St. Louis -125 over COLORADO 10 Dimes (Risk 12.5/Win 10)
(List Garcia/Nicasio)

I love this matchup in favor of the Cards with Garcia on the mound. His power sinker (Which may be the best in the game) may be the biggest advantage anyone can ask for, given the thin air at Coor's field. Furthermore, we pit his 5-0, sub 2 ERA stat-line up against an undrafted arm out of AA Tulsa. To be fair, Nicasio (who is replacing De La Rosa) has pitched very well in the minors, but has no higher experience beyond the half dozen or so AA starts that he worked this year. It will be interesting to see how his stuff works on major league hitters.

CHICAGO CUBS (-125, list both pitchers) over Pittsburgh Pirates, 5 dimes
The Buccos won yesterday at Wrigley, but today they face a fresh and determined Randy Wells. Coming off of some forearm soreness, Wells has thrown very well this calendar year. With the pitching problems the Cubs are dealing with, this guy knows that he has to perform today. That shouldn't be too much of a problem for him as he has historically thrown decent against the Pirates (2-1 with a 3.46 ERA.) Pittsburgh also has some hangups about hitting off of righties. On the other side of the bill, Paul Maholm has dropped four straight decisions due to the lowest run support in the majors. Things should get harder for him in this afternoon matchup because the Cubs have been knocking the cover off the ball against lefties (.298 average and scoring 5.6 runs per game.) The quality of Maholm's pitching suffers noticeably on the road as well. Easy choice here, take the home team.

HOUSTON ASTROS/Arizona Diamondbacks over 8.5 runs, 5 dimes
Arizona Diamondbacks (+110, list both pitchers) over HOUSTON ASTROS, 5 dimes
The D'backs have been cruising lately, posting a 12-2 record over their last 14 games. Things are bouncing their way, and against Bud Norris today, their luck shouldn't change. Norris fears Arizona, and who could blame him? He's gotten shelled in his three starts against them, allowing a ridiculous .380 batting average and an ERA of over 14! Norris has also had a steadily climbing ERA over his last 4 starts. He's gradually losing his edge. Arizona hits righties fairly well, averaging 4.4 runs against them. Once Norris is taken out of the game, Houston's bullpen isn't the most reliable either. Taking the hill for Arizona is former Pirate Zach Duke. Duke is making his season debut after getting drilled in the hand by a line drive earlier this year. The kid has shown flashes of good stuff during his career, but he's nothing more than an average pitcher at best. He got rocked in his latest rehab start, and I can't see him having much command today. Take the red hot Diamondbacks here, and expect them to edge out the Astros in a high scoring affair.

5* MLB BEST BET
WHITESOX
Take the Whitesox today as they have not had back to back losses in over 3 weeks. Their Offense was shut down yesterday and I expect them to make a full recovery here today. SP Jackson is 1-0 with a 1.32 ERA in his last four starts in Toronto. SP Carlos Villanueva for Toronto is untested and though he sports a low ERA he has only started 2 times this year and has been under relief the rest of the year. The Jays are just 6-15 in day games on the year, and 10-14 after a win. Take the Whitesox. listing Jackson.

5* MLB BEST BET
RAYS RUNLINE
I look for more of the same today as Tampa beat Cle yesterday in a 5-0 ball game. SP Shields has been $ so far this year going 5-2 with a 2.00 ERA, in his last start he struck out a career-high 13 in a three-hitter as the Rays (27-23) beat Florida 4-0. Cleveland is 0-2 this year after getting shutout. SP Carrasco was beat on May 11th at Cleveland and will be making his first appearance at Tropicana field. Carrasco was reached for four runs and six hits in five innings of the 8-2 loss. Lets take the Rays on the Runline as I see more value than risking the high juice. Best Bet Rays Runline!
