Ok guys since Tigers already Won, i´ll like to share this writte up, we´ve Marlins for tonight, but also u may use this info in your future bets.
Pitcher Orientation Makes a Difference
One item we bet on that most handicappers have no idea about is pitcher orientation. A team sometimes has the ability to perform better against lefties (or righties) based on who they faced the prior game. Think about it a little closely. If you are a hitter and the ball is coming at you from a lefty, it will appear differently than if it comes from a righty. So as a general rule of thumb, teams will perform worse if this switches, i.e. facing a lefty a day after facing a righty or vice versa.
Look at the Marlins. They are +183 today against the Rangers but they fall into this scenario.
Same orientation games, this team is 22-23, +3 units. Different orientation they are 14-23, -10.4 units. Huge difference! So I guess you could say they are a 500 baseball team in the game today and are worth MORE than the +183 the oddsmakers are giving them. For this reason, the Marlins are one of our picks today.
In some cases, it may actually hurt a team to have the same orientation. Case in point, look at the Tigers today. In games facing the same orientation as the game before, they are [17-22, -7 units] but are an incredible [27-17, +10 units] when it changes. Imagine knowing this one bit of information. It basically makes the Tigers either a 10 games above 500 team or a 5 games below 500 team.
And that's why the Tigers are our pick today.
