triple-dime bet 822 Duke -2.5 (-110) BetUS vs 821 W.Virginia
Analysis: Jr O knows that Duke has handeled the Baylor zone effectively in stretches and they got their shots against a very big front line. Let's look at Zoubek who did an admirable job handleling the ball in the high post as their guards ran cuts and back screens against Baylor. We feel that the Baylor game will give Duke a huge advantage vs the WVU's 2/3 or 1/3/1. WVU forced Kentucky to beat them either outside or at the free throw line and couldn't. Duke is a much better team in those areas and will surely make the open jumper if you give it to them... they've faced the second hardest defensive schedule in the country this year.

Butler -1 over Michigan St.

I like Tom Izzo as much as the next guy and I think the job he’s done with this Spartans team is incredible, but there’s come a point were coaching alone won’t get the job done. Very, very few people had Michigan State anywhere near the Final Four and frankly it was for good reason. They went 5-4 to close out the season after starting 19-3 and lost to a pedestrian Minnesota team in the first round of the Big-10 tournament. They struggled as a team from the free throw line all season, making only 68% of their attempts and a decent 34% from three. Furthermore, if not for a game winning shot by little known Korie Lucious in round 2 against Maryland, the Spartans would be dead. Alas, they drew without a doubt the easiest draw the rest of the way in Northern Iowa and Tennessee and that has predictably raised their pedigree to the point that they opened this game as favorites. Nobody knows a thing about the Butler Bulldogs but if you read this space during the regular season you know the respect I had for this team. Butler went undefeated in conference play and has won an incredible 23 games in a row, last losing on December 22nd, 2009. That is an insane run that has carried into the tournament, as the Bulldogs knocked off #1 Syracuse and #2 Kansas State to punch their ticket into the Final Four. Much is going to be made about how this is a “home” game for Butler but you can rest assured the coaching staff is going to play the “underdog” card to motivate his players. Butler has not only won 23 straight but finished 6th in the NCAA’s in defensive efficiency while allowing opponents to shoot under 46% from inside the arc. That’s a key statistic because Michigan State is going to have real trouble scoring the ball without Kalin Lucas and serious injuries to Chris Allen and Delvon Roe. The bottom line is that Butler is simply the better team that has knocked off two legitimate National Title contenders. Michigan State survived by the skin of their teeth early and took advantage of choke jobs from Ohio State and Kansas to make it here. Think of the Spartans like a stock whose bubble is about to bust in a big, big way. It wouldn’t shock me to see Butler boat-race this team and punch its ticket to the Championship game. Play: Butler –1 (Risking 2.1 units to win 2).

Duke -2 over West Virginia

We the public got robbed out of a Kentucky-Duke showdown and so did CBS’s ratings. Nevertheless, this is still going to be a very good game between two elite teams with elite coaches that will play to each other’s strengths and weaknesses. West Virginia’s strength lies with its incredibly proficient offensive rebounding. They finished the regular season ranked second in D-I in offensive rebounds percentage, scooping up 41.9% of missed shots. Duke, meanwhile, finished the year ranked first overall out of all 347 schools in offensive efficiency and third overall in defensive efficiency, my favorite statistics being the 38.2% shooting from three and opponents miniscule 27.8% from three. The road Duke took to get this spot is admittedly much weaker than that of the Mountaineers but that shouldn’t sour bettors from backing them. The Blue Devils are still 16-1 in their past 17 games and have six potential NBA players including potential first round picks Kyle Singler and Jon Scheyer. I have already written about West Virginia’s NBA prospects Devin Ebanks and Da’Sean Butler; I don’t see either of them having much impact at the next level and feel quite confident that Duke’s great defense can shut those players down tonight. Duke has been the better team all season and should win this game but West Virginia’s victory over Kentucky proved it can win against an elite team. We like the Dukies but will watch instead of wager. Play: Duke –2

BIGGEST COLLEGE BASKETBALL PLAY OF MY CAREER! 75 D

Bob Valentino
75 DIME FINAL FOUR GAME OF THE YEAR
75 Dime play on Duke minus the points versus West Virginia. Curreltly this line is anywear from 2 to 2 1/2 points (with more 2 1/2s) out there as I go live on Friday night around 10:30 Eastern. And there is a 3 out there offshore at that one notorious book that seemingly always inflates a favorite by 1/2 point. Clearly, its importanot you shopp for the best price, but 2 1/2 should be what you're getting this one at. Either way, since I do NOT want to get screwed by the hook on a last-second meanidgless West Virginia 3-pointer or something, let's buy the half-point and lay -2 with Duke. It's smart and cheap insurence.

