Saturday's NHL Stanley Cup Final Game 3 Betting Preview: Penguins at Predators

Music City has been a safe haven for the Predators, who are 7-1 in these playoffs at Bridgestone Arena and winners of 11 of their past 12 playoff contests.

Pittsburgh Penguins at Nashville Predators (-135, 5.5)

Pens lead series 2-0

Home cookin' traditionally provides a bountiful feast for the Nashville Predators, who hope the change of scenery goes a long way in altering results when they host the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final. Music City has been a safe haven for the Predators, who are 7-1 in these playoffs at Bridgestone Arena and winners of 11 of their past 12 playoff contests.

Nashville defenseman P.K. Subban is confident that victory will be on the menu Saturday, providing what is tantamount to a guarantee as well as bulletin-board material for his opponent. "There's no question. We're going to win the next game, and then we'll move forward," said the outspoken Subban, who has seen his team outshoot the Penguins 64-39 -- only to be outscored 9-4 in losing the first two contests of the best-of-seven series. Jake Guentzel has been responsible for both game-winning goals of the series, scoring with 3:17 remaining in Game 1 and setting an NHL rookie record for a playoff year with his fifth such tally in Wednesday's 4-1 victory. The 2-0 series lead is a familiar one for Pittsburgh, which also claimed that advantage last year before skating past San Jose in six games to capture its fourth Stanley Cup in franchise history.

Stanley Cup Final Game 3 Betting Preview: Penguins at Predators
The Penguins will look to take a commanding 3-0 series in Game 3 Saturday night, but they'll have to contend with a rowdy Nashville crowd as the Predators host their first Stanley Cup final game in franchise history.

LINE HISTORY: The Predators may be down 2-0 in the Stanley Cup final, but they will enter game three as the betting favorites at the sportsbooks. The Preds opened at -140 on the moneyline and that number has come down slightly to -135. The total hit the betting board at 5.5. Check out the complete line history here.

GOALIE MATCHUP: Matt Murray (PIT) vs. Pekka Rinne (NAS)

Murray - GP: 7, W/L: 5-1, 1.54 GAA, .943 SAVE %, 1 SO
Rinne - GP: 18, W/L: 12-6, 1.98 GAA, .929 SAVE %, 2 SO

INJURY REPORT:

Penguins - C N. Bonino (Questionable, lower body), RW T. Kuhnhackl (Questionable, lower body), D C. Ruhwedel (Questionable, concussion), D K. Letang (Out for season, neck).

Predators - LW C. Wilson (Doubtful, undisclosed), C R. Johansen (Out For Season, thigh), LW K. Fiala (Out For Season, leg).

ABOUT THE PENGUINS (64-26-8-5, 56-40 O/U): While the 22-year-old Guentzel leads the league in goals (12), fellow forward Evgeni Malkin added to his advantage in points (26) by scoring a goal in his second straight contest Wednesday to send beleaguered Pekka Rinne to the showers. The 2012 Hart Trophy winner has recorded six points (three goals, three assists) in his past five games. Chris Kunitz is doing quite well in his own right by matching a career high with three straight multi-point performances in the playoffs, during which he has collected two goals and five assists.

ABOUT THE PREDATORS (53-34-9-4, 45-43 O/U): Although coach Peter Laviolette "politely" reiterated Friday that he and his coaching staff do not publicly discuss lineup changes, Rinne likely will be in net for Game 3 despite being shredded for eight goals on 36 shots in the first two contests. The three-time Vezina Trophy finalist has permitted just 13 tallies en route to winning seven of eight playoff games at Bridgestone Arena to go along with a 1.54 goals-against average and .947 save percentage. "It's going to be a tremendous lift," Laviolette said of playing at home. "I think the playoffs, everything ratchets up and becomes even better, a more explosive environment."

TRENDS:

* Penguins are 8-2 in their last 10 Stanley Cup Final games.
* Predators are 0-5 in their last 5 vs. Eastern Conference.
* Under is 9-2 in Penguins last 11 Stanley Cup Final games.
* Under is 7-1-3 in Predators last 11 home games.

CONSENSUS: 64 percent of users are siding with the home favorite Predators and 55 percent of the totals wagers are on the Under.

MLB | Pirates vs Mets
Play on: Mets -130 at 5Dimes

I'm recommending a play on the Mets with Gsellman over Glasnow. New York looks to bounce back from Friday's loss to the Pirates with Robert Gsellman, who is coming off two quality starts, including a 4-2 win over Milwaukee on Monday when he allowed two runs and three hits in seven innings. Tyler Glasnow has had trouble getting anybody out with a current 6.95 ERA and Pittsburgh has lost four of his last five starts, including his last outing against the Mets. Glasnow gave up five runs on eight hits in five innings and he now has a 6.46 ERA in May, which is an improvement over April when it was 7.98. Glasnow has made it through six innings in just three of his 10 starts this season. The Pirates are 11-17 on the road and in last place in the NL Central. We're recommending a play on the Mets on Saturday. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer.

