WISCONSIN BADGERS + 16 GAME AT 3:30

FLA STATE -3 GAME AT 8

OVER 52 SMU vs EAST CAROLINA GAME AT 8

XXXX PLAY TOP TOTAL

The SMU Mustangs defense has proven to be a very porous but scoring unit, as evidenced by their nation-leading 12 interceptions so far on the season & 17 takeaways and have forced multiple turnovers in four straight games. However, if it weren't for those takeaways, the team could very well be starting at an 0-4 record entering this game. SMU ranks 111th in the nation in total defense (400.5 ypg) and 100th in scoring defense (31.25 ppg). What makes those 12 interceptions so impressive is the fact that the front-seven hasn't been able to generate a ton of pressure . East Carolina had a great week & will really put up the points

Game: Michigan Wolverines @ Iowa Hawkeyes - Saturday October 10, 2009 8:00 pm
Pick: 5 units ATS: Iowa Hawkeyes -7.5 (-110)

Michigan is a much-improved team, but their miracle finish vs. Notre Dame at home has changed this team into something they are not, at least in the eyes of the public and oddsmakers. We saw a hint of it last week as they opened as a favorite and by kickoff were a four-point underdog. They went on to show the truth in a loss at not-so-highly regarded Michigan State. After four games at home to start the season, last week was their first road game and they must do it again on the road this week. The biggest hole for Michigan is on defense. Eliminating uncompetitive games vs. Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan, the Wolverines have allowed 31 points per game. They face an Iowa team that has the defensive prowess to shut down the Wolverines offense, and that simply puts added pressure on a defense that has trouble getting stops. We were on Iowa vs. Penn State as a 5-unit play two weeks ago when they won as a 10 point dog. I liked them so much in that game because of their defense. The same applies here. The Hawkeyes won that game by holding Penn State (who has better offense than Michigan) to just 10 points on the road. And they were able to generate 21 against a Penn State defense that is much better than Michigan's. So, if Iowa can win in Happy Valley, they should have no problem here at home vs. a weaker team. The Hawkeyes have delivered a 37-17 ATS mark in their last 54 at home. They are 10-2 ATS as a favorite from 3.5-10 points and 8-1 ATS after 5+ straight wins under Kirk Ferentz. Michigan is 2-6-1 ATS the past few years as a Big Ten underdog. And, Rich Rodriguez is just 1-10 ATS vs. teams that allow14 or fewer points per game! I like Iowa in this one.

I agree Kelso is a big disappointment this year.

he is cashing in on last year's success. he has a few 50 and 100 unit plays every weekend now, where last year he was patient and had one every few weeks.

this is what always happens with these guys. success is a 1 season thing.

TCU vs. Air Force (NCAAF) - 7:30 PM EDT Premium Pick

TCU -10.5: This was a trap game two years ago for TCU but most of this team that lost to AF will not let it happen again. Plus TCU has the best run defense in all the country. TCU takes great pride in the defense and today they keep AF under 10 pts and will win going away. TCU offense is just good enough to move the ball on the ground and chew up the clock. Huge mismatch with the best defense that is so athletic verse an average team that wins with the option. Mismatch easy winner. SCORE TCU 27 - AF 10

BET THE FARM 3*: Washington Capitals +120

I don't like what I'm seeing in Detroit. Chicago outplayed them the other night, but still lost and you can see a major weakness revealing itself in Chicago with the unpredictable Huet. Washington is locked, loaded and ready to play this game. Detroit is reeling, now with even another big injury to them by the loss of Franzen.

STRONG PK 2*: Nashville Predators -120

Tough matchup and I am not swayed by the story that Buffalo will pepper Dan Ellis (if he even starts) and run him off the ice like last year. Buffalo is not scoring. Nashville is tough on the blueline and they will hold the line tonight in my opinion. NASHVILLE is 15-5 ATS (+9.9 Units) on Saturday games over the last 2 seasons. BUFFALO is 5-13 ATS (-10.0 Units) after a non-conference game over the last 2 seasons

Hockey 6* (Regular Play) Washington Capitals Money Line (+) @ Detroit @ 7:05 ET – RATING SYSTEM: Plays now range from 6* on up to 10* so this will include 7* and 8* picks as well. 6* will be the most common play rating with a 9* being a Top Play! 10* plays will be rare but, of course, are even a step above a 9* Top Play!

The Red Wings lost to the Penguins in the Stanley Cup Finals. What does that have to do with this game? Although it’s just one “piece of the puzzle” you can bet that the Capitals know that could have been them hoisting the Stanley Cup. This is now their chance to “measure up” and, as a result, they are geared up for this game. The Capitals were eliminated from the playoffs last season by the Penguins and then had to sit back and watch as Pittsburgh won it all right after the Caps season had just ended. While Detroit is coming off of a tight win over the Blackhawks on Thursday, the Capitals are coming off back to back losses at Philadelphia and versus the New York Rangers. The Caps blew leads in both games and lost to the Flyers in overtime and were defeated by the Rangers by a one-goal margin. These tight defeats have the Capitals ready to finally play “both ways” and give more effort on the defensive end. That has been a problem for the Capitals early this season but, taking some of the pressure off tonight is the fact that the Red Wings offense has taken some major hits.

Note that Detroit has lost a lot of last season’s offensive production. Marian Hossa and Tomas Kopecky signed with the Blackhawks while Jiri Hudler is now playing in Russia and Mikael Samuelsson is now playing for the Canucks. Add a 5th name to this list now as Johan Franzen is out for about four months with a torn ACL! These guys account for over 40% of the goals that Detroit scored last season and the Red Wings simply won’t be able to keep up with a red-hot Capitals offense on Saturday night. Detroit started their season 0-2 and finally got into the win column while Washington started the season 2-0 but has gone winless in their last two games. The healthier, hungrier, focused Capitals bounce back from their tight losses with a “statement win” against a Western Conference foe they’ve been hungry to play against. The Caps beat the Red Wings in their last match-up, in January, and Alexander Ovechkin now has four goals in three career games against Detroit. He and the Capitals offense stay hot here. Play Washington on the money line as a 6* Regular Play selection