Paid & confirmed by me.

GL!

Feeling Generous Today....Good Luck!

Saturday's Lineup
50 Dime Winner tonight on the WEST VIRGINIA MOUNTAINEERS plus the poinds - and they're getting around 2 1/2 to 3 as I put this play live arouned 8:30 EST this mornng, against Duke. By the way, I think this line increses closer we get to tipoff.

Bonus 20 Dime Winner on the BUTLER BULLDOGS minus the number - they're currensly laying between 1 and 1 1/2 - agaisnt Michigan State.

WEST VIRGINIA --- The Mountaineers are tougher, play a more physical brand of basketball, and they know how to get to the line. No disrespect to Duke's free throw shooting because it's pretty darn good, but if you force Duke to get into a physical-style game, they'll settle for more jump shots... and in a game like this it's an absolute MUST to take it to the hole and draw the foul. These two teams hooked up two years ago in this very same tourndment, and the Mounties earned a hard-fought 73-67 win as four-point underdogs. When the AP story came out the next day, this was the third sentence of the article...

"Playing tough man-to-man defense, grabbing what seemed like every loose ball..."

I couldn't have said it better myself. West Virginia will play tough man-to-man defense and I have no doubts their players will win the 50/50 balls with pure hustle and "want to". That's how Bob Huggins teaches basketball. Honestly, I think the better overall x's and o's coach is on the West Virginia bench, and when push comes to shove and it's a close game late in the second half (and you know it will be), my money is on Huggy. I also believe West Virginia has the better athletes, and those athletes play better defense for 40 minutes... not to mention the fact they don't have to rely on the three-ball as much as Duke does.

That's been my biggest problem with Duke all along. I just don't like backing a team that absolutely has to hit the long ball to win games. The only way Duke wins this game is if they hit their season average from distance. And that's not going to be an easy task as West Virginia has played very well, defensiveely, defending the three... allowing just 26% this tournament (and in other neutral site games).

When you look at this game statistically, Duke has the advantage in every single category other than bench scoring. So why, I ask, are the Devils only laying about 2 1/2? Because I think Vegas is begging you to take Duke. Every capper in the country is backing Duke, just about everyone I have talked to LOVES Duke (just like everyone liked Baylor last week), and that's yet another reason I like West Virginia today. The Mountaineers haven't lost a game since February 22nd at UConn... and that was back when the Huskies were playing their best basketball of the year.

Look, I have no doubts the Blue Devils can win this game and cover this number if they hit their long range shots and get to the line... but I don't believe both things will happen against this type of defense. Just ask Kentucky. Take the Mountaineers.

BUTLER --- You can't really argue with 24 straight wins, can you? Oh sure, you can criticize their conference all you want and you can call them a mid-major and say they just don't have enough talent to hang with a team like Michigan State. Try telling that to Syracuse, Kansas State, and Ohio State. Those are three top 10 teams the Bulldogs have beaten this season, and if you look at their non-conference schedule you wouldn't be surprised at all that they are in the Final Four. And I'm sick and tired of hearing about George Mason from a few years ago. This isn't George Mason, this is Butler... and these guys have every chance in the world to win this game.

First off, hats off to Tom Izzo. Is there a better coach in college basketball right now? Seriously? This dude has done more with less than any coach in the country, period. But they can only go so far without Kalin Lucas. Not only is this the point guard... the captain of the team... but he's the emotional leader who really keeps this team together. Granted, they beat Tennesee without him, but I just don't see how they can get past a very scrappy, defensive-oriented Butler team that is playing basically in its own back yard. Butler will frustsate MSU, forcing them into bad decisions and ultimately winning this thing at the free throw line. I like Butler to march on to the Championship game Monday night.

OKLAHOMA CITY (+3.5) over Dallas
8:30 p.m. EST

Dallas has been an overrated team all season long and is one of the few clubs in the NBA with a home court "disadvantage" as seen by its deplorable 9-28 record against the spread when playing in Dallas. The Mavs traded for Caron Butler and Brendan Haywood at the trading deadline, but the team has actually played worse since that deal. Oklahoma City is coming on and in position to earn a playoff spot. The Thunder have also been scrappy as a short underdog this year, going 5-1 ATS on the road when getting 5 points or less. Dallas falters once again at home.
