Gina's NBA Predictions
Thursday, January 14th, 2010 8:00 p.m. est.
Chicago Bulls (16-20) at Boston Celtics (27-10)

Boston will be without forward Kevin Garnett and doubtful Rasheed Wallace will play. Even so, Chicago has not played well away from home, just 3-13 this season, going 6-10 ATS and has lost to Boston by double-digits twice this season. Go with the impair Celtics to grab a win over the Bulls in Beantown. Chicago has lost eight of their last 9 games against the Celtics in Boston, going 3-6 ATS.

Boston Celtics -6½

Andrew's Plays for Thursday

3*** Detroit Red Wings (-185) over Carolina Hurricanes
To win their fourth straight Thursday night, the Hurricanes will have to earn their first road victory over the Detroit Red Wings in more than 20 years. The Red Wings will still be tough to beat as well and will not see any change in domination. The Hurricanes fell 5-2 at Joe Louis Arena on Dec. 9, 2007,
in their last game at Detroit. Ward suffered the loss in his first matchup with the Wings, and fell 3-1 to them at home Oct. 13, 2008. Jimmy Howard has been very strong in net and will be the same tonight if he gets the start. However, Osgood may get the start though as he is 12-4-0 with a 1.50 GAA against the Hurricanes franchise.
Take DETROIT.

1* Chicago Blackhawks -1.5 (-110) over Columbus Blue Jackets
The Chicago Blackhawks got some needed rest this week, allowing star winger Marian Hossa time to heal. Huet had a 2.81 GAA over his last seven games after posting a 2.01 GAA in his first 26 starts. Huet did beat Columbus last month as part of a 13-2-0 stretch at home, and he has a 1.58 GAA in that span. The Blackhawks have won 17 of 20 at the United Center. Advantage Chicago offense/defense.
Take CHICAGO

2**Atlanta Thrashers (+129) over Buffalo Sabres
After earning their first regulation victory in nearly two months, the Atlanta Thrashers are looking to end their four-game home stand with a winning record. Facing a Buffalo Sabres team that hasn't had much success at Philips Arena could help Atlanta accomplish that goal. The Thrashers try to win their sixth straight at home over first-place Buffalo when the teams meet for the third time this season Thursday night. The Thrashers are also 6-0-1 in the last seven overall matchups, going 1-0-1 in Buffalo this season, but Anderson tried to guard against overconfidence after Tuesday's win. Atlanta is hot right now and not cooling down.
Take ATLANTA.

2** Dallas Stars (+122) over Montreal Canadiens
The struggling Stars look to avoid a ninth straight road loss Thursday night when they conclude a three-game trip with a rare visit to Montreal to face the Canadiens. Turco is 2-2-0 with a tie and a 1.99 lifetime goals-against average versus Montreal. Losing forward Andrei Kosyn (knee surgery) and
his 12 goals for six weeks has also played a part in the Canadiens' recent offensive struggles.
Take DALLAS.

Complimentary Picks and Analysis
Game: Anaheim at Los Angeles (10:30 PM Eastern)
Pick: Los Angeles -150 (moneyline)
The Kings have had a tough first three games in this home stand losing all three, but to teams that are a combined 72-45 on the season. With last place Anaheim coming in they should be hungry for a win vs. a team they have a much more favorable matchup. The Ducks have won a season high five straight games and for a team that had not previously won more than three in a row all season, could be in prime fade position here, especially with their road dog mark at just 8-20 over their last 28, and 2-11 mark as a road dog of up to +150. The Kings have conquered the number in seven of the last nine vs. a team with a losing record, and 10 of their last 13 vs. the Pacific.
I'll grab the Kings in this one.

