OC DOOLEY
“1 UNIT" PERCENTAGE BASEBALL TOTAL (Padres at Rockies OVER 10 in a 8:40 eastern start-----Bass versus Cook): Even though this game is being played in Colorado, one has to wonder why we have a double-digit posted total involving a contest where the lowest scoring offense in the National League is involved. To give you an idea how feeble the San Diego attack has been recently, the Padres in the past week have crossed the plate a grand total of only 14 times while the team batting average (.224) has been hovering around the mendoza-line. To make a long story short the Padres have stayed competitive due to an outstanding pitching staff that constantly has kept them in games. Due to injury the San Diego starting rotation finally has suffered a momentary dent as the team has had to call up Anthony Bass tonight for what is just a "spot" start. Even though his minor league numbers have been solid, Bass at one point was way down at the Double-A level. It goes without saying that the Padres will quickly go to their bullpen tonight and my research indicates that Colorado is a stunning 12-1 OVER/HOME when facing an excellent bullpen whose WHIP (1.150 or better) is low. This series would appear to be just what the doctor ordered for the San Diego offense which is going up against a struggling Colorado staff that permitted 21 combined runs during the weekend. The Rockies certainly have had no offensive problems in the past five games scoring 35 combined runs while batting .348 at the plate. Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez is on a current .632 batting clip in that span with 7 extra-base hits along the way. Going back to the database San Diego is a whopping 15-3 OVER/ROAD after three consecutive games where the pitching allowed "two or less" runs. The big news is that for the entire season to date Colorado is 7-0 OVER/HOME following a game where they allowed an opponent to score at least 8 times
