Denver Nuggets +8 over MIAMI HEAT, 10 dimes
This is way too many points for this situation. Both teams have won 4 out of their last 5 games, but we have to remember how the Heat have a penchant for not covering the number at home this season. The boys from South Beach are 3-5 ATS in their last 8 at the American Airlines Arena, while Denver is rolling on the road (6-1 ATS run.) On top of that, Denver possesses more team cohesion right now than Miami. With the acquision of new players in the Carmelo Anthony deal, the Nuggets have surprisingly found a way to get the best out of these players in the least amount of time. Not only are the new players stepping up, but familiar bench players such as Birdman Andersen are producing at a consistent rate. And better yet, these guys are actually playing defense. Danilo Gallinari will be in his second game back from injury, and he should have the cobwebs shook off him by tonight. Denver's got the talent, coaching, and teamwork to keep up with Miami in every category. They were cold last night when shooting from the perimeter, but I can't see that happening two nights in a row. Good spot to grab up the points here.
Richmond Spiders -4 over Morehead State Eagles, 10 dimes
Sure, Morehead State cruised through the 2nd half of the season. They won 13 out of their last 14 games. But who have they beat this year of significance besides Louisville? Nobody. They've padded their schedule all season against cupcakes in the Ohio Valley Conference, while Richmond has had to play a respectable schedule against the likes of VCU, Dayton, Xavier, Temple, Purdue, Old Dominion..you get the picture. While Richmond hasn't played the toughest schedule in the nation, they have much more experience in high profile games than Morehead. While on the subject of experience, Richmond has it. The Spiders start 4 seniors, 2 of which were named First-Team all A10. They rebound well, they vigorously defend, they share the ball, and they limit turnovers. While Morehead State is susceptable to the classic letdown scenario in this game, Richmond is a seasoned team with previous NCAA tourney experience, and they very much expected to beat Vanderbilt in the first round. I'm not buying into this Cinderella. Let's lay the chalk with the better team here.