VR True Steam

Allright gentlemen...we are now "39-21" (65% ATS) on "TRUE STEAM" for 2009-2010...And after a "4-0" SWEEP last night, I really feel that our ratings/numbers are as sharp as ever...And I feel so good at how well we are running in all sports currently, that I'm going to pass along a bet on tonight's marquee match-up...So tonight, we are going to try and get WIN #40 by taking advantage of another "Prime-Time" Televised Game...
Truth is, I have always felt that these "Prime-Time" games offer up some of the biggest edges as far as "Line-Value" is concerned...Because there are no other games, where the oddsmakers have to account more heavily for "Public Perception"...than these televised marquee match-ups...Reason being, they will almost always receive the most betting action...And it's on these games, that the "Public Money", far out-weighs the "Wiseguy Money"...So the line is influenced more than ever by "perception", rather than "true strength"...
And in Tonight's late TNT Match-Up, I feel that we have an opportunity to get our money down...while we are getting the best of it...because of what I just touched on...So let's get to that bet right away, and see if we can cash in on this line error...VR

NBA on TNT "TRUE STEAM" for THURSDAY 1-14-10 :
1.) CLE/UTAH Total Opened 196.5....Now Total is 195...(BET UNDER)
Here is another one of those situations where the Betting Syndicates just weren't willing to show their hand when the total for this match-up was first offered yesterday afternoon at CRIS...And as we've touched on before, it don't make sense for the Outfits to take a position on a game, when there are very few "outs" willing to book it...and the limits are lower...So rather than take advantage of the line mistake immediately, they prefer to sit back and wait for more books to offer a line...
The reason this "steam" play really jumped out at me, other than the fact my "True Line" for this total is much lower than what is being offered...is because since this is a TNT "Prime-Time" Game...and more importantly, the late game (which almost always will have the most money pending)...and we are sure that the betting public will side with the OVER...the Wiseguys could have easily sat back, and allowed that pressure from the public, to force the books to adjust this total even higher...
But as I've said countless times...it's not as if these Betting Syndicates work together, nor is there just one group with an opinion that forces the books to move their numbers...So even though there may be a handful of Wiseguys who are looking to take a position on the same game, it becomes a race to see who can get the most money down, at the very best number...And although there are many times when these Outfits would love to sit back and allow the public money to force an adjustment which would give them an even bigger edge...it becomes impossible to do when someone steps up and begins to "steam" a side or total...
And rather than miss out on the party, they then are forced to step up themselves...and take their position now, knowing the number won't be the same for very long...And as the books begin to adjust, more and more of the value is gone...
That's what happened here, because very early this morning...the UNDER 196.5 got "steamed"...And although the books adjusted their total some, it wasn't enough to keep the others away...So before you knew it, the Wiseguys had positioned themselves at UNDER 196.5, 196, & 195.5...Which forced the adjustment down to 195...where this total is now at, almost all across the board...
I believe that we were looking at such an inflated total because of the fact these 2 teams played earlier in the season, and we saw them go Over the total by "20 Points"...And when you look at the series recently, you will see that 3 straight games between these two teams have gone Over the total...But with that said, only 1 of those totals was set higher than 191...
Then when you look at the current form of both these teams...you will see that BOTH have gone Over in 3 of their L/4 games coming in...And each scored 117 & 118 respectively in their last game, which was played on Monday night...
So the "perception" coming in is offense...But I believe we are in for the total opposite, and instead this will become a defensive battle where both teams prefer to play a half-court game...than run the floor...We know that Shaq is now probable, which means the Cavs will be more prone to post-up...and I have no doubt that we will see more of that from the Jazz as well...
Finally, both of these defenses come in allowing only 94pts (Cle) and 97pts (Utah) per game...
With Clevelands Defense being Ranked #1 in FG% Allowed...and #3 in PTS Allowed, while Utah is #9...
Bottom line...we have a spot where the Total is definitely inflated based on nothing more than "perception"...And it's these type of spots, that if you can get your money down on enough...will eventually lead to long-term profits...Which after all, must always be the main goal and focus if you truely plan on beating the books in the long run...VR
LINE PREDICTION : I would not be surprised at all to see this Under get "steamed" some more...But with that said, although we will then see it dip even a little lower than 195...I believe that it will then begin to once again climb back up as the betting public begins to get involved and place their wagers on tonight's games...And since this is the late TNT match-up, we may see if climb some more right before tip-off...So even though I feel that at 195, we are really getting the best of it...I don't think that we risk losing any value by waiting until much closer to tip-off, to take our position...
Thanks again for all your support...We are now RANKED #1 in CBB for WINNING % and MOST MONEY WON...(at The Sports Monitor)...After finishing up the NFL Regular Season, RANKED #2...This is a great time to be betting sports, because so much is going on simultaneously...that it becomes very difficult for there not to be plenty of mistakes to take advantage of...Best of Luck, Vegas-Runner.

