USC Trojans at Colorado Buffaloes
Two struggling Pac-12 teams, USC and Colorado, square off at Coors Events Center in Boulder, as both teams look to get their respective seasons back on track.
USC started off the year with a sparkling, 14-0 record, but have lost three of their last four after getting smacked at Utah, 86-64. Colorado started the season 10-3, that included a home win against Xavier, only to drop the first four games to open conference play. Its first three, though, were on the road, with games at Utah and at Arizona, and faced the fourth-ranked Bruins on Thursday.
The Trojans are amid a very difficult five-game stretch, including their current mountain road trip that precedes three home games against Arizona, Arizona State, and UCLA. The Trojans are playing their second straight game at high altitude. This feels eerily like 2015 when they made the same trip and were dealt two blowout losses. It is apparent the elevation is not kind to the Trojans. Winning on the road, particularly in the Rocky Mountains, has not been easy for coach Andy Enfield’s squad. Since he took over with the 2013-14 season, they are 4-26 in conference road games and winless in five tries at Utah and Colorado. USC has not won in Boulder, Colorado since the Buffaloes joined the Pac-12. Colorado went toe-to-toe with UCLA for the first 20 minutes Thursday before the Bruins ran away with it, 104-89. This is a “must win” for the Buffaloes, who reached the NCAA Tournament just a season ago, and duplicating the effort at home against an inconsistent USC team looks like enough to extend the Trojans skid and end their own.
Notable Trend
Trojans are 1-8 ATS in their last 9 games overall & 1-5 in their last 6 vs. Pac-12.
