This is actually a pretty intriguing matchup. Two teams with interim head coaches and two very different styles of play. Houston has shown improvement since going to Ward at QB, and he’s the style of signal caller that has given the Panthers trouble. On the other hand, Houston is small on the defensive side of the ball and they’ve had difficulty with really big opposing lines, which is exactly what Pitt has. My biggest concern here is turnovers. Houston is terrific at forcing them, and Pitt is not exactly the best ball security team around. So there is definitely some worry on that count, especially with so much down time since the last games for these teams. But bottom line is it’s a borderline Top 40 team against one that is barely Top 80 on my rankings. The math puts this at Pittsburgh -9, so I’m on the Panthers.
