Hondo

The Honzie Scheme -- Hondo's plan in which he rides whoever's playing the Wilponzie Mets -- failed miserably again yesterday when those disgraceful Diamondbacks were swept out of town. However, he also backed the Marlins so the deficit remained at 445 griches.

Tonight, Mr. Aitch will put the good Weaver to the ultimate test -- 10 units on the Angels.

Under is 12-4 in Eastern games so far, 8-5 in Western games; favorites are 6-10 vs spread out west, 2-10-1 in the East.

Home side won all eight Portland-Dallas games, with Blazers covering five of eight. Roy was 8-10 from floor in 4th quarter of Game 4; Blazers stormed back from 23-point deficit to even series. Portland was +16 in 24:29 that Roy was on floor, -12 in 23:31 without him. Mavericks took only 10 FTs in Game 4, after taking 29-26-23 in first three games; they are 7-1 vs spread in last eight games overall. Blazers have to win at least one of the two games left in Dallas to win the series.

Memphis is 7-0 vs spread when playing Spurs this year; they're 12-3 vs spread in last 15 games overall. Spurs are 5-10 in last 15 games; they're
+22 in series with Ginobili on floor, -22 without him (-9 in 12:31 with Ginobili on bench in Game 3). Spurs have 111-82 edge in foul shots in first tthree games; Grizzlies shot 39.8/42.3% in last two games; they hit 55.2% of shots in first game, but had 10 shots blocked in last game.

This is where Nuggets miss traded Anthony; they're just 17-55 from arc in first three series games, shooting 39.1/37.2% in last two games after making 50.6% in Game 1 loss. Lack of a bigtime star who can get his own shot isn't good in the NBA. Oklahoma City won eight of its last nine games, five of last six vs Denver. Interesting that Denver shot 115 free throws in series so far, Thunder 98.

Road team won last four Tampa Bay-Pittsburgh games; Lightning waxed Pens 8-2 Saturday, scoring four power play goals in 8:16 on power play. Tampa scored 5-8 goals in two series wins, 0-2-2 in losses. Pittsburgh won six of last eight games overall, but are 1-25 (39:28) on power play so far in series. Pens won both games in series here by 3-2 scores; would be concerned about getting crushed the way Vancouver was in Game 4 of their series- Canucks haven't recovered yet.

San Jose is 12-5 in last 17 games overall; over is 12-4-2 in last 18 games; Sharks outshot LA 19-6 in first period of Game 5, yet still trailed 3-0, so Quick has made big difference between pipes for Kings. Road team won last four series games; home team is 0-21 on power play in series. Two of Sharks' three series wins came in OT- they've been outscored in first period 8-1 in series. Over is 14-3-3 in Western Conference games.

Oklahoma City +140 over DENVER

With all due respect to the Spurs, Lakers and anyone else that night advance, the Thunder might just be the best team in the West. The pickup of Kendrick Perkins is proving to be a monster move for the Thunder and the emergence of Serge Ibaka has been nothing short of remarkable. Ibaka is the NBA’s best-kept secret. He’s a rebounding and shot-blocking machine and he’s as good as anyone else on the team at hitting those mid-range jumpers. With Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant and Kendrick Perkins and Serge Ibake, you won’t find a better starting quartet in the league. Now the Thunder can close it out and they likely will. No team has ever come from 0-3 down to win a series so there’s the possibility of the Nuggets calling it a day. They’ve been outplayed, outhustled and out-everything. Do they want to go back to Oklahoma for an inevitable loss or do they want to start their vacation? They might show up but even if they do they’re the second best team with no chance of advancing. The Thunder can get some rest with a win tonight. There’s a good chance they can get home-court in round two should the Grizz beat the Spurs but more than that they would love to show a killer instinct. Ok City is superior in every way and that last minute rally did nothing except wake up the Thunder to the fact that you have to play hard until the final buzzer goes off. Tonight, the final buzzer is likely to go off on the Nuggets season. Play: Oklahoma City +140 (Risking 2 units).

MILWAUKEE –1 +119 over Cincinnati

At most places you can lay a run by using the dropdown menu and that’s precisely what we’re going to do here. The Reds swept the Brewers in the season opening series and it didn’t sit well with Milwaukee and thus, the Brewers are really looking forward to this series. Bronson Arroyo has an excellent K/BB ratio of 3/18. However, the opposition is hitting .292 off him and his groundball/fly-ball ratio of 31%/49% is also alarming. Arroyo also has an unsustainable strand rate of 74% and when you put it all together, what we have here is a very lucky starter going for the Reds. In addition, Cinci has dropped seven of 10 and over the past week (7 games), they’re hitting a combined .184. By contrast, the Brewers lead the league over that same stretch with a combined BA of .333. Chris Narverson has a BAA of .204 and an ERA of 2.19. Narverson has yet to lose a game and deserves more than a single win. In 24.2 innings, he’s allowed just 18 hits and struck out 23. Narveson still has a lot to prove as a starting pitcher but his performance last season was promising, and he's off to a fast start this year. He possesses a solid strikeout rate, decent command and an improving groundball% (45). The Brewers get some payback in this series and it starts with game one. Play: Milwaukee –1 +119 (Risking 2 units).
