SPORTS WAGERS

Boston -½ -103 over OTTAWA

It’s hard to imagine the Sens competing here or anywhere for the remainder of the season. Not only have the Sens traded away some of their most talented players, they also traded away a big part of the heart of this team. Chris Kelly was as gritty as Mike Fisher and both guys were popular in the locker room. So, too, was Jarkko Ruutu. The word is that Ruutu’s presence in the locker room will be missed most of all, as he was loved by everyone and kept things very loose. In any case, things are looking very bleak for the Sens in the next couple of years and one has to wonder how veteran guys like Jason Spezza, Milan Michalek and Alex Kovalev will stay motivated in the season’s final few weeks. The Sens leading point getter is Erik Karlsson with 32 and that’s a pathetic fact. The B’s are coming off a rather easy victory last night in a game they led 3-0 after 10 minutes in, 4-0 after a minute into the second and 6-2 going to the third. They really should be able to come in here and do the same thing to the reeling and likely disinterested Sens. Play: Boston -½ -103 (Risking 2.06 units to win 2).

WUNDERDOG
NCAAB 1 OF 5
Game: Dartmouth at Columbia (7:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: Dartmouth +11.5 (-110)

The Columbia Lions have played well at home, bringing an 8-2 mark into this one. This is still a team that has been a double-digit dog three times on the season, and has not been favored by more than 5.5 in any game. They are now asked to double that mark. The fact is that the last time this team was a 10+ point favorite in any game, it was against this same Dartmouth team all the way back to the 2007-08 season. As an -11.5 point favorite, not only did they not get the cover, but they lost by 15. Dartmouth, as usual, finds themselves on the bottom of the Ivy League standings, but this number is much too high and an unfamiliar role for the Lions.
I will play Dartmouth, taking the points in this one.

TOP PLAY OF THE DAY (Courtesy of Rocky Atkinson)

Philadelphia @ Carolina 8:05 PM EST
Play On: Philadelphia -135

Philadelphia is a nice 19-9 SU on the road this year. Philadelphia is 10-1 SU overall vs Carolina the past 3 years including 5-0 SU at Carolina past 3 seasons. Philadelphia is 7-1 last 8 against a team with a losing record. Philadelphia is 39-12 last 51 against Eastern Conference teams. Philadelphia is 41-16 last 57 games as a favorite. Carolina is 8-21 last 29 as an underdog. Carolina is 0-6 last 6 games as a home underdog. Philadelphia is 27-7 last 34 meetings in this series. We'll recommend a small play on Philadelphia tonight! Thanks and good luck, Rocky

10 dimes Weber State -1
Weber State is on a roll right now, winning 6 games in a row SU and ATS. They are a good 3-point shooting team and have good depth on the bench. San Jose State has been inconsistent all year. They are coming off a win, but are only 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games, and only 6-5 at home this year. They also give up an average of 75 points per game, which ranks them 315th in the nation (out of 346 teams). Look for a high scoring affair in this game, with Weber State playing enough defense to keep San Jose State in check and come away with the victory. Roll with the Wildcats tonight.

Does anyone have the true stats of all these cappers, like Indian Cowboy, Wunderdogs, Justin Covers, Jimmy Boyd, etc. Here is what I have so far since Dec 9, 2010

B Lang 43-29 (59.7%) +164 dimes
D Mancini 21-14 (60%) +272.5 dimes

From College Hoops Forum

SSI 19-8 (70%) +102 units in Feb 2011 only
TonyMar 36-25-2 (59%) +139.1 units (not sure far back these numbers go)
Luck1g 37-22 (62.7%) +46.8 units (Best Bets, A, B,and C rated bet system) A bets went 4-0 last night.

Just curious if anyone has the research on a large number of these cappers.

Thanks, Lou
