Washington (CNN)A Texas elector said Monday that enough is enough -- he will not cast his vote for President-elect Donald Trump as part of the Electoral College process on December 19.

Christopher Suprun, a paramedic from Texas who served as a firefighter during the Sept. 11 attacks, wrote in an editorial published in The New York Times that even though he is a Republican elector, he will not vote for Trump.

What is the Electoral College? 02:05

Suprun will cast his vote along with the other electors (538 in total) from every state and the District of Columbia on December 19 as part of the Electoral College process.
"Fifteen years ago, I swore an oath to defend my country and Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic," he wrote. "On Dec. 19, I will do it again."
Suprun ends the editorial by saying that the electors still have a chance to unify behind a Republican alternative such as Ohio Gov. John Kasich.
Along with Suprun, 36 other electors planning to vote for Trump would have to abandon their vote for him -- which is almost beyond the realm of possibility. Even if Suprun doesn't cast his vote for Trump, Trump is headed toward the 270 votes he needs to become president in January.
In the editorial Suprun explained that he believes Trump has shown he's not qualified for the Oval Office. He wrote that the last time the nation was united was after the Sept. 11 attacks, while Trump has failed "to unite America" and drove "a wedge between us."
"He does not encourage civil discourse, but chooses to stoke fear and create outrage," Suprun wrote in the editorial.
Joe Biden leaves the door open for a 2020 run
Suprun added that Trump's actions, such as saying "Russia should hack Hillary Clinton's emails" and urging "violence against protesters at his rallies during the campaign" show that he is not qualified to be president.
He also wrote about how the advisers Trump surrounds himself with, including retired Lt. Gen. Michael T. Flynn for National Security Adviser and Steve Bannon, a former Breitbart executive named to a senior adviser position, are not positive influences on him.
"He has surrounded himself with advisers such as Stephen K. Bannon, who claims to be a Leninist and lauds villains and their thirst for power, including Darth Vader," he wrote. "Gen. Michael T. Flynn, Mr. Trump's pick for national security adviser, has his own checkered past about rules."

Why I Will Not Cast My Electoral Vote for Donald Trump

Opinion
|Op-Ed Contributor

Mike McQuadeBy CHRISTOPHER SUPRUN
December 5, 2016

DALLAS — I am a Republican presidential elector, one of the 538 people asked to choose officially the president of the United States. Since the election, people have asked me to change my vote based on policy disagreements with Donald J. Trump. In some cases, they cite the popular vote difference. I do not think president-elects should be disqualified for policy disagreements. I do not think they should be disqualified because they won the Electoral College instead of the popular vote. However, now I am asked to cast a vote on Dec. 19 for someone who shows daily he is not qualified for the office.
Fifteen years ago, as a firefighter, I was part of the response to the Sept. 11 attacks against our nation. That attack and this year’s election may seem unrelated, but for me the relationship becomes clearer every day.
George W. Bush is an imperfect man, but he led us through the tragic days following the attacks. His leadership showed that America was a great nation. That was also the last time I remember the nation united. I watch Mr. Trump fail to unite America and drive a wedge between us.
Mr. Trump goes out of his way to attack the cast of “Saturday Night Live” for bias. He tweets day and night, but waited two days to offer sympathy to the Ohio State community after an attack there. He does not encourage civil discourse, but chooses to stoke fear and create outrage.
ADVERTISEMENTThis is unacceptable. For me, America is that shining city on a hill that Ronald Reagan envisioned. It has problems. It has challenges. These can be met and overcome just as our nation overcame Sept. 11.
The United States was set up as a republic. Alexander Hamilton provided a blueprint for states’ votes. Federalist 68 argued that an Electoral College should determine if candidates are qualified, not engaged in demagogy, and independent from foreign influence. Mr. Trump shows us again and again that he does not meet these standards. Given his own public statements, it isn’t clear how the Electoral College can ignore these issues, and so it should reject him.
I have poured countless hours into serving the party of Lincoln and electing its candidates. I will pour many more into being more faithful to my party than some in its leadership. But I owe no debt to a party. I owe a debt to my children to leave them a nation they can trust.
Mr. Trump lacks the foreign policy experience and demeanor needed to be commander in chief. During the campaign more than 50 Republican former national security officials and foreign policy experts co-signed a letter opposing him. In their words, “he would be a dangerous president.” During the campaign Mr. Trump even said Russia should hack Hillary Clinton’s emails. This encouragement of an illegal act has troubled many members of Congress and troubles me.
Hamilton also reminded us that a president cannot be a demagogue. Mr. Trump urged violence against protesters at his rallies during the campaign. He speaks of retribution against his critics. He has surrounded himself with advisers such as Stephen K. Bannon, who claims to be a Leninist and lauds villains and their thirst for power, including Darth Vader. “Rogue One,” the latest “Star Wars” installment, arrives later this month. I am not taking my children to see it to celebrate evil, but to show them that light can overcome it.
Gen. Michael T. Flynn, Mr. Trump’s pick for national security adviser, has his own checkered past about rules. He installed a secret internet connection in his Pentagon office despite rules to the contrary. Sound familiar?
Finally, Mr. Trump does not understand that the Constitution expressly forbids a president to receive payments or gifts from foreign governments. We have reports that Mr. Trump’s organization has business dealings in Argentina, Bahrain, Taiwan and elsewhere. Mr. Trump could be impeached in his first year given his dismissive responses to financial conflicts of interest. He has played fast and loose with the law for years. He may have violated the Cuban embargo, and there are reports of improprieties involving his foundation and actions he took against minority tenants in New York. Mr. Trump still seems to think that pattern of behavior can continue.
The election of the next president is not yet a done deal. Electors of conscience can still do the right thing for the good of the country. Presidential electors have the legal right and a constitutional duty to vote their conscience. I believe electors should unify behind a Republican alternative, an honorable and qualified man or woman such as Gov. John Kasich of Ohio. I pray my fellow electors will do their job and join with me in discovering who that person should be.
Fifteen years ago, I swore an oath to defend my country and Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. On Dec. 19, I will do it again.

