Maybe it's a tactic to unify his team and get his players to trust him (ya know, same belief systems and all).

Always wonder with him...there's gotta be an angle here.

I don't get it... I used to really respect Pop, but to me he comes across as being not very bright when he spouts off like this. He has to realize he's
alienating (pissing off) 50% or more of his audience with his rants.

I still think he's a brilliant coach.

The San Antonio Spurs lost to the Golden State Warriors in the first NBA playoff game, but coach Gregg Popovich seemed more frustrated by President Donald Trump than by basketball.
While sports is often the place Americans turn for non-political activity, every sport from football to basketball and even tennis has become more and more political in the last few years. Popovich has been an outspoken critic of the new president, but when a reporter asked him how the outside world distracts from work, the coach unloaded.
“There’s a cloud, a pall over the whole country, in a paranoid, surreal sort of way,” Popovich said. “It’s got to do with the way one person conducts himself and it’s embarrassing. It’s dangerous to our institutions and what we all stand for and what we expect this country to be. But for this individual, he’s in a game show.”
According to Good Sports, following the election, Popovich spoke out against those he felt were unwilling to be empathetic and tolerant toward another “group’s situations.”
“I’m a rich white guy, and I’m sick to my stomach thinking about it,” he said. “I can’t imagine being a Muslim right now, or a woman, or an African-American, a Hispanic, a handicapped person. How disenfranchised they might feel. And for anyone in those groups that voted for him, it’s just beyond my comprehension how they ignore all of that. My final conclusion is—my big fear is—we are Rome.”

How does this moron put women and Muslims in the same sentence ? Does this know it all Muslims aren't pro women for the most part ?

Monster difference - 35% of the country hates Trump and is very vocal about it - about it meaning Trump - they don't disrespect the flag - the flag has immense significance - ESPECIALLY to people who have served in the military - fought for the country - and died for the country - Kapernick is a worthless POS - Pop served in the military and respects the flag and it's significance - i agree he does not need to be ranting about the president

Maybe he doesn't care about alienating his audience, and he thinks saying nothing would alienate his players?

He should probably worry about why his team choked a 25 point lead.

I read it was said in the pre-game, not after the game.

He's the greatest nba coach probably a top 5 coach in the history of sports. Not sure what any of you guys really read, but there's nothing not true about what he said lmfao. Not sure why there is two pages on this already and people are angry at Pop. It was all opinion. I guess judge someone for having a good heart like the Jimmy Kimmel thing. Same group of people getting mad tho lmao. Seems like whenever someone even says anything remotely bad about Trump, even if it is just an opinion, all of his supporters get upset. It's kinda sad everyone here disagrees with Pop. Sounds like a genuine and overall kind message to me. The criticism wasn't over the top. It is okay everyone, Trump is taking all of the necessary steps to ensure he doesn't get impeached so quickly. So don't fret ppl

That's the main point. If you don't understand that then you don't deserve to live in this country imo.

We understand what Pop was complaining about, it's the same silly nonsense we hear everyday by politicians that can't win the battle of ideas, so they go for low hanging simpleton wedge issues

Pop, just like the politicians, is wrong
