I can see it all coming....The battle of the Conferences: Saturday, January 19, 2022, Kick-Off 1:p.m. The Big-30 Conference vs the Pac-28-. Game being played at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx (NY). TV-ESPN. Weather-Light now-Temp at kick-off (-15) Wind NNE at 21 gusting to 35. RH-69. Betting line- The Big-30 (-3-15) O/U- 107-even. ML -145-

When this all happens, we'll sure-in-hell know who the best Conference in the Land is then by golly. Until then (sigh), we'll have to settle for who the best team (King-of the Hill) is which is fine by me. Conferences ? They are now being set-up to satisfy the lust for money and power via TV, choreographed by the real powers of college football, the Charlatans who will eventually destroy the game we once knew and loved.

Footnote: This year the winner of [it] all is going to be either Ohio State or Oregon (brilliant) who plays in the Big-14/Pac-12 conferences respectively. The fact is, BOTH of those teams earned the right to seek that distinction, a NC.......on the Gridiron.

their run is far from over, i love how people overreact to everything

They are still a great conference...........That said, the SEC West deserves to get bashed more than the SEC itself as they were being touted as the greatest division ever for a chunk of the season....

It becomes easy to start believing your own press-clippings.

here's who the top 6 SEC West teams played before conference play got rolling for everyone and around the country (note that at least two SEC West teams started the season with SEC games... therefore, that's why i say when conference play got rolling)..

SoMiss (2x)
UAB
SAla
SJSU
KState
LT
Boise
WV
FAU
LLA
Memphis
Wisc
Sam Houston
LM
NMS
Nichols State
TT
NIllinois
TAM

so not that weak.... not that miss state, one team that completely imploded had a real creampuff warm up to conf play (sala, somiss, uab)

Not weak....hell, don't see a bowl team in the bunch!!! <grin> Any of you play in the SEC??? NOW, next question.

Five different teams in the SEC won at least one BCS championship in the last 15 years. Florida and Tennessee in the East and Bama, LSU and Auburn in the West. I don't think any other conference has even approached that kind of depth. As long as the SEC schools are bringing in the money they now are, they may not be as dominant but they will be in the mix more years than not IMO.

The "conference" debate sure heats-up the "air-waves. The teams that play in a conference (is Notre Dame the only Independent left ?)play-each other resulting in winners and losers with a path of bloodshed and carnage left in the wake. The argument (which conference is best), will never be won or lost, just endlessly debated.....every year.

Boise won the MWC
Memphis won the AAC
NIU won the MAC
Wisky played in the B1G title game
K State was 3rd in the big 12 and finished the regular season ranked 11th

SEC west teams won all of these games as well in the regular season

Agreed whole-heartedly, but the fact remains, and someone rhetorically asked this question several days ago, "how many titles has the SEC won in the last 10 years?" The answer is all but Texas' win in '05 and Florida State's win last year. So there is no debate, unless you're a penny stock player I guess. GLTA

ND is no longer an independent. They are in the ACC.

interesting someone mentioned the SEC's DLINE... i read the book about ed orgeron at ole miss (meat market?) and he was just obsessed with DLine. i know it is somewhat his functional coaching area but i think he really thought that's what sets apart southeast USA (read huge black football playing population) from other pretty big football areas.

seems to me that DLINE, OLINE and QB is where your real difference makers talent-wise are these days... soooo many 6 foot 2 190 to 230 LB athletic (black) guys graduate from high school each year. not true for 300 LB'ers and esp. athletic ones.

interesting comments that modern offenses have negated the premier offensive lines.

my bad, sadly you cant tell the difference on here

No offense taken, I thought you were, but like you said, tough to tell on the net. Great stats ya put up, just goes to show, at the top of the heap, any team can beat another on any given day. Kinda like the NoFunLeague.

BTW, i'm the one who posted the SEC West power list of non-confernce early games. i thought it was pretty good list other than Miss State.. so i do think sagarin's power ratings were reasonable. it is weird that when they lose to each other they don't drop that much.

Thanks for the heads-up It56...I lost track....Having one of my many "senior" moments I guess

actually, you and rivercitybirdie are correct. my bad. they are in acc for hoops already, but this was the last year as an independent for football. they are starting the acc football next year. once again, my bad.

Notre Dame isn't actually going to be "in" the ACC for football. It's not like they get lined up in one of the divisions. Look at it more like scheduling a block of teams. Up to 5 ACC teams per year that rotates, so they aren't even playing the same teams two years in a row. 12 year deal. Still an Independent.

i guess you are right and by saying this, it would down grade the win by Ohio St, if the SEC is down
