NFL Preseason
Ravens -3 over Jets

Marc Sanchez will make his first NFL start today against a Ravens Defense that was created by his head coach Rex Ryan. If Ryan had a Veteran QB he could really help with picking apart weaknesses in Baltimore's complex defense, but there is no way Sanchez is going to be able to adjust to the Ravens speed especially with his offensive line banged up and not together for tonight's start. The Ravens have the better QB play and have yet to give up a point this preseason. I think they will really break this game open in the second half with Troy Smith under center. Smith is a veteran QB who has improved tremendously this off season. The Jets second and third units were beaten by the Rams last weekend. The Ravens depth is much better than that. Ray Lewis will have his guys fired up at home on Monday Night regardless of this being just a preseason game. Take the Ravens.

Your TOP NFL Winner for Monday is:

Play on New York Jets (+3) over Baltimore

8:00 P.M. EST (10* Top NFL Play)

New York has covered the spread in 9 of the last 10 pre-season road games when the total posted is between 32.5 and 35 points and they have also covered the spread in 24 of the last 35 pre-season games when the line is between +3 to -3. Baltimore has lost 5 consecutive pre-season games against the spread in non-conference games and they have also lost 3 consecutive pre-season games against the spread at home when the total posted is between 32.5 and 35 points.

Indian Cowboy
6 Unit Play. #961. Take Cleveland Indians -105 over Kansas City Royals (Monday @ 8:10pm est). Sowers has done very well of late as the lefty has put together 4 of 5 quality starts. Although he has not been able to improve in the "W" column much, his starts have been of quality. He has fallen short to the Rangers 1-4 and to the Angels 0-3 as they were tough luck losses. He has yet to face the Royals and I believe that will give an edge in the early going against the Royals. Bear in mind that the young man went to Chicago recently and pitched 7 innings and defeated the Whitesox 6-2 and also went to Seattle and went 7 innings and pitched a shutout there as well picking up two easy victories for the Indians. Meche has won his last 2 games but has struggled a bit as he has gone a total of 10 innings and given up 15 hits on 8 runs. This is also a bit of a revenge game for Cleveland as well as Meche went 7 innings and didn't yield a run to Cleveland in his last start on June 10th. I don't expect Cleveland to be blanked like that in this start. The Indians are 12-5 when they face a pitcher with a WHIP greater than 1.15 and the Royals are 1-7 in Meche's last 8 home starts.

Good luck,

MLB BASEBALL PLAYS

3 Unit Play. #966 Take Los Angeles Angels –125 over Detroit (Monday 8/24 10:05 PM)

Jered Weaver is on fire and is pitching the best season of his four-year career. Weaver’s record is an impressive 13-4 with a shutout performance in his last start and tonight we should see the same outing against Detroit at home. Tigers are just 4-10 in Anaheim since the start of the 2006 season. The Angels are 5-1 following a SU loss. Detroit is 8-22 in their last 30 road games.

These are all the picks for the MLB today.

1 Unit Play. Take Over 32.5 between the New York Jets @ Baltimore Ravens (Monday @ 8pm est). Although many expect this game to be low scoring, I don't believe so. I think both offenses have the spurt to score here - mainly the Ravens. Remember, the Ravens continue to have success with Flacco as they put up 23 points against the Ravens. Plus, Troy Smith passed for 200 yards in the last game. Similar to the Titans, both quarterbacks having success yields more points. The Jets have some uncertainty with the quarterback rotation as well which I believe the increased competition will yield to more points - primarily between Erik Ainge and Mark Sanchez. I look for the Ravens to put up at least 24 in this effort while the Jets tack on a about two scores. I have this game closing between 37 and 38 points.

Good luck,

15 UnitsGiants {B.Zito} (+160) over Rockies {J.Marquis}
8:40 PM -- Coors Field
San Francisco Giants (67-57) +160 over COLORADO ROCKIES (70-54) Pitching for San Francisco: LH Barry Zito (8-11, 4.26) Pitching for Colorado: RH Jason Marquis (14-8, 3.58) Giants Trend Profile: Last 10: 5-5, Streak: Lost 2, Road Record: 28-37, Against RHP: 49-43. Rockies Trend Profile: Last 10: 7-3, Streak: Won 2, Home Record: 34-24, Against LHP: 20-19. Starting Time: 8:40 TV: Comcast Sports Network San Francisco Bay Area, Fox Sports Rocky Mountains Comments: It has been lost on most that Giants lefty Barry Zito has an E.R.A. of 2.36 since the All-Star break, which is better than the team’s two aces—Tim Lincecum (2.65) and Matt Cain 2.53). The figures say Zito is at the top of his form and is ready to pitch his best game of the season and that should be enough for the Giants to get the job done in the pitchers’ duel of the day.
Partly cloudy with a 40-percent chance of rain. Winds blowing out to center field at 5-15 m.p.h. Game-time temperature: Around 70.