[h=1]US Productivity Suffers First Two-Quarter Annual Decline Since 1993[/h]US Productivity rose a disappointing 3.1% in Q3 (missing expectations of a 3.3% rise). However, on a year-over-year basis, Q3 saw a second consecutive decline - the first two-quarter decline in US productivity since 1993. Unit labor cost growth slowed in Q3 to 3.00% (with QoQ growth tumbling from 6.2% in Q2 to just 0.7% in Q3).
Actually if one looks at the official table US productivity has notr risen YoY since Q4 2015 - (Q1 0.0%, Q2 -0.3%, Q3 -0.05%)

But, as Fed-induced investment in buybacks crowds out capex, real-worker productivity is collapsing (but buy back productivity is soaring!!).

* * *
How can this be?? The mainstream media 'economists' are stunned. As we explained previously, there are a few reasons... Even Alan Greenspan has warned that America is "in trouble basically because productivity is dead in the water..." There are numerous reasons for this plunge in worker-productivity, from perverted inventives not to work to unintended consequences of monetary policy enabling zombies, but perhaps the most critical driver is exposed in the following dismal chart...
51% of total time spent on the Internet is on mobile devices - in 2015, first time ever mobile is #1 - to make a total of 5.6 hours per day snapchatting, face-booking, and selfying...

Source: @kpcb
So, while every effort can be made by Ivory Tower academics to solve the problem of American worker productivity, perhaps it can be summed up simply as "Put The Smart-Phone Down!"
As we detailed previously, adjusting for the WWII anomaly (which tells us that GDP is not a good measure of a country’s prosperity) US productivity growth peaked in 1972 – incidentally the year after Nixon took the US off gold.

The productivity decline witnessed ever since is unprecedented. Despite the short lived boom of the 1990s US productivity growth only average 1.2 per cent from 1975 up to today. If we isolate the last 15 years US productivity growth is on par with what an agrarian slave economy was able to achieve 200 years ago.
In addition, the last 15 years also saw an outsized contribution to GDP from finance. If we look at the US GDP by contribution from value added by industry we clearly see how finance stands out in what would otherwise have been an impressively diversified economy.

