Kyle's Pick(s)
2 UNIT = Oakland Athletics @ Toronto Blue Jays - OVER 9 RUNS (-110)
Listed Pitchers: Kazmir vs. Hendriks
(Note: I'm risking 2.00 units to win 1.82 units)
Two teams here heading in the same direction, going up. Even though the A's blew two leads yesterday, they were on a five game winning streak prior to that, 8-2 their last 10 games. The Blue Jays will come home after trips to Texas and Boston were successful. They took 2/3 from the Rangers and then pummeled the Red Sox three straight. The bats came out to play in Boston, scoring 20 runs en route to a route in each game. This is the offense we should come to expect from Toronto as they have plenty of power with Edwin Encarnacion, Melky Cabrera, and Jose Bautista. Scott Kazmir has had a pretty solid 2014 thus far, but I expect those numbers to regress. He's on pace for his best season ever, this being his 10th in the majors. His best year was a 3.24 ERA in 2006. The last full three seasons pitching yielded a 4.04, 5.94, and 5.92. This season Kazmir sports a 2.39 ERA, I don't expect that to stick, and I expect the Jays to be able to raise it in this spot. He hasn't been as great on the road with a 2.96 ERA and .317 OBA, whereas it is a 1.91 ERA and .234 OBA at home. Liam Hendriks will be making his debut with the Blue Jays tonight after three dreadful campaigns with the Twins. In those three years Hendriks went for a 6.85 ERA, 5.59 ERA, and 6.17 ERA. Last year his WHIP was high at 1.71 parlayed with .375 OBA. The A's are known for grinding out low-scoring wins, but this year the offense has been just fine. The Athletics favor the OVER 24-21. As well the Blue Jays are 28-18 in that same respect. I think the Blue Jays stay hot on offense, and Hendriks has shown absolutely nothing in his career to confidently say he'll have a nice outing against the A's.
