1* Yale +5 over Harvard 7pm est
Yale gives Harvard fits when they play. Yale is 7-1 in the L8 ATS. That is when everyone is at full strength. Harvard right now is a team that is beat down physically and emotionally. Going into last week they had an Ivy title in their sights going into their match up with Cornell. Cornell blew the doors off of them. Then they lost to Princeton in their next game. They even let Penn hang around till the end before pulling away. The worst part for Harvard is that they lost 3 forwards to injury during those games. The strength of Yale is their ability to go inside on offense. The guards penetrate well and their big men get their offense off of that. Harvard will be mostly powerless to stop that. Harvard also becomes a perimeter shooting team with all those players lost. Their guards are good, but Yale can really focus on perimeter defense and will be able to slow them down. Yale might steal this game outright but I will take the points rather than go ML here.

Montana -1 over PORTLAND ST.

The answer to the age old question “can one win playing unbelievable offense and no defense” is undoubtedly answered by the failure of this Portland State team. In all my years of watching and handicapping the college game, I have never seen a team that was as prolific on offense as Portland State but literally the worst defensive team in the country at the same time. When a team shoots 39% from three-point range, 53.3% from two and 73.5% from the line chances are that team is on a special run. But that isn’t the case for Portland State, who sit at 10-13 even though their offensive statistics are those of a Final Four team. Instead, Portland State is on the wrong side of history on the defensive side of the ball – 347th out of 347 nationally in defensive efficiency, 344th in effective field goal percentage allowed, 344th in three point percentage allowed (42%), 335th in two point percentage allowed (54.3%) and 329th in offensive rebounds allowed. Unbelievably, Portland State has been victim of the highest free throw conversion rate against out of all D-1 teams, (76%) a truly fitting statistic to a historically bad defensive season. Montana is still fighting like heck to win the Big Sky and simply can’t afford to let this one get away. It’s going to come down to them and Weber State for that precious automatic bid and with the second best offense in the Big Sky Portland State simply won’t be able to stop them. It’s just so difficult to win a game when you basically have to score every trip down the floor and that’s why I’m picking the team that has shown it can do that. Portland State is a fascinating story but you’d have to be crazy to trust them in a pick em situation. Play: Montana –1 (Risking 2.08 units to win 2).

2/12 - 3* CBB Friday Night Blockbuster Blowout!! - Cornell Big Red
This is Sal Devito. For my 3* Friday Night Blockbuster Blowout I am playing on the Cornell Big Red to absolutely CRUSH the Pennsylvania Quakers. Cornell comes into this game boasting a solid 20-3 record and 6-0 Conference Record. Currently they are riding an 8 game win streak after losing to #1 Kansas on the road on 1/06, they are 19-1 their L 20 games. Their other 2 losses came against Syracuse and Seton Hall, both respectable programs. In road games that they won SU they are a perfect 7-0 ATS, with their loan road loss ATS coming vs Syracuse way back on 11/24. Cornell is 6-3 ATS against teams with losing records and 7-1 ATS vs Teams after holding their opponents to under 60pts previously. Cornell is 3-1 ATS when the total is between 130-139.5. Cornell has failed to cover in their L2 games the large -21 & -25 pt spreads which sets us up for a cover in which Cornell has covered every game after 2 straight non-covers this year. Cornell is averaging 76 PPG on the Road this year and Penn is averaging 61 PPG in home games. However we find that Cornell has held opponents to just 56.4 PPG their Last 13. Penn comes in w/ a terrible 3-15 record and a 4-9 ATS record. 3 of those 4 previously mentioned covers have come in their L3 games which I believe has influenced this line in Cornells favor and also sets us up for a Cornell cover tonight. In Penns last 3 home games they lost by 21, 19 and 15 (18.3 avg). For the first time in 59 years Cornell broke into the Top 25 with a 36pt Shellacking of Harvard last week. They are on the upswing and I expect a HUGE blowout tonight vs a team that can barely keep it together. Lay the wood. Best of Luck - Sal Devito

Matt Rivers of OffshoreInsiders.com has a free sports pick on Cornell minus the number. They are laying 17 points at University of Pennsylvania.

It’s not often that I would endorse laying such a number, no less doing so on the road, but this is just the mismatch of all mismatches and I just do not see Penn being able to stay competitive.

This current Cornell squad is probably the best team in the history of the Ivy League and that includes the Penn teams from the early to mid 90’s with Matt Maloney and current head coach Jerome Allen.

The Big Red have a great coach in Steve Donahue who just recently used to be the assistant at Penn before getting very wrongly passed over. I don’t see Donohue calling off the dogs and pulling the reigns in this thing. There has got to be some animosity and with the far more talented team, led by a stud in Ryan Wittman, Cornell is going to dominate.

Penn has regressed to the unbelievable point of being a doormat in the Ivy League. Just a few seasons ago these guys were still the class of the conference but it has been a steep drop-off in no time.

Meanwhile on the complete opposite extreme we have Cornell, which is a legitimate Top 25 team that was actually winning in the final minutes at Kansas about a month ago. The Big Red are 20-3 overall with losses only to Syracuse and Seton Hall early on and the Jayhawks back on January 6th.
Cornell has won eight straight games including obliterating Tommy Amaker’s solid Harvard squad just a week ago. This team is rolling and will have little resistance tonight.

double-dime bet 805 Dartmouth 6.5 (-110) SportBet vs 806 Brown
Analysis:

** CBB "MORNING MOVE" 2* BOOKIE BET **

This is a Bookie Bet that my own Ratings show to offer some excellent betting value...In fact, the bookie who passed this wager along, said that one of the sharps he books who does extremely well in Ivy League Action made this one of his biggest bets to date...And the fact that the Wiseguys forced the adjustment down from -7, all the way to -6...supports that claim...More importantly, the fact that the betting action from the public, which will be forced to bet these type of match-ups that they would otherwise pass on...is the only reason that we've since seen the squarer shops go back up to 6.5...giving us an even better number than I could have hoped for...Let's go ahead and follow this Bookie who actually is the same one who gave us our only other Morning Move "Bookie Bet" since launching...And see if he can go to 2-0 Overall..VR

Fairfield +1

For a number of different reasons I believe the value in this contest is on Fairfield:

Edwin Ubiles scored 18 points to lead Siena to a 69-67 win over Fairfield on Monday night.

A 6-0 run to end the first half gave the Saints a 36-28 lead at halftime. Fairfield cut the lead to one twice in the second half, but was never able to take the lead. The Stags trailed by five points with 6 seconds left, and Derek Needham hit a 3-pointer with 4 seconds remaining for the final score; I expect a rebound tonight.

Keep in mind that Fairfield is 4-2 ATS its last six overall and 7-2 ATS its last nine on the road.

On the other side of the court: Ryan Thompson scored 31 points and Rider defeated Niagara 70-62 on Monday night.

The Broncs (14-12, 7-7 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) trailed 37-23 at halftime after shooting 26.7 percent in the first half (8 of 30). However, Rider outscored the Purple Eagles 47-25 in the second half after a 56.7 percent effort from the field after halftime (17 of 30); I expect a letdown tonight.

It has to be pointed out that Rider is in fact a poor 1-6 ATS its last seven in front of the home town crowd.

Bottom line: Look for FAIRFIELD to improve to 3-1 ATS revenging a home loss vs. an opponent and for Rider to fall to 5-8 ATS this season when playing against a team with a winning record!

6* Fairfield
