1 point over Baylor. Puttin' up $50 to win back $75.

And in the UEFA Champions League, we'll take Arsenal over Monaco for the win, $95 to win $50, and try $50 to win back $160 on the draw. Also like Atletico Madrid over Bayer Leverkusen, $50 to win $75, and wager $50 to win back $110 on the draw.