MLB | Red Sox vs Orioles
Play on: Red Sox -116 at betonline

Play - Boston Red Sox w/Price (Game 923).

Edges - Red Sox: Price 3-0 last three overall team starts versus Baltimore, and 8-2 career team starts in this park… Orioles: 2-7 last nine games at home in this series. With Price 10-3 his last 13 away team starts during June, we recommend a 1* play on Boston. Thank you and good luck as always.

It's been a long road trip for the Braves, and they have had issues finding offense in games played in Anaheim and San Francisco, but today at the Great American "Small-Park", I look for RA Dickey and Scott Feldman to serve them up as the Braves and Reds land Over the total.

Last night we saw 5 combined runs for an Under, but Atlanta is still 3-2-1 Over the total their last 6 on this road trip.

Dickey's ERA is close to 6 for his last 3 starts, and the Over is 2-0-1. For the season, the Over is 6-3-2 when the knuckleballer climbs the mound.

Feldman sports an ERA of 6.59 for his last 3 efforts, and the Over has cashed in 2 of those 3 starts.

I get the feeling the ball will be careening all over the diamond this Saturday late afternoon.

Play the Braves and Reds Over the total.

Houston-Texas, McCullers and Cashner. Those 4 names are all I need to go in on an Under at Arlington this Saturday night!

Both teams have been knocking the snot out of the baseball this past week, but Lance McCullers and Andrew Cashner will change all of that tonight.

McCullers has a 2.48 season ERA, and has allowed a grand total of 4 earned runs to score over his last 36-plus innings pitched! The Under stands at 5-1 his last 6 starts, and for the season the Under is 7-4 in his 11 starts.

Andrew Cashner is just 2-4 this season, but his ERA of 2.92 suggests he hasn't gotten the support he deserves. Cashner has made 9 starts this year, and the Under has gotten the money in 7 of those 9 assignments this season.

The weekend opened with an Over last night with Keuchel and Darvish getting the starting nod, look for the pitching to dominate the hitting here on Saturday night.

Houston-Texas to hold Low.

GAME: New York Yankees (31-21) at Toronto Blue Jays (27-28)

DATE/TIME: Saturday, June 03 - 1:07 PM EST
WHERE: Rogers Centre, Toronto, Ontario
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

Aaron Judge has been named the American League Rookie of the Month for both April and May, and the New York Yankees' powerhouse is off to a pretty good start in June as well. Fresh off belting his majors-best 18th homer, Judge carries a six-game hitting streak into Saturday afternoon's third contest of a four-game series against the host Toronto Blue Jays.

Starlin Castro joined Judge with a two-run homer on Friday, but Josh Donaldson launched a pair of solo shots as Toronto recorded a 7-5 victory to even the series at one win apiece. The Blue Jays have won six of the first eight contests of their 10-game homestand, with Donaldson accounting for three homers among his six hits and four runs during the last four outings. Justin Smoak also went deep to highlight his second straight two-hit performance and has three homers among his 10 hits with eight RBIs and seven runs scored during the homestand. The Yankees' road trip hasn't been as successful, as the American League East leaders have dropped three of five to begin a stretch of 13 straight games versus their division adversaries.

TV: 1:07 p.m. ET, MLB Network, YES (New York), Sportsnet One (Toronto)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Yankees LH Jordan Montgomery (2-4, 4.11 ERA) vs. Blue Jays RH Joe Biagini (1-3, 3.64)

Montgomery fell to 0-3 in his last four outings on Monday after allowing three runs (one earned) on eight hits in a season-low 4 1/3 innings of a 3-2 setback at Baltimore. The 24-year-old rookie kept the ball in the park for the first time in four outings, but was undone by an error from Castro that led to two unearned runs as well as - by his account - "too many two-out hits" that led to driving up his pitch count (100). Montgomery will be making his 10th career start and first against Toronto on Saturday.

Biagini is also trying to get out of a recent slump as the 27-year-old fell to 0-2 in his last three outings Sunday despite recording career highs in innings pitched (six), pitches (95) and strikeouts (seven). "From a personal standpoint, it was important for me to see myself kind of be able to handle the work load, continuing to expand," Biagini told reporters following the 3-1 loss to Texas last time out. Biagini struggled mightily in his last encounter with New York, permitting three runs on four hits over 1 2/3 innings to take the loss on May 3.

WALK-OFFS

1. New York OF Aaron Hicks is 6-for-9 in the series and has 10 RBIs during his six-game hitting streak.

2. Blue Jays DH Kendrys Morales is 3-for-7 with a homer and two runs scored in this series and has six hits against the Yankees this season.

3. Toronto RHP Aaron Sanchez (blister), who was the AL's ERA leader last season, is expected to play catch Sunday as he works his way through his third stint on the disabled list this season.

PREDICTION: Yankees 4, Blue Jays 3