Marco D'Angelo | CBB Sides Thu, 01/14/10 - 8:00 PM
double-dime bet 527 Youngstown St. 5.0 (-110) Bodog vs 528 Valparaiso
Analysis: PLAY: YOUNGSTOWN ST
RATING: DOUBLE DIME PLAY

I love the Dog here as they should be live against Valparaiso who enters tonight's game off of a gut wrenching loss to Wright St on Sunday as they lost by 2 getting 16.5 at Wright St. Valpo will be flat off that game so let's grab the points as I see this one going to the final buzzer. Take YOUNGSTOWN ST as MARCO'S 5* KEY RELEASE

St Bernadine Sports

Last night was a solid 4-2 night with the big play winning again. The unranked home team that is favored over a ranked team has been real money this year. Better than it has in the past. Past years that angle has averaged 58%, this year it is almost 70%! We have another tonight with St Mary's over Gonzaga. The only 2 losses for the night were the ugly game system plays. I honestly thought about going against my system for both of those games, but in the end I trusted the past #'s and sent in an over on both plays. Ball st could have the worst offense in all of division one hoops.

on to today:
Coll hoops:
St Mary's over Gonzaga(11pm) line has gotten out of hand on this one. What started out as a 2.5 point favorite is now a 5 point fave. I don't think st Mary's is that much of a favorite. It is now a no play. If the line should go back down to 3 tonight then play it. All of these ranked vs unranked games have ended up as 1-3point wins so with the spread going up it is now a no play.

other plays:
1* Tenn-Chattanooga -1.5 over Citadel(7pm)- Chatt has found it's groove after playing a couple of top tier teams in Ga tech and Murray st. The Moccasins have reeled off 5 in a row, all by double digits. Tenn-Chatt has won the last 10 meetings vs Citadel. It isn't a hex that is like N.Carolina over Clemson(till yesterday), but 10 in a row is hard to ignore. When you win that many in a row it is just a style mismatch that repeats itself until something major changes. It is also the same reasoning as the Michigan st play yesterday.

3*Tenn-Tech over Tenn-Martin(9pm) - Tenn Martin is one of the worst teams in Div 1 hoops. They have yet to win vs a Div 1 school this year. This game is a Rivalry game for these 2 teams, one that has been lopsided in Martin's favor recently. Tonight is Tech's turn to give the beat down. Even in losing the last 3 games, Tech has shot over 50% from the field. With more solid offense like that tonight Tenn-Martin will be powerless to stop it. Both teams are bad defensively so a likely blowout score here will be 95-80.

This will seem strange but that is all for tonight. Nothing else fits the systems.

Enjoy the night and let's go 2-0!!

good luck to us,
Lefty

GONZAGA (12-3) AT ST. MARY'S-CA (15-2), 11:00 PM (ET)

The Bulldogs carry a four-game winning streak with them into tonight's game along with a 3-2 road record. Guard Matt Bouldin leads the way for Gonzaga with 15.4 PPG, 4.4 APG and 1.9 APG while as a team the Bulldogs shoot 49% from the field and average 78.6 PPG. They travel to California to face a St. Mary's-CA team that has won five-straight and 12 of its last 13 games. The unranked Gaels are led by center Omar Samhan with his 20.8 PPG, 10.8 RPG and 2.6 BPG while as a team they shoot 50% from the field and average 82.5 PPG. Both of these teams are undefeated in conference play, Gonzaga is 1-0 and St. Mary's-CA is 2-0, so after this one is all said one of these teams will suffer it's first loss to a conference opponent.

CHOICE
Take St. Mary's-CA to win this one, along with the UNDER.

THE TRENDS REPORT
Gonzaga is 8-2 SU and 7-3 ATS in its last 10 games
St. Mary's-CA is 9-1 SU and 8-2 ATS in its last 10 games
Gonzaga is 5-3 SU and 3-5 SU in its last eight games at St. Mary's-C
