Cincinnati Reds w/Arroyo over Philadelphia
Texas Rangers w/Mathis over Cleveland
San Francisco w/Sanchez over NY
The Reds are 4-1 in Arroyo's last five starts as he looks to rebound from an awful start to the 2008 season. Since a one inning outing where he gave up seven earned against the Braves on May 4th, he has given up just seven earned in five starts since. He has also struck out 32 batters over those five starts as well. The rookie Jay Bruce has really provided a spark to the Cincinatti lineup, and going into Philly tonight he should be licking his chops. Take the Reds tonight.
Doug Mathis hasn't pitched since May 25, when he made his first career start against Cleveland. He gave up one run in six innings of Texas' 10-inning, 2-1 win at Jacobs Field in his second start. He looks to duplicate that tonight against these same Indians. The Indians are 1-9 in their last 10 road games and are Indians are 3-12 in their last 15 overall. The Rangers are 9-2 in their last 11 home games vs. a left-handed starter and will beat Laffey tonight.
The Giants Sanchez got his first win in a while last time out, an 11-3 win against the Diamondbacks. He allowed two runs in six innings, and now has gone at least six innings in his last three starts. Six runs allowed combined over those three starts as well. As for Oliver Perez, he is the jekyll and hyde pitcher on the Met staff. He can be brilliant or stink up the joint. He doesn't have a win against the Giants in his career, going 0-4 with an ERA of almost six against them. San Francisco wins.

1000 Dime - Seattle Mariners
The Rockies have dropped 12 in a row on the road and it ends tonight. Why? Derek Lowe will go for the Dodgers. Lowe is 0-4 with a 6.02 ERA in seven starts since his last win on April 23 against Arizona. He has dropped four straight starts against the Rockies including a 7-2 loss at Coors Field on May 4 in which he gave up five runs in five innings. He is 5-6 with a 5.33 ERA in 14 career starts against Colorado. All Reynolds has to do is not walk people and he is fine. Kind of like Oliver Perez, who'll we'll talk about next. Rockies win.
As for Oliver Perez, he has no lifetime wins against the Giants, but he'll get his first tonight. Why? His Mets are rolling, winners of six of seven and coming off a dominant performance against the Dodgers last night at Shea. The Mets are 13-6 when the opposing starter is left-handed and will take on Jonathan Sanchez tonight. The Mets are 8-2 in Perez's last 10 starts as a road favorite and will cruise to another win tonight.
The Mariners own the worst record in the AL and have dropped nine of their last 12 games. So why do I like them tonight? Just a hunch. Santana has been too good, overachieving if you will. Washburn has always seemed to pitch well against his former team, the Angels, and lefties do give the Angels trouble. Seattle is mired in a season long slump, but expect them to get a nice victory tonight at home.
