REASON FOR PICK:
Memphis is a young team and they face a difficult scheduling situation today as they must play their first true road game of the season. Georgetown is the better overall team and they also have a major revenge motive after losing at Memphis 85-71 last season.
Georgetown now fits a solid 62% non-conference revenge situation and the Hoyas also qualify in an 88-48 ATS home favorite momentum situation after their easy 100-38 win on Monday. Georgetown’s offense is in excellent current form and has shot 53, 53, 59, and 70% in their past four games with 78, 75, 73, and 100 points scored.
Memphis is a weaker team this season after losing Derrick Rose, Chris Douglas-Roberts, and Joey Dorsey from last year’s Final Four squad. Memphis lost outright to the one quality team they have faced this year in a 63-58 loss at a 6½-point favorite versus Xavier, and the Tigers have struggled in some other games versus inferior opponents. Most notably was a lackluster 83-71 win versus UT Chattanooga as a 22½-point favorite. This win by only 12 points is not impressive considering UT Chattanooga has lost by 39 points to Tennessee, by 28 points versus Missouri, and by 27 points versus Southern Cal this year.
