"1 UNIT" PRIMETIME INJURY INTANGIBLE (Yankees -140 at Angels in a 9:05 eastern start broadcast on the MLB Network---------Sabathia versus Santana): The host Angels were originally planning to start the red hot Dan Haren (2.29 ERA along with an excellent Sub-One ratio) tonight but his assignment has been pushed back to Tuesday due to back problems. In his place Los Angeles goes with Ervin Santana who is coming off his worst outing of the season where he surrendered SIX runs. Going into last night the Yankees were riding a 4-game road winning streak where the offense was averaging more than 6 runs per contest. That run of prosperity hit a bump in the road on Friday as the Angels ace Jered Weaver who got off to an incredible start back in April (6-0, 0.99 ERA) finally notched his first victory since opening month. With his stellar effort Weaver improved to 16-5 when taking the mound in the month of June so the Friday result came as no personal shock. What is a bit shocking is that the Yankees have been cast as a prohibitive favorite tonight even though their track record when playing at Angels Stadium (8-21) has always been poor. The reason why New York is a large road favorite this evening has to do with the most recent three mound assignments from C.C. Sabathia (3-0, 1.80 ERA) as he is now performing as the team's true ace. My database research indicates that in the past three years the Yankees are a spectacular "23-5" when off 7 consecutive games played on the road. Meanwhile in the past couple of campaigns the Angels are the exact opposite (3-14) when off consecutive gems where the pitchers held the opposition to "two or less" runs on the scoreboard each time