With hindsight we know that finance did more harm than good so we can conservatively deduct finance from the GDP calculations and by doing so we essentially end up with no growth per capita at all over a timespan of more than 15 years! US real GDP per capita less contribution from finance increased by an annual average of 0.3 per cent from 2000 to 2015. From 2008 the annual average has been negative 0.5 per cent!
In other words, we have seen a progressive (pun intended) weakening of the US economy from the 1970s and the reason is simple enough when we know that monetary policy broken down to its most basic is a transaction of nothing (fiat money) for something (real production of goods and services). Modern monetary policy thereby violates the most sacred principle in a market based economy; namely that production creates its own demand. Only through previous production, either your own or borrowed, can one express true purchasing power on the market place.
The central bank does not need to worry about such trivial things. They can manufacture the medium of exchange at zero cost and express purchasing power on the same level as the producer. However, consumption of real goods and services paid for with zero cost money must by definition be pure capital consumption.
Do this on a grand scale, over a long period of time, even a capital rich economy as the US will eventually be depleted. Capital per worker falls relative to competitors abroad, cost goes up and competitiveness falls (think rust-belt). Productive structures cannot be properly funded and the economy must regress to align funding with its level of specialization.
In its final stage, investment give way for speculation, and suddenly finance is the most important industry, pulling the best and brightest away from every corner of the globe, just to find more ingenious ways to maximise capital consumption.
As the slave economy got perverted by incentives not to work, so does the speculative fiat based economy, which consequently create debt serfs on a grand scale.

I don't have a problem with twitter itself I have a problem with how our to be president is using it.. say stuf with recognition that words matter and everybody (the entire world) is watching you.. not some nobody like me ranting in a tiny corner of the internet mainly only to himself lol

Saying things that are in conflict with well established Supreme Court decisions

whining about trivial things like SNL skits and media coverage.. every president gets bashed duh! That's the job you signed up for you crybaby.. start acting like a president .. we need a strong leader not someone that will cry to momma/Twitter cry when somebody doesn't say something nice about you..

[h=1]General Flynn’s son kicked off Trump team for conspiracy tweets | New York Post[/h]By Bob Fredericks

Michael Flynn Jr., the conspiracy theory-loving son of Donald Trump’s national security adviser, got bounced from the president-elect’s transition team Tuesday over his bizarre tweets about “Pizzagate.”
Under the “theory” pushed by Alex Jones and other members of the so-called “alt-right,” Hillary Clinton and aide John Podesta are linked to a child sex ring based in a Washington, DC, pizza restaurant.
“The younger Michael Flynn was helping his father with some administration and scheduling duties early on in the transition process and he is no longer involved with transition efforts,” Trump spokesman Jason Miller told Politico.

Earlier in the day, Vice President-elect Mike Pence said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that Flynn Jr. had “no involvement in the transition whatsoever.”
But CNN revealed Monday that the younger Flynn had an official .gov email address.
And Foreign Policy magazine also reported that Flynn “assisted in personnel vetting, managing his father’s schedule, and fielding transition-related emails for the general.”

On Twitter, Flynn Jr. suggested that “Pizzagate” was true.
“Until #Pizzagate proven to be false, it’ll remain a story. The left seems to forget #PodestaEmails and the many ‘coincidences’ tied to it,” he wrote on Sunday after demented gunman Edgar Maddison Welch, 28, was busted for going to the pizzeria to “self investigate” the crackpot theory.
Welch, a North Carolinian, fire his AR-15 rifle inside the eatery, though no one was hurt.
Flynn Jr. then retweeted a new theory arguing that Welch was an actor hired to discredit “Pizzagate“ theorists — reminiscent of another Jones canard that argued that the Sandy Hook school shootings were a hoax staged by government-trained actors.
It wasn’t the first time Flynn Jr. took to Twitter to promote half-baked conspiracy theories or defend Jones, a huge Trump supporter whose website Infowars gives a platform for a variety of conspiracy theories.
“AMEN! I’ll always support @infowars @Rambobiggs @RealAlexJones @PrisonPlanet,” he wrote on Nov. 17, referring to other alt-right sites.

Tough to say how much $ Trump has. All of his $ seems to come from licensing/branding so who knows what ownership stakes he has. I've always assumed given his lifestyle, kids, divorces that he is probably worth atleast somewhere in the ballpark of what the publications say.

I think it is safe to say he is going to leave office worth a lot more than he came in with though.

