Not many realize just how big a loss the injury to Dikembe Mutombo actually is. Having Yao Ming at 7'4" is one thing then to have to deal with his sub in the 7'1" Mutombo caused more problems. The drop of to the bench is now huge, because with a 6'7" backup now expect the Blazers to go after Ming in the middle and get to the foul line often enough to cause the Rockets fits. Take PORTLAND!

Yes, Detroit was blown out the first two games of this series at Cleveland. However, the Cavs are now 41-2 at home, the second-greatest home record in NBA history behind the 85-86 Celtics. Home teams down 2-0 in Game 3 are 9-3-1 ATS and 10-3 SU since the start of last season's playoffs, which includes Utah's two-point win over the Lakers last night. I'll take the points with the Pistons, and if they get squeezed, we still cover.

Dan Uggla is hitless in his last 21 at-bats and is batting .196 on the season. However, The second baseman has hit .344 (11-for-32) with three home runs against Brett Myers (1-1, 5.03), who gets the start for the Phillies on Friday. Myers is 1-4 with a 6.59 ERA in 11 starts and one relief appearance at Florida, and 6-10 with a 5.58 ERA in 22 starts and six relief appearances in his career versus the Marlins. The Phillies posted a 5.14 ERA last year against the Marlins, who won the season series 10-8. Even though Josh Johnson is 2-0 this season he got roughed up his last start giving up 6 ER in 6 innings. We do not suspect the powerful Phillies line-up will remain quite against rival Florida. Johnson is also 1-1 with a 7.79 ERA in three starts and one relief appearance at home versus the Phillies.

Scott Kazmir continues to have location problems which have led him to a 5.40 ERA after three starts, walking six in his last outing. The A's are a team built around on-base percentage. They will patiently wait him out, extending pitch counts for favorable hitting situations. The Rays have managed three runs or less in more than half their games already and have not gotten on track offensively yet. Trevor Cahill hasn't made a name for himself yet, but the top prospect has gotten off to an admirable start with a 2.60 ERA through three appearances. The A's are catching Kazmir and the Rays at the right time with a plus stuff pitcher on the hill. I will go with the A's here.
