Sports betting fans have multiple sports to choose from tonight. On the hardwood, LeBron James and the Cavaliers host Boston in Game 5 of their NBA Playoffs series. On the diamond, the New York Yankees pay a visit to the Detroit Tigers. Here are today’s picks from ScoresOddsPicks of OffshoreInsiders.com:

NBA odds: Boston Celtics at Cleveland Cavaliers (-7.5) – 8:00 p.m. ET

Boston came away with a 97-87 victory in Game 4, knotting the series at two games apiece. The Celtics covered as 1.5-point underdogs, giving them their sixth win against the spread in their past 10 games on NBA odds. The series shifts back to Cleveland now, and Boston is just 5-5 against the spread in its last 10 road games.

The Cavaliers have let down sports betting fans over the past few weeks. Despite racking up some wins, LeBron James and Co. have covered just four of their past 10 outings. In fact, Cleveland is just 7-13 in its last 20 games against the spread. The Cavaliers have actually been worse on their home turf, going 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games.
This series has been a dogfight, and there’s no reason to believe that will change now. Boston will keep it close enough to cover.

Pick: Boston

MLB odds: New York Yankees (-140) at Detroit Tigers (+120) – 7:05 p.m. ET

Projected starters: Javier Vazquez vs. Rick Porcello

The Yankees have dropped back-to-back games on MLB odds, which ended a six-game winning streak. Still, they’re a rock-solid 7-3 in their past 10 outings. Javier Vazquez (1-3, 9.78 ERA) will take the mound for New York. They’ve won just one of his five starts this season, and he allowed five runs in three innings during last week’s 7-6 loss to the Chicago White Sox.

Detroit is 2-4 in its last six games, though both victories came in the past three days. Rick Porcello (2-3, 7.50 ERA) will get the nod for the Tigers. He’s allowed at least five runs in four consecutive games, although in his last start—a 5-4 loss to the Twins—only three of them were earned. Detroit is 2-4 in games started by Porcello.

The Yankees are definitely playing better at the sportsbook right now. Vazquez has been a bit of a nightmare, but he has a solid track record against the Tigers, boasting a 4.50 ERA in 13 starts. He’ll do enough to let the Bronx Bombers go to work on Porcello.

Pick: New York.

REASON FOR PICK: I stated before this series started that these were the types of teams that could win 5-1 one night, and then lose 5-1 in the following game; Chicago leads the series 3-2 and has dominated the Canucks at GM Place, outscoring them 12-6 in two games there.

Game 1: 5-1 win for Vancouver
Game 2: 4-2 win for Chicago
Game 3: 5-2 win for Chicago
Game 4: 7-4 win for Chicago
Game 5: 4-1 win for Vancouver

I had a *10* play on the "under" in Game 5, and my *10* post season NHL picks remain on a 9-4 (69%) run since the beginning of the Playoffs.

For the most part, I've had a hard time getting a good read on either side during this series…but not tonight! I believe this one is going to be a no-brainer. (make sure to check out my big *10* 'Hawks/Nucks GAME 6 WINNER)

Vancouver was extremely effective at shutting down the 'Hawks in Game 5, and Dustin Byfuglien, the bruising 6' 5" 265 lb. menace, was a non-factor.

The Canucks made a major adjustment in Chicago, and I expect them to do the same in their own barn; they played a much more disciplined game and avoided stupid penalties; Vancouver was short-handed 14 times in its previous two home games and gave up six-power play goals.

This was a problem for it in its first round matchup vs. LA as well, until it made similar changes in its game plan.

That's not to say it didn't play aggressive, especially short handed.

“It’s a team game,” said Roberto Luongo, who made 29 saves last time out. “We all have to step it up as a team. If we want to move on we’ve got to play the best hockey we’ve played all year. It’s not on one guy to make a difference. It’s on everybody to make sure they give a little extra.”

Chicago has played some of its best hockey on the road and will be looking to get more traffic and shots on Luongo; “We put ourselves in this situation,” forward Patrick Kane said. “We want to win, obviously, in Game 6 and not give ourselves a chance to go to Game 7.”

I'm expecting the tightest contest of this series.

It has to be pointed out that Chicago has in fact seen the total go "under" the number in 10 of 15 games this year after a loss by 2 goals or more in its previous contest; which means of course, that after a sub par effort, this team comes out and plays with an extremely concerted effort on the defensive end.

This number is too high; Luongo and Antti Niemi take centre stage tonight; I suggest a second look at the UNDER in this situation.

911 Tuesday, 5/11/2010 Philadelphia Phillies (RL -1.5 -115) 3 unit
8:40pm EST @ Colorado Rockies

We are not backing the Phils with Halladay blind, we see a lot here. Firstly, let’s get the pitching out of the way. Halladay (6-1, 1.45 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, .224 BAA) who doesn’t need more accolades, shutout the Rockies allowing 2 hits in his only career appearance against the Rockies. On the other hand, Cook (1-3, 6.03 ERA, 1.57 WHIP, .267 BAA) has performed horribly versus the Phils (1-5, 5.85 ERA, 1.59 WHIP, 3.23 BAA). The Rockies will be without two of their best position players, Carlos Gonzalez (last day of bereavement leave) and Troy Tulowitski (thigh muscle strain) who will sit due to the expected cold weather tonight. The Phils, winners of 8 of their last 10 overall, are 13-3 against the Rockies last 16. Our only concern is that they get the full nine innings in tonight as snow is forecast late.

Game: New York Yankees at Detroit (7:05 PM Eastern)
Pick: Game Total UNDER 10 -105
The Yankees suddenly have injury issues, losing five players over the course of six games. Some have been relegated to the DL, others to nagging day-to-day injuries, but the offense has shown signs of feeling the effects. The Yankees' staff has been as good as advertised holding 17 teams to 3 runs or less already. The Tigers starters aren't pretty, but the pen has been lethal with all six arms are out there with an ERA of less than 2.50. The Tigers are a huge UNDER choice vs. the best teams, as they feature a 65-30-2 mark to the UNDER vs. teams with a winning percentage topping the .600 mark. The Tigers and Yanks have gone UNDER in four straight meetings, and I look again to the UNDER in this one
