ANALYSIS: North Texas allows 55.8 points per game, second-best in the nation behind Houston, which allows 55.4. UNT is second in C-USA at 13-3, one game behind Florida Atlantic, which just had a long win streak snapped. The Mean Green have won seven straight (6-1 ATS) and have covered in their last five. UNT also has been stellar on the road at 12-3 -– great defense always travels well. UTEP is 1-6 SU and ATS in its past seven. I’m on North Texas to cover.

ANALYSIS: The Rangers are playing as we speak/type in Edmonton on Friday night, and there may be no harder double in the NHL than dealing with the high-flying Oilers and 24 hours later completing the Alberta Swing in Calgary. There's always the injury factor for New York tonight as well.

ANALYSIS: Here's another lookahead line I like for Saturday. Why are the Sabres, who are 16-8-2 on the road, this short of favorites against San Jose, which is 5-13-7 at home and in tank mode? I don't have an answer because there are no major injuries. Buffalo is the only motivated team as well as it chases a Wild Card spot.

ANALYSIS: Big price but the Isles host Pittsburgh tonight (Friday) and then have to travel (albeit not far) and turn around and play the NHL's best team about 19 hours later. Tough. Boston also will get top-six forward Jake DeBrusk back from long-term injured reserve. He had 16 goals and 14 assists in 36 games before going down.

ANALYSIS: Going to play this Saturday Stadium Series game from NC State's football stadium now -- I often tell people I like to wait until the last minute to wager and that's true for pretty much every sport but hockey because in the NHL you often can save 50 cents or more jumping on something early. Not saying that will be the case here, but I do think this tops -200 by tomorrow. The Caps simply aren't the same team without Alex Ovechkin (0-3 this year), who remains out after the death of his father. Another top-six forward, Marcus Johansson (28 points), was hurt in Thursday's loss.
