Saints defense is improved 100% over last season. Ask Adrian Peterson.
No I dont blame the defense at all. This is the best defense in N.O in at least 7 years.
I've got to respectfully disagree with you Chop, the Saint defense, especially the back 7 is about the worst I've seen play in the NFL this year. Not bashing, I live on the Gulf Coast several months of the year, I've sort of adopted the Saints as my 2nd team. It's just hard when you are used to watching the Bucs play defense most your life to watching this. Against Tampa where you are propping the job they did, that might have been the worst tackling game I've personally ever witnessed. Seriously, you guys were awful, I lost count of how many missed tackles there were. The front 4 played well and got a solid pass rush all game long, that was it though, the rest of the defense was horrid. The playcalling by Gruden was atrocious, that's what saved you. In fact Graham was averaging something like 10 yards per carry but Chuckles the Clown wanted to throw the football instead, only feeding him 9 times the entire game.
I like the Saints and I respect the hell out of that offense, but you will never sniff a championship until your defense is improved. One of the things that has made Tampa a dominant defense the last decade or so they have a strong belief in "first man to the football makes the tackle". Not just a motto, they live by it. Even our corners, for years it was Kelly/Barber are some of the best tackling corners in the game. The Saints miss so many tackles it's incredible they are only like 25th in football, you'd think they would be dead last the way they play defense. I said when you guys were 1-0 this season and many were talking SuperBowl that you are an 8-8 team at best, see nothing to change that opinion as of now. Why you don't focus more on defense in the draft is beyond me.