[h=1]Trump's Boeing attack follows article with CEO's pro-trade argument[/h]Jacob Pramuk | @jacobpramuk

Donald Trump's Tuesday morning criticism of Boeing closely followed the publication of a story in which the aerospace giant's CEO expressed concerns about the trade agenda Trump has backed.
The Chicago Tribune published a column Tuesday morning which included Boeing CEO Dennis Muilenburg's recent comments arguing that free trade is a crucial part of the U.S. economy. Boeing has a lucrative jet business in China.
Muilenburg expressed concerns about resistance to trade, which is partly driven by Trump repeatedly slamming the Trans-Pacific Partnership and North American Free Trade Agreement. Trump appealed to many blue-collar voters by saying those deals cost Americans jobs and depressed their wages.
Only 22 minutes after the article published, Trump threatened on Twitter to "cancel" Boeing's contract for new Air Force One jets, arguing that an unconfirmed $4 billion cost was too high for the project.
There is no clear indication that the Tribune story, or another Washington Post article about Pentagon waste, specifically prompted Trump's attack. Still, he has used his favorite social media platform repeatedly in the past to respond to coverage he views as unfavorable.
For instance, Trump has used Twitter to criticize coverage from The New York Times and CNN, among other outlets.
Trump's tweet moved markets, as Boeing shares fell as much as 1 percent Tuesday before recovering.
The Trump transition team did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

What I've always found weird is the fine line between liberty and fascism..

ron paul attracted a lot of these "alt right" white power types but at the same he and I are very against many things being pushed now by this "non establishment" (I'd argue it's pro establishment aka pro divide and conquer) movement like military industrial complex, pro constitution/Supreme Court would never say stuff trump said about flag burning, of course trump no longer talking about fed anymore now that elected, also the debt problem Ron Paul on opposite extreme and would never take a deficits don't matter when it's convenient stuff trump and bannon pushumg now..

Maybe I'm just naive or haven't thought of it enough but I can't really say that is a concern for me. Atleast not yet.

Whoever won was going to continue interventionist policies throughout the world (besides maybe Rand), maybe Trump won't? He has spoken before how he thinks nation building in these hellholes is a disaster. We'll see what happens.

Main reason I don't like him is because he is just in way over his head and because he is a big gov't fiscal liberal who thinks government has the answers. But I can't say I've really been alarmed by any of his twitter rhetoric or anything. If it continues when he is in office I'd change tune on that.

As far as like not standing with NATO allies, I just see that as campaign red meat to globalization skeptic Americans.

And again, I can't stand this guy but he does remind me of Nixon in the sense of foreign policy unpredictability. Willing to challenge China or Russia on their BS. Nixon made the argument that the US had gotten too complacent and predictable in foreign policy dealings and that we needed a departure from the status quo. Certainly the results of that stance can be debated, but I think it has some merit.

I'm likely over reacting but I'm watching this guy like a hawk my radar just sending off mega fascist signals.. and regardless of what he can really do as far as spreading fascism goes..he is very pro establishment in my mind as it is guaranteed he will push our country further into the divide and conquer hole.. divide and conquer the number one policy position of the establishment.. let the idiots fight amongst themselves as we grab control of everything..

Spencer: "This country does belong to white people -- culturally, socially and politically."

Spencer: "Texas is a wonderful place to live and there are a lot of white men's bones in the ground to make that happen."

And a lot of black bones you idiot..

Spencer: "America at the end of the day belongs to white men."

think what pisses me off the most about this shit is the nazis and alt right co opting the liberty movement..

our window to save this country is likely over.. Ron Paul is only guy I probably will ever actively campaign for .. rand tries to hard to play nice and got him nowhere.. I tried it's hopeless now..

in the end I'm likely wasting my breath just the "natural" cycle of mankind and nothing I can do about it but scream into the wall about it .. all empires will eventually collapse as they get to big and corrupt.. no stopping it from happening in the US..

Think I finally talked through what is really bugging me about this trump shit.. lol

i see 2008 as the beginning of this "anti-establishment" movement where ron helped kick started this pro liberty F the big government beuracrats that are flushing us down the drain way of thinking.. from there it got co opted by the tea party.. and the end result was Donald trump who is polar opposite of Ron on a lot of key issues .. and Donald is clearly a pro establishment candidate to my eyes if you dig beneath the surface ...
