(3% play) DENVER +1.5 (vs. Memphis) - 9:05 pm ET #710

Memphis will play their third consecutive road game, and their fourth road game in six games since the All-Star break. That is not a good thing, especially for a team that will be playing in the thin air and altitude of Denver. The Grizzlies won 102-101 in Denver last month, but Memphis was playing with a much different roster back then. The Memphis front office cleaned house after that game when they got rid of Courtney Lee and Jeff Green and acquired nothing but baggage in return with Lance Stephenson, P.J. Hairston, and Chris Andersen. The Grizzlies are already without Marc Gasol for the rest of the season. The moves made by management were to accumulate draft picks as they rebuild their old and aging roster over the next couple of seasons. Since making the moves, Memphis has gone 3-2 SU with two wins over the hapless Lakers, and a lucky comeback win at home over Minnesota. The Grizzlies were not competitive against the Raptors, and they lost to a terrible Phoenix team. Memphis’ current roster simply has no business laying points on the road.

Denver returns home off back-to-back road games with their last being a 122-116 overtime loss in Dallas. The Nuggets also lost their last two home games, so we expect a peak performance in tonight’s game. Denver is 0-17 SU this season when getting out-rebounded, but the Nuggets should dominate the glass tonight. In the last two meetings against Memphis, the Nuggets had a 99-80 rebounding edge, including a 29-15 edge on the offensive glass. The Grizzlies have also historically struggled in Denver; Memphis is 4-26 SU their last 30 visits to the Mile High City. Denver’s offense has scored 100 points or more in nine consecutive home games, and in ten of their last eleven home games overall. Memphis has allowed 105.4 points per game in their last five games, so the Nuggets will have a lot of offensive success tonight. We’ll take the points with Denver in this game on Monday night.

I would've posted the Merril write-up, but, I thought it wasn't allowed... Is this something different, CPAW? "Steve Merril SportsAlatex Sports" .....says on page 1 daily no write-ups. Just looking for clarification. Thanks

Memphis -2.5 top play nba

Grizzlies minus 2 1/2 at Nuggets (2 units)

Memphis is 10 games above .500 and 4-2 since losing its best player, Marc Gasol, to a broken right foot. The Grizzlies are still a borderline playoff team without Gasol, at their best versus lower tier opponents such as the Nuggets. The Grizzlies have defeated Denver four straight times and are in a great spot to continue that streak.

The Grizzlies should be primed for a strong, concentrated effort after an embarrassing, 111-106, road loss to the Suns on Saturday. This is what Grizzlies point guard Mike Conley was quoted as saying following that loss: "We still feel like we are rolling right now and playing good basketball. For us to come out and not play our best, I think our focus level wasn't where it need to be."

Denver is 13 games below .500. The Nuggets are headed for worse, too, after losing their best player, Danilo Gallinari. He suffered a severe ankle injury in the Nuggets' last game, a 122-116 overtime loss to the Mavericks.

Gallinari is the key to the Nuggets. He leads the team in scoring at 19.5 points and also is the man when the offense breaks down -which it often does - by his ability to get to the free throw line when nothing is going on. Gallinari connects on 86.8 percent of his free throws. Even with Gallinari's great free throw percentage, the Nuggets rank 16th in the NBA in free throw percentage at 76.5 percent. Now that mediocre percentage is headed lower with Gallinari sidelined. Denver went 1-5 in December when Gallinari missed six games with another ankle injury.

The Grizzlies still have the veteran savvy, huge point guard edge with Conley and bench to cover this short road number against a Denver team that could be reduced to a starting lineup of D.J. Augustin, Gary Harris, Kenneth Faried, Darrell Arthur and JaKarr Sampson. Faried is the only legitimate starter of that bunch.

Risk: $44,000 to win $40,000

Would love to have $44k on Kansas right now up 20 41-21
heck even $440 would be sweet. Im pissed to lose a tiny $44 but
when you make $5 and $10 bets $44 sucks. No biggie though
this is for entertainment purposes only ?
