Apple is facing stiff competition from SamSung. Personally, I didn't think anyone could catch up with Apple. Samsung surprised me.

Also, Apple releases new model every six months strategy starting to backfire as consumers just hold on to the phones a bit longer, even after 2-yrs contract expires.

most of the ad ins with new models are pretty much meaningless to the average user at this point

their high margins are unsustainable in the long term unless they find a way to stay well ahead of the competition as was the case in the early PC days

And I just don't see how they can without jobs the dictator at the helm

its like anything in the tech world evolve or die .... Making the same product to model number infinity adding marginal value to the product ain't homna cut i

I never like tech stocks myself. The competition will either catch up by ripping the features off or finds a way to make it cheaper.

Yeah Generally speaking average long term investors should stay away from tech stocks (many get involve indirectly via mutual funds) ... Stick with boring stuff tht mankind needs regardless of hats going on ... Food, energy, consumer goods etc

They a scam overall as far as little guy concerned ... Most of money made prior to going public by venture capitalists and such and then they distribute their paper to the masses with the help of the financial press hyping them .... See fascbook, tech bubble etc

I smell some blood. The robot army needs a reason to short the market, they could get their wish if their DC buddies let the fiscal mess to fall off the cliff.

Start to slowly cut the massive government support that is propping shit up only for the good of the mega rich as wages/GDP continue to spiral down ...

Or wait till later when things will be much worse

Which they gonna do

Not a whole lot else to say at this point chop

Can only repeat myself for so long

Long term it's a slow motion depression irregardless of the digits on wall street

Just wait till a recession comes ... It hits the psyche of the masses .... And the fed is powerless to do anything at the zero bounds and government debting rate can't go any higher ... Then it gets real :)

Big picture the grand Keynesian experiment is failing as the Austrians been saying it would for a long time

Yeah the government intervention creating bubbles wwhen downturns come can work for a while but eventually it fails miserably as we are slowly but surely observing .. With each and every intervention more long term issues/imbalances arise an eventually reach a point where nothing can put humpty dumpty back together again other than pain (we should have taken our doses of pain rather than concentrate it for later down the road) and time

Intrade was just being stupid they put up contracts involving gold oil and such like morons

-------------

The CFTC alleges Intrade was facilitating off-exchange options trading among U.S. customers, as well as making false statements to that regard. The CFTC also says it regards the buying and selling of commodity options as subject to requirements that the site register as a commodities exchange.
For its part, Intrade says “this in no way signals the end of Intrade in the U.S. In the near future we’ll announce plans for a new exchange model that will allow legal participation from all jurisdictions - including the U.S. We believe this new model will further enhance Intrade’s position as the leading prediction market platform for real time probabilities about future events.”
Intrade operates with real money, but it’s primary currency is information — and by asking for a commitment of real money, is able to provide a glimpse into trends before they even happen. Predictions markets have grown to be a valuable information source for business leaders.
The question is: even if or when Intrade works things out out with the agency — will this open the door to actions against other prediction markets, or other forms of crowdsourcing in which there is financial compensation? Will this put a chill on crowdsourced collective wisdom?
