BOB AKMENS

San Francisco Giants (-135)
Thu Jul 3 '08 7:05p

The Cubbies go with a guy, Sean Gallagher, who has made 5 career starts on the road - and his team has yet to walk off the field smiling in any of those starts.

Contrast that with the Giants starter, Tim Lincecum, a fine young arm, whose team has won 5 of his last 7 starts at home. Which is some major accomplishment given that the Giants have that horrific 15-26 home record.

Lincecum's just been a profitable pitcher -period. If you had bet him in all of his starts this season, you're up +6 net winners already - and that factors in the vig.

But that's what you should expect from a guy with a 2.38 ERA - which is the 2nd-best in all of MLB.

Another point is how effective Lincecum's been vs. the Cubs: he's had 15 K's in just 14 1/3 IP.

Now you might understand why Lincecum leads the NL with 114 K's - and why teams like the Yankees with their bottomless pockets should get a guy like this instead of parading a procession of washed-up has-beens or never-did-a-thing-wannabe's - and then scratching their heads when they lose.

GO WITH THE GIANTS -135 IN THIS 7:05PM EDT GAME

Hi, CPAW -

While I know this is off-topic, you've been a good guy and I thought I'd make you guys aware that I'm giving away all 3 of my sports service soccer picks for Friday, July 4th (HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!) free on your soccer forum:

http://forum.therx.com/showthread.php?p=5519513#post5519513

Trust me when I say this is an event for me in that these are most assuredly NOT comps - and you know my take on those. I decided that I'd like to share some soccer winners with you guys so I'm giving away service plays for the first time in...oh maybe 4-5 years.

Hope they win for all of us!

Regards,

Bob Akmens

As always a class act! Thanks Bob, I will check that thread and your picks as I'm a huge soccer fan! Hope you have all winners as you have been hot as a firecracker!

GL and have a great 4th! God Bless this great country America!

All the best!

AREN'T YOU FORGETTING SOMETHING?

CPAW, ONCE AGAIN SORRY FOR ANY CLUTTER.BUT THIS SHIT HAS TO COME TO A STOP. I DON'T KNOW HOW YOU PUT UP WITH IT EVERYDAY.

MUCH RESPECT TO YOU & THE HONEST MEMBERS THAT REALLY HELP OUT IN HERE.

Jack Lord,

No need to apologize, I know a lot of members feel the way you do! Things will change around here and the mods will have to address some of these issues. If I had my way some of these members would be gone by now. Things are being worked on I know that, I just can't say at this time. Hang in there and lets see what we can do to make it better in here. Your posts are never clutter.

If Bob is around still... just wondering why are you saying comp plays should be taken with a grain of salt, yet you speak so convincingly of the Giants tonight as a comp play? Just curious, because it seems contradictory.

Comp Play
Oakland A's

Our Bonus Play today is on the Oakland A's. The A's send Justin Duchscherer who is 8-5 on the year with a 1.91 ERA. He is even better in his last 3 starts posting a 1.14 ERA. He averages only 6.1 hits and walks combined per nine innings. He is 3-1 in his career vs the White Sox. The White Sox counter with Javier Vazquez who is 7-6 on the year with a 4.49 ERA. He has really struggled his last 3 starts though with an ERA of 7.71 and he is allowing an average of 16 hits/walks per nine innings. Compare those numbers to Duchscherer and we should have an easy win on our hands tonight! Let's ride the A's tonight

are you sure for 100% that TJ is on STL? :think2:

paid and confirmed*

Description: Teddy June's MLB Game of the Day
Pick: 5* St. Louis Cardinals
Analysis: My 5* MLB Game of the Day is the St. Louis Cardinals over the New York Mets. I have always been a big proponent of betting on teams off emotional wins and in the same sense betting against teams off emotional losses in baseball. It plays such a key role in baseball with streaks being so important in the everyday grind of a baseball season. I talked about this with the Mariners yesterday when we cashed with them as they were off a late inning comeback win a game they were down 6-3 heading into the 7th and they managed to rally and win on their home field. Tonight, the Cardinals are off a walk off home run by Troy Glaus to grab an 8-7 win over the Mets last night and I like the momentum they will take into ball game tonight. Mitchell Boggs will take the hill for the Cardinals and Mike Pelfrey for the Mets. Boggs has been serviceable for the Cardinals this year and that is all we really need tonight from him. He is 3-0 with a 4.37 ERA and the team is 4-0 in his 4 starts this season. He has actually faced some pretty solid offenses with KC, Boston, Philadelphia and Cincinnati and pitched fairly well in his games. I really liked what I saw out of him in the KC game he has begun to look more confident and is best pitch a hard sinker has looked strong in his last few outings. On the other side Mike Pelfrey gets the start for the Mets and he will be attempting to turn around his road troubles something I expect him to have a very difficult time doing against a potent lineup. Pelfrey in 7 road starts has a 6.38 ERA, 2.10 WHIP and hitters are pounding the ball against him hitting an astounding .353 against him on the road. The Cardinals with Pujols who has been red hot since coming back have a very potent lineup and have been smashing righties at home hitting .281 and scoring almost 5 runs per game; in their last 10 ball games they are hitting .306 overall and scoring 5.3 runs per game. Cardinals are a solid 25-18 at home while the Mets are 19-25 on the road this year and with both Beltran and Castillo not expected to play for the Mets tonight I expect them to really struggle. Expect Cardinals to grab the win and take this series 3-1. I currently have this line at -110. My 5* MLB Game of the Day is the St. Louis Cardinals. As always, Good Luck, Let’s make some money.
Total: 15.00

Why do people continue to buy youwinnow picks? We all know they pick virtually every favorite. We know they work together, they probably just put 6 teams in a hat everyday and each "capper" draws one. Just go to wagerline and bet on every team that has over 60% consensus and is at least -130 and you'll get 90% of their picks everyday. It's a business that is making money by doing nothing! I should start a website like that, cause it is by far the easiest money in the world.

sometimes i wonder the same thing but you can't deny a capper like william kidd up 26 units on pace for 60 this season in mlb. People just run into trouble when they start betting the whole lot of them and then jump around because of a loss or two. I know they like favorites but if your only betting one a day and win 4 or 5 in a row followed by a loss and then another 2 or 3 wins in a row.. i think its not a bad method at all.

Your margin for error is so small, it is by far the riskiest way to bet. If they get cold and drop 5 in a row or something, you can lose 3 weeks profits.

6:10:00 PM ATLANTA BRAVES (Jurrjens)+110
over Philadelphia Phillies (Hamels)
3* Atlanta (Jurrjens) +110 over Philadelphia (Hamels) Look for another strong outing from Jurrjens and a Braves win Thursday night to snap a losing streak.

7/3/2008
7:10:00 PM Oakland Athletics (Duchscherer)+115
over CHICAGO WHITE SOX (Vazquez)
3* Oakland (Duchscherer) +115 over Chicago (Vazquez) 7:10 PM Oakland is one of the most patient teams in baseball and given the command problems for Vazquez in recent starts the A’s look like a great bet tonight

Did you ever notice that on my baseball home page on my site, I have a pic of Mickey, Willie & the Duke?
When I see that, I think of my misspent youth - and that you use the Mick's pic also.
And it truly is a great country, isn't it? We should all celebrate what we take for granted too often.
