Matchup: Indianapolis at Houston
Time: 1:00 PM EDT (Sun)

Play: Houston (+3.5 -110)

HOUSTON (+) Over Indianapolis - Over the L2W IND has received an early Christmas present from NE HC Belichick & escaped with a win after a bruising battle at BAL. The Colts have won 19 straight & are used to playing with that target. While the Colts are on a B2B road trip that is negated by a HOU squad having played TEN on Mon Night in what was surely an emotional home effort. This is a quick turnaround as 3 weeks ago HOU covered & outgained IND but could not hold a 17-13 4Q lead & then missed a game tying FG 42 yd FG on the final play. IND is now 5-0 ATS on the road TY but the Texans can match that with a 5-0 ATS record as a HD. Schaub (311 ypg, 71% L5W) gets a great matchup vs a Colts pass defense that has allowed 307 ypg (70%) with a 4-4 ratio the L3W. HOU has also outgained their L6 foes by an avg of 115 ypg & have the #6 defense the L4W prior to MNF allowing just 17 ppg in that span. Teams are now 2-9 ATS the week after playing BAL as the Ravens physical defensive play can carry over & expect HOU to snap a 5 game series losing streak here.

Matchup: Kansas City at San Diego
Time: 4:05 PM EDT (Sun)
Play: San Diego (-13.5 -110)

SAN DIEGO over Kansas City - The Chiefs come in having won 2 games in a row for the 1st time since Sept 2007 after upsetting PIT at home LW. Despite being outgained 515-282, KC was able to capitalize on PIT’s mistakes as they had a 97 yd KR for a TD & int’d Roethlisberger 2 times to set up 10 pts. The Chiefs are proving to be a very scrappy team as while they have been outgained 397-279 over the L6 games they have covered 5 of them. The secret has been KC’s ball security & they have just 6 giveaways (3 vs SD for 37-7 loss) with 11 takeaways in the span. SD handled the Broncos LW 32-3 LW with a 348-271 yd edge, scoring on 7 of 10 drives to retake the AFC West but it was costly. The lost DE Castillo (calf) & RT Clary (leg) & their status is unknown here. While SD had 203 (4.7) yds rushing it was by 4 different backs. SD has outgained its div foes 345-270 TY & is finally playing like the team they were projected to be early in the season. KC’s win ranks as one of the biggest upsets of the season but they have still given up 400+ yds offense in 7 games TY (456 ypg in those) & 2 of their best games were vs OAK with Russell. While SD has only beaten 2 teams TY by 2 TD’s (KC & DEN) they are starting to round into form as the playoff team everyone envisioned. Member Plays

Matchup: Arizona at Tennessee
Time: 4:15 PM EDT (Sun)
Play: Tennessee (-2.5 -110)
Line Source: HILTON

TENNESSEE Over Arizona - This is a tough spot for ARZ who are in their 2nd straight road game & have a big home game vs MIN on deck. TEN is a dangerous team here as they are are on a 4 game SU & ATS win streak. They have nothing to lose & their 4 wins have given them loads of confidence. ARZ had a 21-3 lead & 299 yds LW prior to Warner being taken out after a blow to the head & only gained 128 yds afterwards. ARZ is now 4-1 ATS on the road TY & has outgained 379-316 & surprisingly have outrushed foes 154 (4.5) to 102 (4.2) as well. ARZ has gained balance on offense thanks to an improving run game (162 5.4) over the L3W. However they face a different challenge in TEN who since their 59-0 blasting by NE now have a healthy & deep secondary that is allowing 213 ypg (60%) with a 6-7 ratio. While Young isn’t putting up gaudy stats in his 3 starts (156 ypg 67% 3-1) he’s not putting the team in a bad spot. OC Heimerdinger is encouraging him to use his mobility in & out of the pocket (option plays with Chris Johnson) to keep plays alive. Warner is expected to play here but the travel situation & the reality that the Titans are playing like the playoff team they were in 2008 has us side with the Titans who are 13-5 ATS hosting an NFC

GT Bookie Battle 2009 (11-11) 2008 & 2007 (37-21-4)

Over the years I have followed the Bookies Battle in GamingToday and have posted the plays on this forum.

The angle is to fade those teams that clearly have over 70% of the casino contestants picking one side.

Over the last couple of years, it seemed to hit around 60% - 65%.The only problem: Not a lot of action.

PICK: under
Your pick will be graded at: 45 Belmont
EXPERT: Ben Burns
TITLE: *10* #1 Div. Total of '09! (9-1 TOTALS RUN)
REASON FOR PICK: I'm playing on San Diego and KC to finish UNDER the total. These teams saw their earlier meeting land right on the closing number, finishing with 44 (37-7 SD) combined points. Along with other important numbers like 37 and 41, that number (44) is quite a common final combined score. This afternoon's rematch has a slightly higher o/u number, one which is above that key number. I believe that provides us with excellent value.

Including the earlier 'push,' the UNDER is a profitable 6-3-1 the last 10 times that these teams faced each other. Four of the last five series meetings here at San Diego have finished below the total. Last year's game here had an o/u line of 47.5 but finished with only 39 points. Looking back further and we find the UNDER at 13-6 the last 19 meetings here at San Diego.

The Chargers come off a great defensive effort. In fact, they limited the Broncos to a mere three points. Despite facing the likes of the Giants and Eagles, the Chargers have now held five straight opponents to 23 points or less. Four of those opponents scored 20 points or less. Overall, those five teams averaged just 13.8 points. Not surprisingly, the UNDER was 3-1-1 in those games. In five divisional games this season, the Chargers are allowing an average of only 16 points and 269 total yards.

The Chiefs saw their most recent game finish above the total, a surprise 27-24 OT win vs. the World Champion Steelers. Even though the final score did finish above the number and even though they did give up a lot of passing yards, holding the Steelers to 24 points was impressive. In their most recent road game, the Chiefs allowed only 10 points and 271 total yards. They've seen two of their last three road games stay below the total with those opponents averaging just 13.3 points. Looking back further and we find the UNDER at a profitable 13-7 their last 20 road games. Even including the 44 point game vs. the Chargers, the Chiefs have still seen their three divisional games average only 31 combined points with the UNDER going 2-0-1. While the Chiefs allowed an average of only 280 yards in those games, their offense averaged just 11 points.

The Chargers, currently favored by nearly two have seen the UNDER go 10-5 the last 15 times that they were listed as double-digit favorites. That includes a 3-1 mark the last couple of years and 1-0 mark this season. The Chargers have also seen the UNDER go 7-1 their last eight games played in the month of November. I expect them to deliver another strong defensive effort with the UNDER improving to 5-1 the last six times that they played a home game with a total ranging from 42.5 to 45. *10 Top 2009 AFC West Total
